Was looking FOR THIS BEAUTY as dual booting Dos 6.2.2 with 98Se should give an EPIC win as far as being able to play anything, either on it's own leaves out tonnes of stuff...together they are EVERYTHING you require in addition to the 10x64 you are running it on, etc.
Great tutorial, thank you! For the CD drivers, I don't believe they come with any of the retail MS-DOS 6.22 disks. Or am I mistaken? I ended up installing 4 CD drivers from another DOS source.
What's the difference between using the MS-DOS 6.22 than just using the Windows 98 built in DOS? I dont really know but I have a feeling it would be a better option to use the 6.22 DOS. THanks for anyone who might reply
Hi, memory manager is newer, but the most relevant reason is win 95 and win98 native dos supports long file names, so from dos prompt you can still view and open long file names instead of seeing myfile~1.doc Plus the 98 dos is better set up for xms or > 1meg memory
Thanks for this video, really informative. Got a question tho, hope to get an answer. I just received a PC with win 98 allready installed, with all the machine drivers and soft. I want to know if I can add dos 6.22 after or if you have to install it first. Thanks to let me know.
If you really want MS-DOS 6.22 specifically it would need to have been installed first. You can add the option to the boot menu for MS-DOS mode from Windows 98 which is version 7.1
Noob question.. so when one installs windows 98 se, does 7.1 automatically gets installed?? if so,, why would one want 6.22 over 7.1??@@adventuresinnostalgia425
i need help: 1 - i installed the Win98 on a laptop with 2GB(it's for WinXP), 1.8GHz using th 'setup /pi' parameter and the memory patch... i installed some updates: kernellex for install WinXP and above programs, Paragon for NTFS and NUSB for pen drives and much more... but i continue with Blue Screen... i think the problem is the VDMSound for Win9X... it works.. but when i close the game, i can get the Blue Screen... what you advice me? 2 - how can i install, correctly, the updates for KernellEx for use\install Vista and above programs? 3 - can i use the icons, like we see on Explorer, on top left(the folder icon and a subimage)? i speak about the ME theme. these is my worst problems on Windows 98 :(
Hi - i believe your problem is memory, win98 has trouble with > 512 memory It has given me problems back in the day and i had to physically remove memory chips There is a patch, but it is not entirely successful on every mother board Did around google, we did have at work a win98 machine for bakery ingredients and haccp compliance, the software author did not upgrade it so it runs on newer machines that are crippled, i left that job and advised them to use Virtual Box Anyway at one stage with a Pentium 4 , it was running and i believe all the IT guy did was edit config.sys and edit Emm386 and made a 1.5G ram drive out of the 2GB memory leaving @ 512k Again check google there is a windows config you need to change as well, win 98 will install and run, but when you reboot it crashes KernelEX is good but wont fix everything I would install the most modern system the hardware can handle then look at dosbox or virtual PC or oracle virtual box for backwards OS
I added the "bootmenu=1" to config.sys file in win95 . After reboot the pc, the boot menu appeared, and I chose "Previews version of MSDOS" (I did this for testing and it was ok and then I shot it down). After restarting the PC does not BOOT. What is the cause? please help me
Does it get back to the boot menu? It would help to have a slightly more detailed explanation of what is happening. If you can get to the boot menu, selecting the safe mode startup option may do the trick
No, nothing happens. after rebooting the system the cursor just starts flashing without any text. I also tested this method several times with virtual machine software and the same thing happened every time! May I please test this method yourself and find the reason? (Installing Windows 95 on DOS 6.22 and enable the bootmenu) Probably, this will be a challenging educational video for your practical channel...
Thank you! I really appreciate the Feedback and encouragement. I planned at least three more videos in this series and would really like to get back to working on those projects
Hi, while 98 boots dos, some programs like 6.22 You can use ver to set up some programs or even exit 98 into dos mode, but it allows sort of a full time older dos at start up without booting the gui and exiting Also, a step further could have been 2 different partitions, which is how i install dual boot 6.22 and XP, as i like to keep the 2 separate and also limit my dos 6.22 to 2GB and the rest of the drive to XP It also make the XP NTFS partition invisible to dos So if i want to copy files the easy way i use XP for the net or my other more modern Win 7/8/10 / Linus / PI machines and just use Ethernet to drop the files in the 6.22 dos directory
that's exactly what i was looking for, i can't thank you enough, awesome! thank you ;-)
You are most welcome!

Hi can we install a dual boot on a modern pc?
Very useful 🌹🙏
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback
Which 6.22 disks are you using? I can't see any CD drivers on mine.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.
Blasphemy! 👎
Don’t see the point since windows 98 already boots on DOS
It's more of a _becaise I can_ flex...
