Thank you to everybody that is commenting! I normally would like to respond to all of you individually but I have lost track. Thank you to you all for the support and all the information on BTS and I will continue to react to them 💜
armys dont mind long reactions or pausing. don't worry about the length. when commenting pausing is cool. it shows interest. plus some reactors like to talk over the videos and then miss important info. Armys thing is a genuine reactor
@@Dee_Guwap Don't. Just be natural as if you are watching with us! If you are watching something to learn, the normal thing to take notes is pause, right? So just pause to talk (aka taking notes out loud/making comments on the side of the book) and don't praise everything because you think we will like that, but just because you feel like praising it ^^
We often say BTS don't have a genre... they ARE a genre.... they love pushing the boundaries of music. They did start out as a hip hop group and that will always be their roots, but they dive into pretty much every genre and often mix several into one song. They are an audio-visual extravaganza Easiest to think in these terms. K-Pop is an industry . It covers most genres and includes soloists and groups and is a term used mostly in the west to indicate that the artist is from Korea and has music that is popular. In Korea they don't really use the term K-Pop. They call them Idols (or Idol groups). It is not common for Idol groups to write their own music or be so involved in their art. BTS has broken thru the barriers that come with being called "KPop Idols" and have become "Global Artists" instead. That said they are extremely proud towards their country of birth so being referred to as KPop stars does not bother them.. The reason so many ARMY get upset is that it is usually used in a derogatory manner when people just dismiss BTS as some little KPop boyband. As you will find a lot (not all) of KPop and boybands in general, is boppy tunes and no real substance.
k pop is an industry more than a genre. but k pop is pretty much the visuals, the dancing and the performance that includes pretty people. bts falls under that in Korea. but what sets them apart is they have more freedom to create their own music and make a lot of other choices . this is not very common with k pop groups. plus there's no other group is as big as they are.also unlike many other k pop groups BTS rappers actually grew up listening to hip hop and always give homage to their hip hop influences. J Hope chose the name to pay homage to his muse J Cole. and he has a song with J Cole too
Just so you know... ARMYs don't mind watching long hours of BTS reaction videos as long as the reactor is sincere and not just reacting to BTS for clouts and for subs. We appreciate and support those who are genuinely reacting to BTS. I've seen a lot of reactors who grew their channel because of reacting to BTS sincerely. I've also seen reactors who didn't like BTS at first because they started reacting to their poppy English songs which are not as deep as their Korean lyrics but later on were turned into BTS fans because they gave BTS a chance by reacting to their Koeran MVs. BTS stands for BangTan Sonyeondan or in English Bulletproof Boyscouts. "Bangtan means "to be resistant to bullets, so it means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that are aimed at adolescents like bullets, to preserve the values and ideal of today's adolescents.”- JHope But later on, BTS was translated as Beyond The Scene but for Koreans they are still BangTan Sonyeondan. Those 700 awards were just as of March 2022. They have already accumulated over 900 awards and 36 Guinness World Record as a group. I won't even mention the individual awards and Guinness World Record. They're also the only artists who have 3 number 1 albums in the Billboard Chart less than a year since the Beatles. BTS debuted in 2013. They only slowly gain fans in the US in 2015 but they made their debut stage in the US in 2017 and won Billboard Top Social Artists from 2017 to 2020 taking the record held by Justin B for many years. BTS had to handout flyers for their free conert in LA to promote themselves. They held their first free concert in the LA in cooperation with American Hustle Life to only I think 200 people. I should say BTS is their own genre. KPop is not a genre. It's an industry primarily focuses on visuals, MV production, dancing, singing, rapping. They are not called artists but idols. Most KPop idol groups don't write, produce, and choose their own discographies. They have no say when it comes to choosing their song and album concepts. They jump from one concept to another. BTS on the other hand is different. They write, produce and compose their own songs. Although they have in-house producers, every member takes part in writing, and producing their music. If you want to know what I mean, please react to THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENT IN LIFE: Story of BTS by Rice Squad. You will know why BTS is different from other KPop groups. As of now, there are a few groups who have started writing and producing their songs but still, a lot of the groups have not been given the artistic freedom to grow their skills in creating their own music. Bang Sihyuk has always been clear that he wants BTS to tell their story through their music. Many idols have to train for years like 5 to 10 or even 15 years before debuting. BTS members trained for only about 2or 3 years. Jimin even trained for about 6 months. RM and Suga were already making names being underground rappers before joining BTS. JHope and Jimin were already making names as dancers before joining BTS. Jin wanted to be an actor and had to train how to sing and dance starting from zero. V didn't even intend to audition but just did it on a wimp but he already possess the talent in singing that's why he passed the audition. Jungkook chose Big Hit, a relatively smaller company over those other 6 big and stable companies because of RM. I think it's fate that brought the seven of them. They are 7 different spices blend together to create a perfect menu. BTS literally build HYBE empire with their own blood, sweat and tears.
To answer some of questions😊 K-pop is an industry not a music genre. The most typical genres in K-pop are pop, hip hop, and R&B… but you can find rock edm etc etc The K-pop system scouts kids everywhere (like jin was street cast) in schools, talent shows etc… they audition thousands and select a few who go into trainee programmed for years.. learning all the skills they need, not just singing dancing rapping but things like language classes… these trainees are constantly tested and anyone not keeping up is sent home… groups are formed by the companies and debut typically uner a 7 year contract… the entertainment company does everything scout train manage a&r production and distribution.. in addition they control most aspects of a K-pop idols life performance and off stage persona… what separated big hit was that they allowed BTS members freedom to express themselves.. what bang si hyuk said in the video was in 2013 ground breaking in a way although it is more common now. Typically groups have vocal lines rap lines dance lines . All members can do anything but the lines tend to front certain aspects of the performance… but all the rappers in BTS can sing and dance . When BTS was formed the plan was for a hip hop group. In 2013 this was not typical… if you listen to the first 4 albums that’s what you get… but the group naturally moved towards their own very distinctive sound in 2015 and they never looked back, But I recommend these tracks Born singer live stage mix (a remake of jcole born sinner) And Hip hop lover live stage These are both available with subtitles For you who loves rap Suga the trilogy Daechwita haegeum and amygdala all MV’s Rm Joke MV w subs, do you MV w subs change with wale MV w subs Jhope chicken noodle soup feat Becky g, arson, airplane all MV’s And cipher pt 2 and 3 Subscribed today,, like your reactions and your brain Welcome to our rabbit hole 💜
I'll be honest with you. Im an adult fan. I will be 50 at the end of the month. I was introduced to BTS and K-pop in general by my daughter. I never understood the whole listening to music in Korean. However, after a while, the language really isn't the barrier you think it would be. You fall for the music itself. You fall for the artists themselves. They do sprinkle english lyrics into the songs as well. Give it a chance. Watch the mv with subtitles, or if there isn't an mv their are lyric videos and lyric websites.
