A Picture Frame from Reclaimed Cedar Fence Pickets

This is a short story of a wood worker turning something old into something new. It's a story of the building process (my favorite process) of using reclaimed cedar fence pickets. The beautiful character of the old wood tells a story of its own. A story of determination to withstand the harshness of weather, moisture, wildlife and everything else challenging to its longevity. Capturing the beauty of this character takes a certain kind of determination, similar to that of the old wood. A determination to withstand the challenges of working with this imperfect material with odds that seem to be stacked against you at every turn. The character captured in the old wood's determination combined with the wood worker's determination to tell it in a new story never ever seems to disappoint when the two work together. It takes both in order to tell the story the way it was meant to be.
