yeah but for most game studios they have access to an extensive library of artists signed under Sony Music Group, universal , warner and so on, making it easy to choose tracks for their games. example: Rockstar Games, where the radio licenses for their games stem from long-standing agreements originating from "Grand Theft Auto: III & San Andreas" being updated to include their newer games. so for independent artists, breaking into this closed system is challenging unless their music gains significant popularity or specific appeal to the game developers.

It is hard and very competitive but definitely open to indie artists. I have a track on Grand Theft Auto, and I am pretty much an unknown producer and definitely not on a major label.
