My name is Zach Johnson, I'm 29 from New Preston Connecticut. I was born November 10th which is the Marine Corps Birthday and that also happens to be the exact same Birthday as Sergeant Michael Strank, one of the Flag Raisers that helped lift the second Flag on Mount Suribachi 🇺🇲 My dream is to portray Pfc. Ira Hamilton Hayes for WW2 Living History/Re-enacting so I can tell his story. I've connected with him on such a personal/cultural level that I feel as though we're cut from the same cloth as far as him being Native North American Pima & I'm Native South American Brazilian, we both feel deeply/strongly about people and things, telling the truth, being proud of who we are, and never forgetting where we come from. It's also my dream to finally participate in a re-creation of The Iwo Jima Flag Raising because after having seen that iconic photograph as well as many re-creations of it through films, I really want to participate in one of the most historical moments in Marine Corps History. My main mission is to do Ira & his family, the other Flag Raisers, and all the Marines who fought and died on Iwo Jima justice 🐺🦅

My father in law was from Reading. He joined the Navy on 12/8/41 at 16 and by early 1942 was doing convoy duty as a torpedo man in the destroyer escort fleet. Brownie made 37 trips through the Panama Canal seeing Naval combat in both the Atlantic & Pacific theaters. It wasn't until about 1995 that he started to open up to me after he realized that I too am a Navy vet. I cherish the memories of both his stories and my brothers father in law (USMC WWII). Between all of our families we have service in WWI, WWII, Korea, & Vietnam. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
I love your video I used to be in a reenactor there for about 10 years or so my late mother and my sister used to also be reenactors but with the civilian clothing I had all the gear to Camp there the 1943 gpw Jeep the tents the whole shit and caboodle I used to love that are show unfortunately it's too hard for me to walk so I can't get up there anymore but my sister still goes up almost every year as a reenactor your video was absolutely awesome it brought back a lot of fond memories❤❤❤❤
Nice video. I was there too, make a three day weekend of it. Nice perspective from the half track. This show has so much to see and learn from the re-enactors. To see all the vehicles on parade and the planes flying, what could be better? Thanks.
