Some people who worked with my family member were able to get out; they worked in the same office. I met some of them at the services for the victims. One guy told me that he was able to find one staircase that was blocked but not 100%. Everyone around him went slowly down. He said he survived because once he was past the damaged floors, he ran like hell to get down as low as possible. About 5 minutes after he got out and away from the building, the tower collapsed
I always assumed that the terrorists also had no idea that they would collapse.
They most likely chose it because it was both an American icon and the South Tower home to the New York Stock Exchange.
This does a good job of explaining it scientifically.
Some of the most heartwrenching videos and audio were of people jumping from the towers and smashing into the ground.
They were forced to decide which fate was worse burning or jumping to their deaths.
And of people in the towers on the phone with 911 call takers.
These call takers and dispatchers received also zero credit for their roles that horrific day.
Some of the victims on the planes and towers were able to call their loved ones and at least leave voicemails for them.
Anything about this event makes me tear up and always will.
It’s unthinkable really that a human had to make that choice …. So awful 😢
Excellent film documentary from 2 French brothers Gedeon and Jules Naudet who had just come to NY to shoot a documentary about firefighters & just happen to have been "in the right place @ right time." They were within two blocks of the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11th when the planes crashed into the towers.
I thought yall might like this one because I remembered in one of the previous videos you mentioned that you had expected a partial collapse and just couldn’t believe they both completely collapsed.
@@stacer1962 I’m not sayings it’s unbelievable it’s just the way it collapsed down. That’s what always makes conspiracy theorists say it wasn’t a plane, inside job, etc so I’m glad for videos like this that show the actual physics even though conspiracy theorists wouldn’t listen to the experts anyway.
@@stacer1962 I gotcha. It was so shocking to see it happen that I think it’s just hard for people to wrap their heads around still even if we knew rationally why it could happen. I don’t know that even the best engineering in the world could have kept it from collapsing but I hope we never have to find out anything like that again.
I lost a family member in Twin Towers when the first tower collapsed. I had visited the WTC site many times in my life. I remember being on observation deck on the roof as a teen during a wind storm. You could actually see both towers swaying in the wind- one going left and the other going right. It was a freaky sight to see. I heard that it took a while for some of the office workers to get used to seeing the towers swaying and moving when the wind was really blowing.
When these were constructed, they didn't have terrorist high jacking 747's (weren't around at the design stage) and crashing into buildings. The GREAT design of the buildings was the fact they DID pancake. Can you imagine the devastation if they fell over in New York? I'd bet money that's what the terrorists wanted but instead of hundreds of thousands of people dying, they got less than 4k, 3-4 buildings damaged and 2 destroyed because of the design.
Another winner Amanda. Thank you. Apparently, the Twin Towers were chosen as an iconic symbol as was the Pentagon. According to an article in The NY Times, the terrorists did not anticipate the collapse. During a meeting after the attack, bin Laden was quoted as saying, "Due to my experience in this field, I was thinking that the fire from the gas in the plane would melt the iron structure of the building and collapse the area where the plane hit and all the floors above it only. This is all that we had hoped for." Thanks once again for a great reaction video guys.- Hawk
I remember that at the time of the attack, one thing the reporters on Fox quickly pointed out was that all of the hijacked planes were coast-to-coast non-stop flights, which meant they had the most possible amount of jet fuel in them, obviously desiring both a huge explosion and a huge fire. Also, hitting the towers as high as they did made it more difficult to put out the fires before the steel would collaspe.

People didnt like working in the World Trade Center because the offices where set up weird because of the construction of the building. Watch a demolition crew set charges on a building the are dropping. There are key points that stabilize the building and the planes hit the right points
I have also wondered if they did enough reconnaissance to know the buildings were designed this way and it was a possibility or pure chance but I feel like it was chance because the bombing of the WTC in the 90s didn’t lead to a catastrophic failure so I bet they couldn’t have been sure it would collapse. I’m sure they were super happy it happened though. They did make sure that the airlines were full of diesel fuel so they meant as much devastation as possible.
@@stacer1962 yeah I knew they took flight lessons I just wasn’t sure if they would’ve done the research well the way back to the construction of the building to see the changes of toppling it. Either way I’m sure they were thrilled the buildings completely collapsed and that not only the people who were in it but all those heroes who went in all got killed. It just makes me sick that someone would kill that many innocent people
@@stacer1962 yeah I feel like they wanted as many casualties as they could get but the main goal was to take out major symbols of our country and to also put us into turmoil which yes they did initially succeed at that but they sure did awaken a sleeping giant just like Japan did in WW2
The terrorists did not know about the building flaw. They chose the World Trade Center buildings because of what they stood for and the financial district attached to them. They had attempted to take one of the buildings down years before by bombing the column supports in the underground parking structure. That attempt did little harm to the actual building. Plus, they wanted the extra insurance that the burning jet fuel could add to the disaster and specifically chose planes which had final destinations on the other side of the USA, maximizing the amount of fuel into the infernos. All these key elements combined were just too much for those buildings to handle. To answer your question, no, being on an upper floor would not have been better. A lot of those people leapt to their demise rather than being burned alive. As the floors pancaked onto each other, they literally pulverized everything between them. That is why they had to do DNA testing to try and identify those lost....there was nothing left of so many of them. A very dark and sad day in US history.

Bin Laden did supposedly have a degree in civil engineering. But the choice of the Twin Towers was mainly symbolic and planned by Khalid the al-Qaeda chief propagandist.
bin-Laden wanted the primary targets to be the White House, US Capital, and Pentagon, hoping that their combined destruction would destabilize the US government if not cause it’s collapse.
A larger scale attack was contemplated. It included 10+ planes targeting the White House, Pentagon, Capital, CIA Headquarters, FBI Headquarters, World Trade Center, a nuclear power plant, and various tall buildings. But this was scaled back as it was deemed to elaborate, and impractical as it required a dozen times hijackings both coasts.
Not seeing your video yet just the headline, I'm wondering if you mention or are aware of tower number 7 coming down that same afternoon in precisely the same manner as the first two towers did.

Chill out…. Nothing offensive meant but any comment, we found it very interesting and also such an awful tragedy. If your a in the trade then nothing offensive was meant.
