I have often said I would love to hire a local musician to personally show me the ropes in creating music with a DAW. You did it in this simple tutorial. instead of the stock acoustic bass in the packs, i pick the ibanez. it sounds smooth as hell and has great rumbly lows. great to use for jazzy songs, when you dont want a basic sub bass

I'll have to say I kinda disagree with the "don't make the drums too complex" bit, I think both simple and complex work depending on other variables of the track. Also I find it weird that you didn't talk about adding swing to the drums or doing some sidechain shenanigans, I think both are simple yet important parts of Lo-Fi. Then again, the genre is quite broad, so really a lot of stuff works. Cheers!

After 4.5hours, I realized I suck at this a lot, but at least I made something. Making music simply by following certain waves of the chords while listening to the subtle sounds is fun. Thanks for the links, this software is much easier to use than the previous one I started with (LMMS).

For the overlapping issue, there's a much easier way to fix it. Just right click on the instrument in the channel rack and turn on "cut itself".
Setting the envelope is better. You can have more interesting articulation when you get to decide when the note stops