Fans knew about the other members of BTS and not V because he didnt have any of this vlogs posted online. Before they debuted, they would post videos online but V wasn't in the videos. So fans just thought that it was 6 members because that's all they saw. It was a surprise to suddenly have them debut on stage with a new song and an album and there's a 7th member. It was like a big secret meant to stir up buzz since hundreds of groups debut every year and it's hard for a group to stand out.
BTS debuted in 2013 but most of the members signed with the agency 1 to 3 years prior to that. They each signed with the agency having areas of specialty, like rap for RM and Suga, or dancing for JHope and Jimin. But where they were strong in some areas, some of them had zero experience or skill in other areas, like dancing, heh. So their time as a "trainee" was spent learning and taking classes to strengthen those areas so that once they officially debuted as a group, they all had the necessary skills to work together.
You seem sincere and honest. You may not “listen to this in your car if you don’t understand the lyrics”, we get that. But please continue the effort to react to more videos. This group is truly amazing! If you receive any hate for this, you can ignore it completely, it’ll be from toxic individuals. 💜
4:59 Actually, it’s like that for most big record companies whether here in the U.S. or in S. Korea, so what makes BTS special from the beginning is coming from a small agency started by a music producer (the CEO) whose intention to do it differently. It’s outside the norm, so I’m sure there was trial and error and work-in-progress, but he didn’t want the guys to lose their inner self and honesty when they work on music and performing.
once you've read the subtitles you already know what the song is about. plus our rappers will sometimes add English words or hooks to sing along to. but remember music is the feeling it gives you. does the sound make you sad, happy, mad, or hyped. how many people listen to music and don't understand the words. or read up on the words so they can know the songs meaning. in a car you can hum to a song, tap your feet, or tap your fingers on the steering wheel or bop your head. there's many ways to enjoy music. classical music has no words and yet people enjoy it and hum to it. also when suga did his world tour, his solo album dropped and a week later he held the first concert of the tour. I went to his first concert here in NY and everyone sang the songs all of them in Korean because that's how much the music suga creates or any member of bts creates affects Armys. we will pull up the lyrics and learn them. JK is the only member with an English solo album. the rest of the members sing in Korean with English words here or there. and their best music is in Korean because its their own with their own stories to tell. so to get into BTS you should enjoy the music not only for reacting but just cause its freaking great music lol plus last thing how many rappers you know, play guitar, the piano and dance. come on now lol
I'm 58 and Army.. I found bts when i was at my lowest and watching them grow into the most humble talented gifted artist and young men the world has to offer💜 RM is a lyrical genius, especially the way he uses wordplay even between languages, composing using different beats flows rhythms.. He's also the only one who does not have a driver's license Yoongi is my bias and I love how he's so savage.. He seems like a very cold and distant person but he's very caring and loving J-Hope is a phenomenal dancer and headlined at Lollapalooza last year.. Hobi is the sunshine of the group, he's a beautiful smart creative man Jin was cast on the street getting off the bus that's true, it has happened twice to him... He did not sing or dance at all before he became a trainee.. Jin used to pack lunches for the younger members and drive n pick them up from school each day. Jungkook was only 13/14 when he joined as a trainee, Korean age is counted differently, he loves his brothers and Army so very much, loves to take risks, he's pitch perfect and talented in so many things. He's called the "golden maknae"because he's just good at everything he does🤷 V was hidden because the company feared he would be approached by other companies because of his striking good looks.V's voice is like a river of melted chocolate and his vocal range is amazing. He loves jazz, He's very funny and spontaneous. Jimin is pure perfection when he dances, the feelings and emotions he's able to protray is amazing. He also had the shortest time as a trainee, around 7 months only.💜💜💜💜 keep going and you find a great journey man
First of all, I really love your reactions! To clarify the term dance line a little more, it's a term used in Kpop. A group usually has a rap line (= the rappers of the group: RM, Suga and J-Hope), a vocal line (= the singers: Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook), a dance line (= the best dancers: J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook and a visual line (= the handsome guys: Jin and V). However all BTS members can sing and rap to a certain degree, the non dancers can hold their own on the dance floor and all are good looking in my opinion. Also Kpop isn't really a genre, it's an industrie. It's the pop music created in South Korea where music companies create groups by means of a trainee system. There is a distinctive sound and way of producing, but you can't really classify it all into one musical genre. BTS broke more than a few bounderies of the Kpop industry and that's why a lot of fans say they are not Kpop, they are their own genre. Sorry for the long comment, lots of love and good health from a 46 year old Belgian ARMY! 💜
@BoraBox7 First of all, if you read my comment thoroughly, you will see that I say 'a lot of fans', not 'I'. Secondly, I agree partly with that statement, in the sense that BTS didn't follow the same path as a lot of the groups from other companies (promotion, content, etc.). But thank you for reading my comment and giving your opinion (good for the algorithm), lots of love, and good health to you!💜
@BoraBox7 Everybody is entitled to their own opinions! 😉 I just get very tired of all the people who are so negative these days. I wish you a happy day and life! 💜
You may have seen something in the beginning mentioning the 'Big 3' kpop companies. Those are the biggest, most influential companies that have been in the business from the beginning, for better and worse. They helped to create the entire kpop industry into what it is today which is why they have so much power and leverage over South Korean media. They can get their groups onto all the best shows and get positive articles written about their groups. All of the biggest industry awards always went to their groups for decades without fail. BTS was notable because they were the first group to win one of the big awards despite not being from a Big 3 company. They had a big target on their backs from the beginning.
