Sadly in 2021 Max did not have to battle with anyone other than the team with announced policy of "we are one dnf away from coming back to title race". So ofcourse, it is not a coincidence.
one's being careful and nervous around with the superior pace trying to get past , while the other with nothing to lose, and holding for his much superior teammate. Match made in heaven. On the other hands, Bottas and verstappen were pretty much bottas letting him by on purpose.
Happy to see all the Perez and Alonso love in these comments. In amongst the madness of this year I think those two have really been the standout drivers for me.
checo is sooo underrated this year. He had so much bad luck his way, missing out on at least 5 podiums that werent his fault, and yet he still managed to heavily influence the championship, what a lad\
Not to downgrade Perez's race craft , but if Lewis wasn't nervous around overtaking red bulls , the battles would have been over pretty quickly. Ever since silverstone Hamilton always looked nervous overtaking any and nervous overtaking max all season. But I can get it. Hamilton obviously does not want to ruin his image of making contact with anyone , and most importantly, the pressure of championship has been on him .
Still get goosebumps when I see the battle between Pérez and Hamilton. Absolute masterclass in defense. We all thought after Lewis was past in the first corner that it was all over but he made it clear what an skilled driver it is.
The best thing about the Perez defense in turkey was after turn 1 hamilton braked early on 2 occasions to get the ol switheroo but Perez instead of using the exit curbs turned sharply in so there was nowhere for Hamilton to go making him lose more time
Bang on. And sacrificed his pace to take such a sharp line because it wasn’t about going fast, it was about going slow and keep HAM behind him. Brilliant stuff.
Same as what Alonso was doing in Hungary. Just placing their car on the inside going out of corners, and making it a drag race to the next one. A joy to watch.
@@valle3452 Agreed and its always about how youre gonna defeat that mercedes engine on the straights because after the twisty section of the track starts Hamilton just cant he just cant
Checo's defenses were absolutely legendary. Our Minister of Defense... Another mention will be Verstappen and Hamilton battle for the win in Brazil. I enjoyed that one as well...
Lots of decisive fights from Pérez, he lack of qualy consistance but his contributions to Maxes championship made him, to me, one of the top 10 drivers of the year. 😍😍
Checo has proved this season that he’s one of the best on wheel to wheel, he obviously needed to adapt to the car and he helped his teammate as much as he can, I hope next season he can have more opportunities to shine. It’s awful seeing that he was left out of the top 10 lists. And then you have Norris being in top 3 of everyone’s lists but as always he was trying to push drivers off the track and had an awful second part of the season, what a joke.
Checo is awesome, his battle with Lewis in Abu Dhabi was amazing. Yeah the first half of the season was meh, but he is the ultimate teammate when it counts. Amazing work and glad he's a Bull, absolute animal!
Agree 100% The respect he gained from the F1 community is unimaginable! Best team mate and that will be paid back. He deserves that seart in the RB without any doubt.
The top 3 are easily interchangeable. The Checo x Lewis battle in Turkey was my personal favorite. Red Bull’s special livery was awesome. Crofty’s commentary crescendo was great.
I don't think Hamilton to be expecting to be fighting Checo at all. His focus was all on Max. The difference in style of how Max and Checo fights in a race probably also confused Lewis in how to approach it.
Alonsos defence to make Ocon win, and Checos defense to get Verstappen back to Hamilton was amazing high impact moves, that changes the entire trajectory of the outcome.
Perez's defence is incredible but his pace isn't quite there. Out of the top ten isn't right if we don't count the first part of the season, but considering how much slower he was being around the top ten (we can argue just in or out) is the right spot
@@thomaslegoff4069 we can also argue that bottas wasn't there but instead mile schumacher for what?? He had more accidents than mazepin.. And he didn't do anything this season but crash. I know he is in a haas not a red bull but i dont think he should be top 10 at all... Checo should.

