    Laura, you are definitely in your element and you are passing your knowledge to young people who like you enjoy sailing. Googled you very recently and found out you are a mother now and I think I caught a glimpse of your little boy in this episode. I have a feeling you're a great mom.

    Excellent presentation! Victron can be proud of you. Victron is a company that stands by its products. Just heard from my neighbor, his faulty 3K inverter/charger he bought 3 years ago, but only installed recently, was replaced under full warranty.

    Very nice set up Laura, here's hoping you are able to get out sailing lots, and with luck this pandemic thing will soon be over. Looking forward to seeing more of Guppie and you with new crew showing young people a more enjoyable way of life.

    I have been keeping up with you since the hearings on whether you could sail by yourself. I loved your electrical marina avoidance system. You could live on the hook, or stay in Bluewater indefinitely. Good video.

    What a fantastic setup. Boy, I hope you have someone on board who can work on this system out at sea if something goes wrong. Apart from the fact that it has been very professionally installed and appears electrically very sound and should last for a long time, as we all know, Murphies Law and saltwater/air have a way of causing even the best system to develop faults.
    Laura, I know you have worked very hard with this and I hope that your program and S/V Guppy (No 2) last for a long time. Let's hope out of the sad ending to Guppy No 1, that No 2 will have a long and illustrious career roaming the globe teaching youngens how to sail.
    Thank you once again for the video!

      she seems to have a good understanding of the components, so at least she can troubleshoot... but yeah if one of those 'black boxes' fails.. it might get hairy..

      @lauradekkerworldsailing  3 роки тому +9

      I installed most of the system myself so yes I do have a fairly good understanding of what's going on and how to fix it :) but I absolutely agree that the more systems there are on a boat the more stuff can break or fail. The key is being able to deal with that by either fixing it or knowing how to live and continue without it ;)

      @@lauradekkerworldsailing Well, if you installed it, then you are the one to work on it. No one will understand it as much as you will/do. Well done!

    Thanjs that was really helpful and showcases why victron are top of the game!
    What are the numbers on the cans for? (Under the couch)
    Stay safe!

      Thanks Toby :) The numbers on the cans tell us which cans we can open in certain weeks of our voyage. ( otherwise all the yummy things get eaten right away and nothing is left towards the end ;)

      Everything on this boat is very well grounded to thick plates on the hull - chainplates, masts ( with extra thick cable) and thru holes. It's not a complete guarantee but what in life is ;)

      Lifepo4 is perfectly safe chemistry, lead acid would be worse as it puts off gas when charging and well its full of acid haha 😄

      My concern would be if something fails. Have you seen LiPo batteries go? :/

    • @allornothing7957
      @allornothing7957 3 роки тому +2

      @@MarcelLENORMAND yes I have, and these are nothing like that! If you want to have a look on youtube for lifepo4 in fire style videos.
      Most fores and faults are down to wire sizing, lack of fuses, or just really don't know what they are doing and feel uneasy asking questions publicly I think!
      That's why when someone ask's for guidance I try me best to help :)

    Lithium battery don't mix with water- even days after exposure to water they can catch on huge fire, super hard to even extinguish. check youtube and be careful with any moisture buildup and stuff like that
