When I was a kid my dads company sold Kverneland plows in the US. I used to run the tractor for the demonstrations he put on for the area farmers, it would always be the crappies rockies ground he could find to run the demos on, I think I always pulled and 8 bottom with a Ford 9600 with duals and extra weight in the front. At that time no plow made could handle rocks as good as the Kverneland plow!

Nice plow. Why isnt it possible to drive "on land" with the tractor. When plowing day after day that is an advantage ergonomic for the driver aswell as the soil in the bottom of the furrow is not pressed by the tire. Is it a design mistake or is there another reason? (Many plows can be pulled "on land").
You are correct, in some countries the On-land ploughing is requested. We already offer 4 plough models for the On-land possibilities for semi-mounted ploughs: PN/RN and PW/RW; and 4 other models for the mounted ploughs

In the old days, when moldboard plowing was still common here, lots of guys preferred in furrow hitches because of heavy clay soils and typically 2 wheel drive tractors. When conditions were bad, you had better traction in the furrow. Stomp the diff lock and keep going. Our IH Vari-width moldboard plow from the 1970s is still one of the pieces of equipment that I really liked. It has most of the features of this thing but without all the complexity of making it two-way.
From a lazy farm boy point of view, we plowed with a 1950's era Wheatland style tractor with the tire in furrow. It tracked so well, you didn't need to steer the tractor until you hit the end of the field.

@@lazareedzogo1403 that depends on a lot of things such as soil type, ploughing depth and so on. Realistically, a six bottom plough isn't going to be much fun with less than about 120 hp, I would say. We pulled a six bottom IH Varwidth with 150 hp. (IH 1468, and Case 1370, and IH 3588). Typically ran it at 18 inch width but in light soils, wider. If memory serves, I think it could go up to 22 inch and as narrow as 14. Really good rig. One of my favorite pieces of equipment. The moldboards were rapid turnover, so it may have required more power than this plough. I really don't understand the need for a rollover design. So much complexity and expense for so little benefit. Maybe guys working on terraces find it useful. Not sure.