12:00 I definitely don’t dispute all of them being highly intelligent, however it’s actually pretty easy to sing in a language you don’t know, just might take a little longer for pronunciation. I only speak the one language, but in high school I sung in a number of choirs and there was always a foreign language song: Latin, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Swahili, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, Tagalog and some more obscure languages I can’t currently remember the name of
Helpful hint for the guide: Not sure if you know.... Korean people counted age differently to others... Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most older videos, including this guide, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust. The members were only 13-18 years old when they became trainees and 15-20 yo when they debuted. In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on lunar newyear every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. .... Year of birth - International age at Debut on 13June13 (Year and age became trainee) Jin 1992 - 20 yo (2011 - 18yo) Suga 1993- 20 yo (2011 - 17yo) Suga started with MIDI at 11 JHope 1994 - 19 yo (2011 - 17yo)JHope started dancing at 8 RM 1994 - 18 yo (2010 - 15yo) RM started rapping at 11 and was well known in the underground scene at 13 Jimin 1995 - 17 yo (2012 - 16yo) V 1995 - 17 yo (2011 - 15yo) JK 1997 - 15 yo (2011 - 13yo) JK signed with big hit at 13yo Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age. The Korean Government has recently (June28) brought in international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos/ interviews/ shows, will be referencing Korean age. 💜Have a great day
Actually BTS is an acronym for (B)ang(T)an (S)onyeondan. In English that translates to Bulletproof Boy scouts. A common misconception is that K-pop is a music genre. It is NOT. K-pop means Korean popular music by Korean artists and includes many different musical genres.
Trainee means before they debuted officially as a group so they practiced and learnt new skills so they had a better chance of succeeding once they debuted. It often means for many Kpop that they would a lot of people would have started out being given lesson's and practicing together but not all would be considered good enough so would never become member's of the group they were hoping to be in.
They were all trainee's simply traing to be performers. Jk is not fluent in english he is learning and has translators for all his songs. As a 61 year old fan, who can't speak a lick of korean the music touches my heart and moves me I don't need to understnad what they are saying.
K-pop is an industry not a genre. Even though i do not know the language, i have read the subtitles enough that i know what the songs mean. I listen to them all the time in my car. Actually none of the members had singing experience before joining BTS and only two were actual dancers. They trained and learned it all before thier debut and have been growing ever since. Before debut BTS use to do vlogs of thier training days and built up a fan base before they debut. V was hidden so he was not in them until after debut. There is a great Fan made series called the rise of bangtan that is like a documentary and tells bts story putting together thier videos and vlogs it is amazing series. I highly suggest it.
As for trainees, a trainee is simply someone who is trained to do something generally speaking. But in the scope of the kpop industry it's much more intense. People, usually teens, are scouted by companies within the kpop industry. They send out people to anywhere they can find potential talent so they go to schools, clubs, malls, the streets in public spaces, etc to see if they can find people for a potential group. Then when they get enough candidates (20+ people) and have them audition, those candidates are now considered "trainees". The trainees get tutors to help hone their existing skills and teach the skills they lack altogether. It can be rapping, singing, dancing, acting, etc. to make sure that the group looks cohesive when they debut their first song and album live on stage.
I've been enjoying your reactions; happy you got around to this! (Appreciate your multiple kudos for Taylor Mari!) I know it might seem strange to listen to this in your car. But, lots of non-English speakers have been listening to all English music for a very long time. It's really not that big of a deal when you think about it. The music is just that good! Hope all is going well with the new job!
Look at suchwita, it's a show presented by SUGA where he does interviews with other artists and all the members of bts have already been there presenting their solo albums
Hi there, 62 year old ARMY from Australia. I loved your reaction to BTS. As to not understanding the lyrics , I watch and read the subtitles. My neighbours hear me singing my version of Korean when listening to the rap line😂
RM is the main rapper, songwriter and composer of BTS with more than 218 songs credits under his name now ,his lyrics are unmatchable , please check out his stuff Change ft Wale Still life ft Anderson Pak Wildflower Joke
Thank you for finding them. Among ARMY, there is a saying that BTS finds you when you need them the most in your life. :) They all have different personalities and different talents, and they seem to combine like cogwheels to create the best balance and synergy. :) They do a wide variety of music, but basically they are rooted in hip-hop. All seven members are participating in making their songs by writing, composing, and producing them. BTS started with a small company that almost went bankrupt, so they have been very looked down and hated by Korean broadcasting stations and other K-pop fandom. So they have struggled from the beginning to prove themselves. I guess you already know, the reason why this introduction video is until 2022 is that BTS members are about to join the military. After releasing a collaboration single with Coldplay, Jin, the oldest member, already enlisted about 10 months ago and is serving under Korean law. And J-Hope joined the military about 6 months ago after releasing his solo album Jack In The Box and collaborating with J.Cole. Suga released his solo album, D-Day, and he recently sold out all of his world tours and ended successfully, and he joined the army, September 22. Other four BTS members will also serve in the military and will be reunited in 2025. So they are briefly stopping their eight-year group works and focusing on their solo work. :) They promised ARMY that each of them will grow further through solo projects and come back together in 2025 after completing their military service. As you know, Jungkook is actively working as a soloist now. ;) Can I recommend some songs that I was comforted by them? I'd like to introduce the story of the iconic trilogy that led them to a speech to the United Nations General Assembly. DNA: Joy of fateful love → Fake Love: Realizing that love was a lie → IDOL, The Truth Untold, Epiphany, Answer Love Myself: To love other people completely, you should love yourself first. These are included in Love Yourself Trilogy. Oh, RM's speech at the UN cannot be missed. He was only 24 years old at the time! Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance, these three songs were released in English to give positive energy to people around the world during the pandemic caused by Covid-19. :) Most of their songs are in Korean, and their music video provides subtitles in several languages, including English. And I highly recommend the music video and live performance of Spring Day, Mic Drop. These two songs are totally different from each other, and you can feel the diversity of their music. The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative. It'll also be fun to listen to their albums in order and analyze them. :) If you're curious about their personalities, I recommend their variety show, Run BTS. (There is also their song, live performance, and dance practice with the same title as this.) There is a considerable gap between them on stage and usual. They are actually very cute and funny. 🤣 Oh, I recommend Suchwita(meaning time to get drunk with Suga), too. Suchwita is a talk show created by Suga to promote the members' solo albums. Now, it's much larger than his initial intention, so he invited a variety of guests other than the members, though. 🤣 Episodes in which the members appeared are ep.1, 7, 9, 12, 14, 15, 18 and 21. :) You can hear the behind-the-scenes stories of the members' solo work in these videos. Suga is currently serving in the military, and profitable activities during military service are prohibited under Korean law, so episodes he filmed in advance before joining the military are now being released every few weeks. And I highly recommend BTS HARDSHIPS 2013-2021 by xCeleste. This video shows why BTS and ARMY have a strong bond and why ARMY is so protective of BTS. Sorry for this long comment. But I hope you enjoy this journey. :)
There is a UA-cam show called “American hustle life” from back when they first debuted. They came to America to work with Coolio and Warren G.- the show is both liked or hated by Army. I actually enjoyed it. You may as well.
