Très beau choeur de femmes et d'hommes pour mettre en valeur ce très vieux chant !
Such a beautiful and pure version of a beautiful old french song. I sang this in music class in my one year in France, back in 1970. This is how I remember it sounding. Thank you.
Sorry, but I find this version totally lacking in feeling for the language and poetry, despite being of course flawlessly sung. They're singing an enumeration of plants and birds, whereas the words are ambiguous (chose, rossignolet, violette) and symbolic, plaintive and poignant, dreamlike and a little otherworldly. There are many things in that garden that are not as well as they could be, and the poet is not discovering the birds and the bees, either. The idea of including women in the chorus is anachronistic, not only men suffer romantically, naturally, but it is a man's song, perhaps unhappy about how things are now in the once not so 'enclosed' garden...
a thing of, beauty is a joy forever
so schön!!!
Such a beautiful singing..

Il s'agit d'un arrangement de Ward Swingle.
where can I find the score?
Bonjour
Quelqu'un pourrait me dire qui a harmonisé cette superbe chanson et ou trouver les partitions?
Merci!
