@@АрсенийЧемырысТВ I know dude I want just saying what I thought was going to happen and yeah o guess that could have been a good name but he's not Japanese.
9:35 So, there's actually an explanation for that. In english, the names "Sandman" and "Soundman" are pretty different and there's not really a way for you to mix them up and confuse them because they have different meanings. BUT in the way it is written in japanese, both those names are written *almost* exactly the same way, and they sound very similar if you read them in japanese, so the reason why that "reveal" of name changes doesn't really make sense for the start of SBR is the same why most of Gyro's jokes don't work in english as well ((like his "Excuse Me" joke, wich you would need to understand and know how to say each number in japanese and then mix them up and finish the joke, but in english it just doesn't make sense :c ))
As someone who's currently learning the Japanese language as of me writing this comment, I can pretty much confirm that your answer is in fact the correct one, In order to understand the whole 'Sandman/Soundman' thing and some of Gyro Zeppeli's jokes, you have to at least have some basic knowledge of the Japanese language in order to understand them.
I def think that Sandman and Wekapipo were originally meant to be the same character but Araki changed his ideas for the story along the way. Wekapipo’s role in the story is v similar to the role Sandman was growing into + they both have strong relationships w their sisters and end up associated w Diego before meeting their deaths. I also think this gives significance to Sandman watching Gyro practicing the spin at the beginning of SBR , possibly foreshadowing him developing his own spin technique much like Wekapipo ended up having.
Okay what we need now is to wait until Araki lets any madman to write a sort of not really canon visual novel for Jojo and make the adventures of Sandman Not Soundman In Another Universe Where Jesus Isn't Trying To Kill The President

Nope, I think I just confirmed this theory. I'm reading SBR again and it shows off Sandman's Stand ability before we see his fight. The moments are brief but it's clear he has something like The Fool that controls sand. Not only is the arm that comes out of him when hes running away look nothing like In a Silent Way, he also uses his ability to manipulate sand into the sign up clerk's eye and used it to escape from his tribe as they were following him. Sandman and Soundman are not the same people, I refuse to believe it. They have to be two different people with two different Stands.

I mean Diego should know ‘Sandman’s’ scent, he along w/ Gyro, Johnny & Sandman are pretty much the top 4 contenders in the race. Also it’s possible that Sandman & Soundman have In a Silent Way b/c their Stands were born from (I think this the name) the Devils Circle & seeing as AW Hot Pants had Cream Starter, it’s not impossible for Sandman & Soundman could have In a Silent Way. But if we’re talking about design, a lot Stands design change over time as the series goes on, biggest example would Star Platinum at the start of SC & SP at the middle/end of SC, his design changed a hell of a lot, another possibility is that IaSW is an evolution Stand like Tusk or Reverb, so what we saw of Sandman’s Stand could have been the 1st stage of In a Silent Way & what we saw of Soundman’s Stand could have been the 2nd or 3rd stage of IaSW.
As others have mentioned, I really think Sandman was going to be the SBR "JoJo" until Araki just decided otherwise. There are many hints to that. Even more, Johnny wasn't even an official JoJo until volume 5 of Steel Ball Run. So I think Araki just changed plans and didn't gave a damn. It wouldn't be the first time
Sandman is based on the song (sandman) by America, in the Albem, America. And the cover art for the album, there is a picture of the bad members of America, and behind them is a wall of Native Americans. Thats what sandman is really based on. idk
Another point would be that the original sandman has been shown to maybe have a different power, because if you notice, when he pays the man to enter the race in ch3 page 15, he is shown to be controlling the sand as the man checks the jewel to get it in his eye, so maybe the original sandman could control sand, whereas the other universe soundman could control sound
I like to imagine an alternate version of this character. One where he survived his battle and began stalking Johnny and Gyro for the rest of the journey for their corpse parts. He wouldn't interfere majorly, but he would be a constant nusance, maybe destroying the canteen before Johnny could grab it during the Civil War fight or maybe even point the Tatoo You gang in their direction. Then, after the Civil War fight where Valentine had the entire corpse, Sandman would confront him about payment for their deal. Valentine only pays him a fraction of the bounty for not fulfilling it entirely, despite going above and beyond the original deal's parameters of just fighting them once. This would link back into Sandman's statement about the white man only knowing one thing, money. He abandoned the Steel Ball Run and his chances of saving his people's lands for the sake of servicing the people he despised most. He lost sight of how to properly win, and now he wants revenge against Valentine. At this point, Sandman will replace Wekapipo during the Valentine fight. (Not the Magenta Magenta match-up, that still goes to Wekapipo. He will be rendered out of commission until the end of the part.) There, he will be forced to ally with Diego yet again to achieve his goals of killing the President. Maybe he even sneak into the President's study and figured out what Valentine is ultimately after before anyone else. Maybe he sees this as his last chance to right his wrongs and steal the corpse in order to keep misfortune away from his tribe. Now he is fighting for his own ambitions, it's a true villain on villain fight. But, just like in the original, Diego betrays Sandman and uses his body to save himself. (In this version, Sandman betrayed Diego earlier in the Silent Way fight in order to take everyone's corpse parts for a better deal.) It will be karmic justice, but still a tragic end for a man who lost his way and attempted to regain fortune, only to be cast back into the hole he created himself. He dies thinking about how much he failed his sister.