Because they hadn't debuted yet they were all together, working practicing, writing producing recording ready to debut and they were doing their live streams talking to the fans but he was always the other side of the camera so people didn't know. He was the suprise element also there a problem with Kpop Companies trying to proach memeber's from other Kpop companies because they know how good they are and then not doing anything with them in essense ruining their chances of a career within the industry. They do it in the hope it will ruin a the group who might be a rival to one of their own groups. It's quite a cut throat business so hidding him until their debut was a very wise move otherwise the world might never have known what a talented artist he is or know BTS as it is now.
I liked your reaction 😊 Here are some suggestions: “ON kinetic manifesto film”, “Black Swan” and “Dope.” From the rap line I recommend the Cypher series, and “Zero o Clock”, “House of Cards” and “The Truth Untold” from the vocal line. I hope you’ll like them and continue your BTS journey. 🫶🏼
10:35 I can relate to that. I don't really know if I'm doing well or not, but when people go out of their way to tell me they love working with me, I'm "the best" (colleague, boss, supervisor...) it feels overwhelming but much appreciated and you can feel they mean it.
Enjoyed your reaction. BTS is not like any other group at all. They also don't fit any genre because they can do it all. Somethings to know about BTS: BTS lived together close to 10 years and 3 of those years was in that one bedroom apartment that was shown. It was them who decided to continue to live together up until 2020/2021 when they each got their own place to live in. It is not common for groups to stay living together especially after their debut. I personally believe that them living together helped unite them even more and why they are brothers, they are family. I love their bond and how close they are. You see it in their Run BTS episodes, Bon Voyage videos, In the Soop videos, their movies and all their other material. BTS is just different. Korea used a different age system up until this year that added 1-2 years to their actual age. Jungkook also known as JK, was actually 13 years old when he joined BTS. I personally believe he is the manifestation of all the members and you see this as you get to know them more. He was raised by them and what an amazing job they did. The dance line are the members who are excellent at dancing and of course enjoy it. Yes all members can dance but you have J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook and V who are really good at it. I know you mentioned that it would be hard to listen to their songs in the car because you would not understand what is being said. Trust me, once you watch a few videos with subtitles, it gets engraved into your soul that you wont need them. You be surprised how good you will get at singing along with them. So happy you decided to learn more about them. It helps to understand them more and their songs since they write most of them. There are more videos on info that would give you more info on BTS as a group and the hardships they went through and why ARMY is so protective of them. I am adding the links just in case. Please know that we, ARMY, enjoy watching long reactions especially if someone is genuine wanting to learn more about them. Just in case no one has mentioned it before. BTS is on break right now as each members serves mandatory military service. We have 3 brothers serving right now and we are expecting the reminder 4 to go in at the end of this year. They have already stated that they will be returning in 2025. Please don't hesitate to ask questions. We are here to help. It's very sweet how you want to truly understand the boys, we love them dearly. There is so much to learn and this guide is my fave intro. They are all superstars but they are also beautiful human beings. Welcome!💜💜💜 Some fun videos to start with are On-Kinetic Manifesto, Black Swan, Mic Drop w/Steve Aoki, Dynamite, Permission to Dance, Butter, and many more lol. Those will get you exposed to some of the different styles they do. It will blow your mind how incredible they are....
23:00 A trainee is a potential member for a band/for debut. At first, BTS was a hiphop group, they had 3 members (RM, Supreme Boi and Iron), there were up to 20 people training (singing, dancing, composing) in the years prior to complete the lineup ^^ J-hope signed with BigHit early on, but it wasn't until later that they decided to move him to the "BTS project". As trainees they also get to appear on senior artists MVs or even feature with them on songs, for a soft launch, but also monetary reasons XD they are the interns.
40:00 he didn't appeared on the content previous to their debut. They started uploading by the end of 2012, they debuted on June 2013, we knew about him directly with their first song/MV.
KPop is an industry not a genre. BTS is above all that. They are a Supergroup. They can do most genres of music if they decide to. They are each superstars in their own right. BTS does not mean Bang Tan Seven, it stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts. Oh about V being hidden. The group was in training prior to debut. So he wasn’t presented to the public until their debut. He was a hidden member. It is said or I read someplace that the company hid him because they were afraid he would be recruited elsewhere by a different agency due to his unique talent and visuals. Thanks for taking interest in these talented young men! Borahae💜
@@yeppoyou There were a number of reasons so yes what you've written is also correct. The main one's are what the previous poster said and what you said.
I fell in love with the Rap line and found DKDKTV explaination videos extremely entertaining and useful. He gives non pg translation in english and as an English speaking Korean he gives explaination of slang, cultural and historical references. BTS have such clever lyrics in most of their songs and they are often layered as for instance the great catchy rap DDAENG means 7 different things in the rap depending on the context. The way they play with homophones in Korean and English..... its all so very witty... the fact they can do all that yet play like all stars with the cadence and flow, rap fast slow. All fun and you should see them perform live. Because BTS are performers above all else.