Alonso has really showed his pure skill and talent this season, some amazing overtakes and defending. I guess it's true to say that age is but a number.
Every single defense literally contributed to the championship. If Hamilton would have gotten the podium in Turkey (instead of Checo), he would have won the championship. If Checo didn't hold him up in Abu Dhabi, he would have been able to pit for fresh tires, and Max wouldn't have been able to beat him after the restart. Checo was the deciding factor in the WDC this year, and that's why Red Bull were so quick to sign him for 2022 as well (at a time when many doubted him).
@@flyingphoenix113 exactly Not to mention Baku and Perez holding Hamilton back in P3 for 30+ laps. Then forcing Hamilton to make that “magic” button mistake on the restart. Red Bull did the absolute correct decision when they signed Checo

Checo had a nice little battle with Alonso in Qatar as well. He is up there with the very best going wheel to wheel. I'm pumped for the new season to start now.

Hamilton vs max: crash
Coincidence? I think not 😭
Sadly in 2021 Max did not have to battle with anyone other than the team with announced policy of "we are one dnf away from coming back to title race". So ofcourse, it is not a coincidence.

Checo and Lewis battles are so amazing. Always so hard and entertaining, but also always so clean 😍🔥
But dangerous according to one Snowflake Hamilton
one's being careful and nervous around with the superior pace trying to get past , while the other with nothing to lose, and holding for his much superior teammate.
@@nateswanson7576 I agree but I think he was very inconsistent
Perez vs Hamilton is always a joy to watch.

@@abhimohan7608 yeah that's right
If it was Perez and Hamilton racing in Silverstone instead, I don’t think the crash in Silverstone would have happened
Its because Verstappen can't race wheel to wheel fairly
Can't deny that Perez has given a tough time to hamilton this year...be it french gp, Baku, Brazil turkey Abu Dhabi..
Dont forget Mexico where he was on the tail of Hamilton till last lap
Baku was pure magic
Perez and Hamitlon definitely had the best battles last year, hard and fair like they should be
Not to downgrade Perez's race craft , but if Lewis wasn't nervous around overtaking red bulls , the battles would have been over pretty quickly.
Absolutely nothing wrong being the best wingman in the whole world! I want Perez in my team!

All Checo's battles were amazing, he really is the minister of defense, great job!!
Checo's defenses were absolutely legendary. Our Minister of Defense...
Another mention will be Verstappen and Hamilton battle for the win in Brazil. I enjoyed that one as well...
Max was a sitting duck. Then autism and verstappen roadrage kicked in. But atleast he tried. We got our last lap shoot out, so i'm fine with it !
Lots of decisive fights from Pérez, he lack of qualy consistance but his contributions to Maxes championship made him, to me, one of the top 10 drivers of the year. 😍😍
Just imagine if he had been up there with max in qualy, would have made both championships out of reach for Mercedes.
@@AstroAvenger Who cares. Let Toto have his trophy. He can put the pieces off his Bosse headphone in there.
I thought Perez at Baku holding Hamilton off until the red flag was excellent as well.

I don't think Hamilton to be expecting to be fighting Checo at all. His focus was all on Max. The difference in style of how Max and Checo fights in a race probably also confused Lewis in how to approach it.
What would be nice is if Hamilton and max could have close wheel Racing without one taking the other or both out 😭

Perez vs Hamilton, the rivalry I didn't know I wanted haha
Alonsos defence to make Ocon win, and Checos defense to get Verstappen back to Hamilton was amazing high impact moves, that changes the entire trajectory of the outcome.
well, even with checo backing Lewis up, Lewis still got away from Max and created a pretty big gap between them
It didnt change the outcome lol lewis still destroyed max on old tyres
Perez is an absolute animal, and is out of the top ten drivers, just envy.
Other teams are just that jealous that their drivers don't work as a unit but instead as individuals.

Battles between lewis and checo remain my favorite 🙌🔥
Checo deserves a place in history right next to Max. Without him being such a great teammate, max might have lost the championship. Cheers to Checo
