I love thunderstorms! They really add to the ambiance. I am no good at preparing for all kinda of weather. I tend to forget coats... Hopefully more electric car chargers do appear in national parks. Yay, I enjoyed seeing that fellow cyclist again! That chipmunk is so bold! I hate how many people still feed wildlife despite signs. There's a lovely lake near where I live and there's a huge sign saying don't feed the birds (and reasons why) but yet I see so many people pouring bread into the lake! Really useful information in this video :)
We are meeting the parents on their way to Vancouver (Alaska Cruise) next summer and we have side by side campgrounds in Prospect OR. They have their camper and we rented a camping van situation.
It's so true - always much harder to get back up - especially because your energy will be depleted by that time. I'd prefer hiking up then down on the way back. Good tip about the gas! April, as someone who is always looking for a restroom, I finally caved and bought a "She-wee" for emergencies and I hike with it just in case I've had a lot of water to drink... Those camp sites don't look very private - kind of like camping on a field. The wildflower trail would probably be so pretty in the summer months.
Why fly into Portland? Seems kinda far. I flew into Eugene. Much easier to get to. Just less then 3 hour drive. We stayed at Crescent Lake Resort. Took us an hour and 20 minutes to get to the park. Crescent Lake Resort is a great place for a home base. 1 1/2 hours to Eugene airport. 1 1/2 hours to Crater and 1 1/2 hours to Bend.
Good point about Eugene; we know about the city/airport but forgot to mention it in this video. Thank you for watching and for chiming in! Guessing you enjoyed your stay at Crescent Lake Resort? 🙂

Lol, the video-bombing cyclist! The chipmunks learn to be bold because they know humans often have food for them...which is wrong... Frustrating!

We agree about the campsites... April is curious if you have been able to test out your "she-wee" yet? She may need to invest in a new one... 😎
@@GoTravelOnTheCheap yep I've used the she wee! And bought one for my mom and sister for their hiking adventures. When you gotta go you gotta go!! 🤣
@@TheAverageTourist April has had troubles with the one she has, lol... Perhaps she should check out this brand!