41:17 there is the rap line (the 3 rappers), the vocal line (the 4 vocalists), the dance line (members who had dance knowledge before the group debuted) and so on...
What makes BTS different from most Kpop groups is the fact that they create their own music, they are very involved in that process. They are able to show their own talents. Most Kpop groups can’t, their music and image is made by the companies who control them. Most of their songs are superficial and lack of real meaning, talking mostly about money and other stupid things that makes it hard for people to relate, unlike BTS, which lyrics are incredible and moving. They are more genuine… the big 3 companies of Kpop mass produce groups and idols that give the image of being “perfect”, the companies control what they wear, what they eat (female Kpop groups diets are crazy), they are not allowed to date or basically live… even their personalities are produced, they are not genuine, and it’s not their fault, it’s the mentality of those companies that only care about image and not talent.
07:35 Paid, yes. imagine how many people watched without paying (I mean legally, in 1 living room you could have 10 friends). Hobipalooza (J-Hope at Chicago Lollapalooza) had also crazy online attendance (it was free) and their last concert in October 2022 had 52M viewers (also free) :)
Thanks for reacting and trying to get to know our boys. K-pop is not technically a genre. It’s just popular Korean music. Although most k pop is just catchy phrases and poppy sounds. BTS however does not really fall into that category. Most of their music is very meaningful and they have many genres.
Young people audition or are scouted and the signed on with a company in K-pop. Then they leave home and go join a number of other youths who are all training to become idols. They spend anywhere from six months to several years before they're added to a group and the group eventually debuts. There were several other trainees who were considered for BTS and Jimin almost didn't make the cut. Taylor Mari is going by the order that they signed a contract, from first to last and she's using the old way for Korean age. JK is actually 26. He became a trainee at 13 and was 15 when they debuted. There were three top K-pop companies with the most popular artists when BTS debuted. Those three companies are often referred to as the "Big 3 of K-pop". Thanks to the success of BTS, their own company is now a fourth big K-pop company. Ten years ago, K-pop earned the reputation that still haunts it. The groups didn't write their own music and their songs were different genres but they were all bubblegum, with no substance. BTS has participated in writing and composing their own music from the beginning and they address serious topics. Even when addressing a topic could literally end their careers. K-pop artists have been gradually becoming more involved in their own music over the years. It can be difficult to pin a single song to only one genre. Many of their songs are a blend of genres. This is all a large part of why BTS has become so successful.
REACT TO « Born Singer » by BTS. It’s the BTS adaptation of J. Cole’s Born Sinner they wrote in 2013 but J.Cole gave them permission to release it officially in 2022 for their anniversary. It’s FIRE🔥
23:56 YOU HIT THAT RIGHT THERE!!!! K-Pop is just an industry. But nowadays the US is so afraid of Korean artists that they make whole new awards for them (and that's not a compliment). Seven and Standing Next To You are K-pop too :)
Namjoon remains the only one fluent in English. Jungkook is good at pronunciation, as he has been studying it for a while. But he can't have a fluent conversation in English, he only knows the basics.
ARMY dont care how long the video is we love to watch people sincerely falling in love with the boys. Your world will change. Welcome to the Army. I Purple you 💜💜💜💜💜53 yr old South Africa

IF YOU LIKE HIP-HOP: •OUTRO:TEAR- BTS rappers song,2018 •Hip-Hop Lover/Phile- BTS song about their rap influences from old school rappers to recent ones,2015 •RUN BTS by BTS-2022,check out the concert or choreography video!!! •Born Singer- It’s the BTS adaptation of J. Cole’s Born Sinner they wrote in 2013 but J.Cole gave them permission to release it officially in 2022 •Just One Day-2014, more r&b and soft rap but I thought I should include it bc everyone suddenly learns how to sing in Korean bc it’s so catchy!! Haha There’s so much more BTS songs that are hip hop influenced and solo work as well. This is just a good starter list if you like hip hop!!!!
BTS doesn't really have a main genre since each of their albums contain a mixture of genres and some of the songs may mix elements of different genres. Some albums may have many songs of a particular genre and the next album (which might be released in that same year) would have others. It may even depend on the year, the album themes, the overall concept they're going with, what's going on in their lives or in the world, etc. BTS did debut as a hip hop idol group though, so that is why the first members were all rappers.
RM and Suga didn't want to dance, JHope and Jimin knew dance from the beginning, JK was just a natural. V worked hard to be in the (main) dance line. However, they all dance. Jin has excelled over time with dance. They're all great, they each put their heart and soul into their work.