Soundman was honestly the most interesting and relatable character in steel ball run. A native American trying to buy his land back from colonizers is such a gripping narrative. His stand ability wal also the most to look at.
Meti this video opened my third eye. I love Sound/Sandman so much (I totally wanted him to win!!) and I now accept your alternate universe theory as canon

I haven't read SBR yet and know almost nothing about sandman but when I heard he was native I actually felt over joyed to have a character that I can relate to a bit more than the others
You know what? I think your inference here is really likely given the personality shift, different stands, and clue with Valentine's cabinet. Unfortunately it seems like Sandman was just retconned, which is a damn shame.
I believe the name could also be a reference to the song Sandman of the band America, the song talks about about a man running form another called the sandman, "He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye, Of a hurricane that's abandoned" it says. the band america has another song called "a horse with no name" that fits him since he participates horseless

Even more, Johnny wasn't even an official JoJo until volume 5 of Steel Ball Run. So I think Araki just changed plans and didn't gave a damn. It wouldn't be the first time
Your bit of Head-canon about Sandman and Soundman being different people makes so much sense, I T J U S T W O R K S ! ! !
You should totally make a fanfiction with that idea
Just noticed that sandman’s tattoo is coiled and the snake tattoo on soundman is slithering or something
Beautiful
Damn that was a great theory.Love the videos keep it up.
Glad to see that you’re making good content again
Meti the king of alliteration nobody does it like him Fr
the stand see like tezcatlipoca (god of mictlan or inframundo)
enter sand man
Enter Shad man
daniel dragotti stand man
That theory makes a lot of sense because I always thought Sandman working with Valentine was weird
Sandman/Soundman theory
*HAMMON BEAT WANTS TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION*
I could swear the fact that Soundman was Sandman from another universe was obvious to me, although I already knew what Valentine's ability was.
ECHOES! ACT 4!
Holy corpse balls meti, you just blew my fucking mind with this sandman/soundman thing
I have a bit of theory for sandman’s stand, well I think sandman had a corpse part and funny valentine killed him took it and replaced him
Interesting. Literally yesterday we got a character in My Hero Academia with the ability to create Sound Effect Constructs
Yeah that was a cool fight, can't wait to see how Momo acts next chapter
mha is overrated. it pisses me off on how suddenly everybody starts loving it.
@@sus4644 it's good. But yeah its overrated
"UH" sound
@@invisibleair2156 Really? I see it get more hate than praise honestly (although it does get a LOT of praise). The hate is mostly from the Jojo fanbase it seems
Sandman has imo, the best motivation to want to win the Steel Ball Run race.
Yeah, this theory gives me a lot of relief and I thank you for giving it to me.
Part 8: Soundman
...
Part 4: Echoes act 2
🤔🤔🤔
In a silent way
Localized name: Within a quiet direction
That’s a great theory someone needs to have Araki confirm this
9:17 "You mean the 'Chaos Emeralds'?" So Beginning SBR Funny Valentine = Dr Eggman without a Stache?!
Soundman was honestly the most interesting and relatable character in steel ball run. A native American trying to buy his land back from colonizers is such a gripping narrative.
His stand ability wal also the most to look at.
But daaamn he can run fast!
Edit: also, In a silent way has one of the coolest stand designs ever
One of my favorite Stands that's massively underutilized
Meti this video opened my third eye. I love Sound/Sandman so much (I totally wanted him to win!!) and I now accept your alternate universe theory as canon
I know a lot of people wont understand but as a native american its nice to have some representation that isn't just some background character that shows up for one or two pages. I haven't read SBR yet and know almost nothing about sandman but when I heard he was native I actually felt over joyed to have a character that I can relate to a bit more than the others
very wholesome comment :>
in a silent way reminds me of the design made in heaven from part 6
You know what? I think your inference here is really likely given the personality shift, different stands, and clue with Valentine's cabinet. Unfortunately it seems like Sandman was just retconned, which is a damn shame.
Yet another great theory by [not] the bad guy
Honestly his intro made him seem more important than he actually was
this makes so much sense! otherwise why else would araki introduce him so ominously from under the trapdoor... like that was a ~choice~
Your theory on the alternate sand man makes a lot of sense
Lol either its Araki being very clever or Araki forgetting what he wrote down again
Ok thanks
I really wish that Araki writes a spin off of Sandman, like he did with Rohan, Kira, and Fugo
8:20 that's some jurassic park logic right there
Huh , with Sandman's name I always thought more of "Sandman" by America.
I was rooting for the guy.
That intro had me dying.😁
I believe the name could also be a reference to the song Sandman of the band America, the song talks about about a man running form another called the sandman, "He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye, Of a hurricane that's abandoned" it says. the band america has another song called "a horse with no name" that fits him since he participates horseless
Probably one of the coolest stand names.
I just got the Steel ball Run volume 1 manga and it is entirely in french. Good thing thats the language I take.
Imagine if the SBR team had Sandman helping against the D4C Arc
This was a really good video, also Shimoneta
What if Sandman will make a animal with a word "Nuclear Explosion"
I really believe Sandman was originally meant to be a JoBro like Tonto in The Lone Ranger. Seems like it would fit in my opinion
The Theory just cure a headache I been having for years about the guy's sudden turn evil moment but it makes me wonder...What happen to Sandman? In the other world he was switch into did he get his wish or is his land long gone? Or was he killed during the switch out?
Probably killed then they took out the new one
The Sandman and Soundman thing only makes sense in Japanese, as they are pronounced almost the same, and Soundman saying that Sandman is just a bastardization of his actual name. It just doesn't make sense to us because we have a very clear pronunciation of the two.
You actually said tarahumara pretty well. But they actually are called raramuri, tarahumara is the way they call the runing way they do and means "of ligth feet"
gave me a chuckle during the intro