Borahea Darling 💜💜 As an Caribbean 'Army Mom' who discovered our boys in 2016. Have always wanted to donate n 'give back' so ......I know my tiny arse Island of Montserrat is unknown (Globally) but our family run a Guest House. If you'd ever like to just get away? Please.....come stay with us - zero charge. All you need is a plane ticket, Love. Stay safe....💜💜
In BTS there's they called: the Rap Line, Dance Line, Vocal Line, Hyung Line and the Maknae Line. RAP LINE: RM, Suga/AgustD and Jhope DANCE LINE: Jhope, Jimin, Jungkook and V VOCAL LINE: Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook HYUNG LINE: Jin, Suga, Jhope and RM (the oldest of the group) MAKNAE LINE: Jimin, V and Jungkook (the youngest of the group)
Thankyou for you reaction to our Bangtan💜 for future reference all BTS MVs come with subtitles if you make sure you turn that feature on. Their lyrics are very meaningful and are important to their message. RM is a known master at word play so lyrics are important to look into when listening to their songs. Sometimes youll have to watch a mv multiple times because the amount of detail can be overwhelming. There's the beat, visuals that can be very deep and story telling, expert dance moves, amazing vocals, and intricate lyrics... They're the best at what they do and worth every minute of attention and support💜💜💜
Thank you for reacting to our boys...i know you have a lot of questions in mind, but dont worry, we will provide you with all the info that you need.. Once you get to know all of them, you will definitely love them..not only for their music but for their personalities...you might wanna listen to HipHop Lover..this is a song wherein BTS pays tribute to all Hiphop artists that had a huge influenced to the boys..You can also check Cyphers 1-4 of the Rapline (RM,SUGA,J-HOPE)..they also have Japanese songs like Cystal Snow, Your Eyes Tell and Filmout to name a few..you can also check out Fakelove, Blackswan, Spring day...They also have fun songs..(with deep meaning...hehe) like Baepsae, Spinebreaker, Anpanman..if you want a Latin Pop vibe checkout Airplane pt.2....there's a lot more songs to choose..haha..And if you want to have a good laugh I suggest you watch BTS Rookie Kings, BTS Gayo and RUNBTS..these are their variety shows...you wont run out of content once you started reacting to BTS..haha...and ARMY will be there to support you as well..thats why on behalf of ARMY.. we Welcome you to the wonderful journey with our Bangtan Boys...Borahae💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
This is a long one but I've timestamped as its mostly direct responses to your reaction. I know you struggling to keep track but I hope you get to read it. Much love from a South African Army 🇿🇦 17:11 You'd think that but the moment you've got the understanding of the lyrics n song meaning you'll definately be able to jam out in your car. You may even find yourself singing along (incorrectly but as Army we dont judge, its about the vibez). Personal note on this topic: I cant listen to the song 'UGH!' when driving. Thats just asking for a speeding ticket but if you ever need something to put fire in your chest I'd suggest that song. 23:55 Once you get into their discography 'This counts as Kpop?' is a question you might ask alot. There's alot of debate around it but if you think of it as K- Korean Pop- popular music then the only difference to expect is that there'll be Korean in the song or its sung/performed by an Korean artist. Personal note: J-hope is my bias. That chuckle he gave you at 24:17 made me smile. 26:50 The fictional storyline, known as the BU (BTS universe) is a whole trip. Alice in wonderland ass rabbit hole. Its awesome to get into but I wouldnt advise getting i to this early. It involves timetravel and spans over multiple media forms like a webtoon, short films, mobile game, music video's. It feels like a live action anime to me but it requires the watcher to be on some shelock shit. 30:45 I think its cute in the best way that you relate to Jin. His the otaku of the group, loves gaming, collects Mario figures n despite the show of confidence withthe world wide handsome his actually quite quirky and shy. 32:17 I wish more men spoke about each other affectionately and publicly. Im not saying it doesnt happen but there always seems to be a culture of competition in male friend groups or interactions. I pray for a change where it is more common place for men to hype each other up instead of trying to out do each other. Infact, I think there's plenty of women who could also adopt that change. 39:55 They just hid him away as a surprise that there's a seventh member. Whether it was part or their marketing or details that needed to be ironed out I cant say. Feels like it was something done to create a buzz closer to their debut. 42:40 Not you howling for Boys to Men 😂 46:03 (screaming) JIMIN!!!!!! HIDE YOUR GF, YOUR MOMMA, YOUR GRANDMA, YOUR DAD, YOUR PA, HIDE YO DAMN SELF! His out here snatching people like they Pokémon 😅 51:00 I agree with you. Their humilty is attractive but make no mistake they will still throw down in their lyrics n show out. Whats unique about it is that they include their fans (Army) as part of their 'bragging rights' instead of bragging that they are so awesome thats why they have fans which is usually the case for a large amount of artists. 53:59 How cool would it would be if all fandoms did this.😢 Thanks for the reaction. 💜
K-pop isn’t a genre. It’s an industry. Any genre of music, especially music groups that make popular style music gets categorized as k pop simply because they are from Korea and from Korean record companies.
Thank you for your reaction Honestly there is so I think you should react to the live performance its jungkooks promotion time so he is Armies focus right now he just he just released his album but besides all of the guys have solo work. It really depends on what genre you gravitate towards the most because they do different styles. They are just amazing!!
Kpop ( Korean music) is not a genre of music it is an industry much like the American music industry with several genres of music in it. Kpop has many genres in it like hip hop, pop,R&B etc. it is an umbrella term for many types of music. Korea also has Hip hop and Indi music ,R&B industries etc. In general Kpop groups are given music and shown how to perform , a few groups do write some of their material but BTS was given the freedom to develop their writing, producing and composing skills while in Bighit / Hybe. They had general rules of behaviour but were at the same time given encouragement to develop and grow into all round artists who could work together for the group and also do solo projects in their own personal style. This is what made BTS stand out and attract a huge fandom. They were not just puppets on a stage they were true to themselves and to their fans. Others try to copy this style for their group, and they do put out catchy music sometimes, but it all sounds the same usually because it all comes from the company not the actual members of the group. BTS is very different from the typical kpop group, and appeal to all age groups because they are very real in their words and actions, they usually don’t sing/ rap about their success but more about real life and situations that are very relatable to everyone.
So K-pop is an industry or performance style not a style of music. The West tends to call any music that comes out of Korean K-pop even if it has no similar characteristics
I'm really enjoying your reactions! Thank you! 💜 Here are some of my favorite songs from each member as well as the group. Jungkook really nails his English pronunciation, but he isn't fluent. A lot of the time during interviews and things like that, as well as for his English songs, he's memorizing the words. He's not able to dynamically converse in the language at all, heh.
When V (real name Taehyung) said he was kept hidden he meant that during his training years it wasn't made known that he was a part of the group. I have a theory about this, and remember it's just a theory, I know that other companies are always on the lookout for new great talent. At the time of V joining the group, BTS hadn't debuted yet so they didn't have a following. V is extremely talented and has an unusual voice being a baritone. Because Big Hit Entertainment was extremely lacking funds, IF another company offered V a a bigger contract Big Hit Entertainment could not have countered the offer. By keeping V "hidden" until they debuted they were assured that he would not have been stolen out from under them. Again, this is just my theory and I could be totally wrong but it make sense to me. I enjoyed your reaction to this video. These guys are a family of brothers and they have included anyone who wants to be a part of ARMY and espouse the love and acceptance of others that they themselves do. You will not regret it.
Thank you to everybody that is commenting! I normally would like to respond to all of you individually but I have lost track. Thank you to you all for the support and all the information on BTS and I will continue to react to them 💜
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
armys dont mind long reactions or pausing. don't worry about the length. when commenting pausing is cool. it shows interest. plus some reactors like to talk over the videos and then miss important info. Armys thing is a genuine reactor
Thank you so much. I felt so self conscious about that 😭.
They are an audio-visual extravaganza
Easiest to think in these terms.
To answer some of questions😊
K-pop is an industry not a music genre. The most typical genres in K-pop are pop, hip hop, and R&B… but you can find rock edm etc etc
The K-pop system scouts kids everywhere (like jin was street cast) in schools, talent shows etc… they audition thousands and select a few who go into trainee programmed for years.. learning all the skills they need, not just singing dancing rapping but things like language classes… these trainees are constantly tested and anyone not keeping up is sent home… groups are formed by the companies and debut typically uner a 7 year contract… the entertainment company does everything scout train manage a&r production and distribution.. in addition they control most aspects of a K-pop idols life performance and off stage persona… what separated big hit was that they allowed BTS members freedom to express themselves.. what bang si hyuk said in the video was in 2013 ground breaking in a way although it is more common now.
Typically groups have vocal lines rap lines dance lines . All members can do anything but the lines tend to front certain aspects of the performance… but all the rappers in BTS can sing and dance .
When BTS was formed the plan was for a hip hop group. In 2013 this was not typical… if you listen to the first 4 albums that’s what you get… but the group naturally moved towards their own very distinctive sound in 2015 and they never looked back,
But I recommend these tracks
Born singer live stage mix (a remake of jcole born sinner)

I'll be honest with you. Im an adult fan. I will be 50 at the end of the month.
I was introduced to BTS and K-pop in general by my daughter. I never understood the whole listening to music in Korean. However, after a while, the language really isn't the barrier you think it would be. You fall for the music itself. You fall for the artists themselves. They do sprinkle english lyrics into the songs as well. Give it a chance. Watch the mv with subtitles, or if there isn't an mv their are lyric videos and lyric websites.
The dance line consists of the best dancers in the group. J-Hope was a street dancer for years before joining the group. He loves to dance.
I though you were going g to just the dance line. 😂
(For 10 years)
@@jimins_missing_height777More than 10 years, as he started before he even debuted in BTS
@@erika-g4mer_yoongi207 No, I mean he was a street dancer for 10 years
Fans knew about the other members of BTS and not V because he didnt have any of this vlogs posted online.
The song RM did with Wale is amazing. J-Hope also did a collab with J. Cole that's outstanding.
BTS started out as a hip hop group to begin with, so their earlier songs were rap heavy, they eventually transitioned to an idol group
You seem sincere and honest. You may not “listen to this in your car if you don’t understand the lyrics”, we get that. But please continue the effort to react to more videos. This group is truly amazing!
If you receive any hate for this, you can ignore it completely, it’ll be from toxic individuals. 💜
And, if like me, he may eventually listen to it in his car. The music is so good.
He can join the rest of us international Armies and make up our own words and misheard lyrics once we have the melody down lol.
I found bts when i was at my lowest and watching them grow into the most humble talented gifted artist and young men the world has to offer💜
RM is a lyrical genius, especially the way he uses wordplay even between languages, composing using different beats flows rhythms.. He's also the only one who does not have a driver's license
Yoongi is my bias and I love how he's so savage.. He seems like a very cold and distant person but he's very caring and loving
J-Hope is a phenomenal dancer and headlined at Lollapalooza last year.. Hobi is the sunshine of the group, he's a beautiful smart creative man
Jin was cast on the street getting off the bus that's true, it has happened twice to him...
He's called the "golden maknae"because he's just good at everything he does🤷
V was hidden because the company feared he would be approached by other companies because of his striking good looks.V's voice is like a river of melted chocolate and his vocal range is amazing.
Thank you so much for watching and for explaining !!
calling kpop an industry and then proceeding to say bts are their own genre out of kpop as if you didn't just explain how kpop isnt a genre
@BoraBox7 First of all, if you read my comment thoroughly, you will see that I say 'a lot of fans', not 'I'. Secondly, I agree partly with that statement, in the sense that BTS didn't follow the same path as a lot of the groups from other companies (promotion, content, etc.).
But thank you for reading my comment and giving your opinion (good for the algorithm), lots of love, and good health to you!💜
@@liesbethtorney969 i just think its stupid thats all
@BoraBox7 Everybody is entitled to their own opinions! 😉
I just get very tired of all the people who are so negative these days.
Congratulations on the job! Thanks smch for learning about the guys…💜💜💜
Thank you so much and the pleasure is all mine 💜!!
A trainee is someone signed to a company who is training up skills to be able to debut.
Then on lunar newyear every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. ....
Year of birth - International age at Debut on 13June13 (Year and age became trainee)
Jin 1992 - 20 yo (2011 - 18yo)
Suga 1993- 20 yo (2011 - 17yo) Suga started with MIDI at 11
JHope 1994 - 19 yo (2011 - 17yo)JHope started dancing at 8
RM 1994 - 18 yo (2010 - 15yo) RM started rapping at 11 and was well known in the underground scene at 13
Jimin 1995 - 17 yo (2012 - 16yo)
V 1995 - 17 yo (2011 - 15yo)
JK 1997 - 15 yo (2011 - 13yo) JK signed with big hit at 13yo
Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age.
Ha, ha! By the time you say "Don't kill 'em, Suga" they're already dead.
37:12 “Every Artist cares about their fanbase…Unless you’re DojaCat” im dead!!!! Facts tho! 😂😂😂😂
Lmao I can’t believe I said that. She must have done something crazy right before 😂
thank you for watching this! 💜
Yes, please check out RM & Wale 'Change' that song/video is so underrated! RM writes a lot of conscious lyrics so they're a good fit together.
Hi there, 62 year old ARMY from Australia. I loved your reaction to BTS. As to not understanding the lyrics , I watch and read the subtitles. My neighbours hear me singing my version of Korean when listening to the rap line😂
BTS = Bangtan Sonyeondan ( Bulletproof Boyscouts)
But if you wanna call it Bangtan 7 its ok too 😂. Thank you for your reaction 💜
RM is the main rapper, songwriter and composer of BTS with more than 218 songs credits under his name now ,his lyrics are unmatchable , please check out his stuff

Thank you for finding them.
Among ARMY, there is a saying that BTS finds you when you need them the most in your life. :)
They all have different personalities and different talents, and they seem to combine like cogwheels to create the best balance and synergy. :)
They do a wide variety of music, but basically they are rooted in hip-hop.
They promised ARMY that each of them will grow further through solo projects and come back together in 2025 after completing their military service.
As you know, Jungkook is actively working as a soloist now. ;)
Can I recommend some songs that I was comforted by them?
Most of their songs are in Korean, and their music video provides subtitles in several languages, including English.
If you're curious about their personalities, I recommend their variety show, Run BTS. (There is also their song, live performance, and dance practice with the same title as this.)
There is a considerable gap between them on stage and usual. They are actually very cute and funny. 🤣
Oh, I recommend Suchwita(meaning time to get drunk with Suga), too. Suchwita is a talk show created by Suga to promote the members' solo albums. Now, it's much larger than his initial intention, so he invited a variety of guests other than the members, though. 🤣
Episodes in which the members appeared are ep.1, 7, 9, 12, 14, 15, 18 and 21. :)
You can hear the behind-the-scenes stories of the members' solo work in these videos.
Somethings to know about BTS:
BTS lived together close to 10 years and 3 of those years was in that one bedroom apartment that was shown.
Welcome to our Purple World of BTS!

Well said! Love it except maybe disagree on Permission to dance lol

Semakin kamu mengenal BTS semakin banyak cinta buat BTS semakin jatuh cinta pada nya 😊
Borahae💜
i've read the reason he was hidden until right before debut was to create hype and buzz.
@@yeppoyou There were a number of reasons so yes what you've written is also correct. The main one's are what the previous poster said and what you said.
13:00 The song with Wale is Change ^^
Good luck on your new job! Thanks for this reaction.
Thanks for your genuine reaction to the BTS Guide. I really enjoyed watching it again with you.💜
Thanks for reacting and trying to get to know our boys. K-pop is not technically a genre. It’s just popular Korean music. Although most k pop is just catchy phrases and poppy sounds. BTS however does not really fall into that category. Most of their music is very meaningful and they have many genres.
thank you for your reaction, excited to continue watching your BTS journey!
13:38 It's 218 as of now (and he's gonna drop an album soon so probably around 10 more awaiting XD)

•RUN BTS by BTS-2022,check out the concert or choreography video!!!
•Born Singer- It’s the BTS adaptation of J. Cole’s Born Sinner they wrote in 2013 but J.Cole gave them permission to release it officially in 2022
•Just One Day-2014, more r&b and soft rap but I thought I should include it bc everyone suddenly learns how to sing in Korean bc it’s so catchy!! Haha
There’s so much more BTS songs that are hip hop influenced and solo work as well.
👋 Jungkook was 13 (15 Korean age) when he joined and 15 (17 Korean age) when BTS debuted in 2013. 💜
"Nae-ga" in Korean is referring to "I" or "me"
RM and Suga didn't want to dance, JHope and Jimin knew dance from the beginning, JK was just a natural. V worked hard to be in the (main) dance line. However, they all dance. Jin has excelled over time with dance. They're all great, they each put their heart and soul into their work.

RAP LINE: RM, Suga/AgustD and Jhope
DANCE LINE: Jhope, Jimin, Jungkook and V
VOCAL LINE: Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook
HYUNG LINE: Jin, Suga, Jhope and RM (the oldest of the group)
MAKNAE LINE: Jimin, V and Jungkook (the youngest of the group)

Kpop isn't really a genre. It's an industry. There are many genres represented in kpop.
BTS has a Rap song called Hip Hop Lover I really think you would enjoy th
Na realidade Kpop é uma indústria e não um gênero. Voce pode ter um rock, pop, hip-hop e etc... E ainda sim, ser Kpop!

B-ARMY aqui também 😊💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇧🇷
You are an excellent Reactor!
Wow, thank you! This means the world to me!!
This is a long one but I've timestamped as its mostly direct responses to your reaction. I know you struggling to keep track but I hope you get to read it. Much love from a South African Army 🇿🇦
17:11 You'd think that but the moment you've got the understanding of the lyrics n song meaning you'll definately be able to jam out in your car.
42:40 Not you howling for Boys to Men 😂
46:03 (screaming) JIMIN!!!!!! HIDE YOUR GF, YOUR MOMMA, YOUR GRANDMA, YOUR DAD, YOUR PA, HIDE YO DAMN SELF! His out here snatching people like they Pokémon 😅
51:00 I agree with you. Their humilty is attractive but make no mistake they will still throw down in their lyrics n show out. Whats unique about it is that they include their fans (Army) as part of their 'bragging rights' instead of bragging that they are so awesome thats why they have fans which is usually the case for a large amount of artists.
53:59 How cool would it would be if all fandoms did this.😢
Thanks for the reaction. 💜
K-pop isn’t a genre. It’s an industry. Any genre of music, especially music groups that make popular style music gets categorized as k pop simply because they are from Korea and from Korean record companies.
You: if it bot in a language I don’t speak, I can’t like bump it in my car.
Army: yeaaaa okay. You wait
Thank you for your reaction Honestly there is so I think you should react to the live performance its jungkooks promotion time so he is Armies focus right now he just he just released his album but besides all of the guys have solo work. It really depends on what genre you gravitate towards the most because they do different styles. They are just amazing!!
Fancams of bts have the most views in kpop and breaks records exp : the highest for V 140 millions , jimin 100 millions , jungkook 60 millions
46:40 the plane scene :)

So K-pop is an industry or performance style not a style of music. The West tends to call any music that comes out of Korean K-pop even if it has no similar characteristics

Well, we know your fave off of “Golden”. 😊 it’s such a good album (and song). I change my faves. Right now I think they are SNTY, Somebody and Closer.
@@Imme_begin Honestly, I love the whole album. It's so good. 💜
Jungkook really nails his English pronunciation, but he isn't fluent. A lot of the time during interviews and things like that, as well as for his English songs, he's memorizing the words. He's not able to dynamically converse in the language at all, heh.
Oh you will enjoy it just wait 😂
