[Please don't repost this video. If you want to subtitle it to your language, there's an option right here. If you want to share it anywhere else (Facebook especially), please do me a kindness and link the original version or my channel in it. Thank you :D]
First off I want to apologize if the quality of this video looks a bit ruined, I had terrible problems with my vegas and I tried to render this about 5 times before I decided to do it in parts then put everything together. I was in the verge of tears to be honest because each time took almost 2 hours to get to half of the video done but then it would just freeze and I had to do it all over again!! UGH!! Also, the borders are because my watermark got glitchy and kept flickering and it was weird as fuck lol.
Anyways, it's here at last, my first Sansa video! I'm actually so nervous bcause I wanted so bad to do her justice.
She is, as some of you might have noticed, my absolute favorite GoT character by FAR, and I will protect her till the day I DIE.
It makes me sad that so many people still view her as the least likeable main character on the show, when in my opinion she had the BEST positive character development by a great stretch.
Sansa was only a 13 year old when she left her home with the dreams and hopes most young girls have at her age. She was innocent, naive, and very sheltered by then, and at the age of 13 she had to deal with more loss and pain most people can even begin to imagine.
She's underestimated because her kind of pain wasn't the one you get from a battle. She's no warrior. No queen. She didn't have a sword to fight her monsters nor did she have three dragons. She actually had no one but herself.
Just keep it in mind that Sansa was only 13 when:
She became a hostage in the castle of her dreams
Lost her direwolf Lady, who was sweet and innocent (like herself)
Watched her father get decapitated, a command given by the boy she currently had feelings for
Was copiously beaten and humiliated for all court to see
Was sexually harassed by grown ass men
Was almost gang raped during an uprising
Was psychologically (and physically) tormented by Cersei and Joffrey, the one she was supposed to marry
And then at the age of 14:
She got married into the very family that had murdered almost her entire family
Used as a pawn for a murder plot
Considered guilty though she had literally nothing to do with it
Manipulated by littlefinger aka Westeros' actual pimp, who had a creepy, pedophilic obsession with her
Who later own would send her into sexual slavery to the psychopathic son of the man who betrayed her family
Honestly she has gone through so much shit that I could go on forever about how she's a massively underrated character who deserves to be appreciated more. Most fans seem to enjoy epic one liners and badassery and people who just solve things by going head first into physical fights that they don't stop to think about the many other types of strength portrayed in this show.
Sansa is so strong, because even after everything she went through, after being used like currency, abused by people she thought she could trust, r*ped and beaten and terrorised, she held her head straight up and got revenge for herself.
She was the one who convinced Jon to fight for Winterfell and she was the one to hand him that crown. She's such a fucking BOSS!
So anyways, the point is: I love Sansa! And I do hope you all love her too.
Thanks for watching and I hope you guys enjoy this video.

Anna133199 I think she’s phenomenal as Sansa Stark. When she steps into another role though, she isn’t very convincing for example her performance in Dark Phoenix. Despite that, I really do love Sophie. A character thrown into the world of cruelty and monstrosities, without family, friends, security nor love, who somehow managed to keep her gentle heart even after all they did to her. A young girl with crushed dreams, hopes and body, who chose to keep going despite all the horrors she had to endure. Someone who shies away from violence because of her tenderness, even after all the violence she witnessed and felt on her own skin. That isn't as cool as swinging your sword or riding dragons, but it is brave, and it takes a lot of strength. Surviving is sometimes even harder work than fighting. Sansa Stark is a survival, and a heroic one at that, and that's what she'll keep doing until the very end. So many fought and so many lost, but Lady Stark, you may survive them yet.

Sansa’s always had a baseline understanding of navigating politics, even before her father was murdered in front of her. We see it from the moment she lies about not knowing what happened between Arya, Joffrey, and the butchers boy. She understood why she always had to publicly take Joffrey’s side. She always knew when it was appropriate to lie and to whom. Whether it was to Cersei about her loyalty to Joff, to the knights of the Vale about Baelish killing her aunt Lysa, or to Jon about partnering with Baelish to bring the knights of the Vale into the fold for the battle of the bastards. There’s always been a politician in her just waiting to come out.

She did have spirit I give her that. I just cant for the life of me figure out why she didn't tell Jon about The Knights of the Vale. Jon gave her several opportunities and I was holding my breath waiting for her to tell Jon that she requested aid from them but nothing.. I hated Sansa in season 1 (just as most people), she suffered so much that I was rooting for her. UNTIL, she lied to Jon, her own family. Jon, gullible Jon. Lets see were the remaining of her story takes us.

    • @MayumiSaegusaShiba
      @MayumiSaegusaShiba 7 років тому +27

If Ramsey KNEW that the Knights of the Vale were present, which he definitely would have, afterall, it's hard to hide one of the biggest armies in the continent, do you think he would have fought them? Definitely not. He would hide inside Winterfell and wait for Jon's camp to die off. Jon camp would never survive a seige, surprise was the best route. Though I do think she should have at least told Jon that she called the Vale, it's understandable that she didn't, given he never really thought anything about her opinions (repeatedly rejected her plea of getting more people) and the uncertainty that the Vale would even come at all. I actually hope she'd be the opposite of Jon, it would be what the North needs. They need a cool, rational head that would think before they act. Sansa's exactly that.

I like it how people who always try to find the reason to bash on Sansa point out that she is a sadist and psychopath cause she watched Ramsay getting eaten to death, but seem to forget how Daenerys coldly watched her own brother's head being melted, as died in agony. Even tho what Viserys did to her seems like a bad pedicure in comparison to what Ramsay did to Sansa. Hipocrisy much?

I love this! People like to put down Sansa's character saying she's weak and annoying. To them if she's not killing people like Arya is she's not cool. But people tend to forget that if it had been anyone else in the Stark family, they wouldn't have survived what she went through in King's Landing and Winterfell. There's no way Arya or Jon, while I love them, could have survived the political machinations that Sansa endured, they're too blunt. That's why she's a favorite of mine, even though she's severely underestimated. Thank you for perfectly portraying that in this video!

Well I think Sansa gets some of the hate cuz people keep wanting to compare her to modern-day girls. During a similar time frame in the real history, woman would have been brought up to look for husband have kids that would have been their future the thing they fantasized about. I doubt very seriously modern day women would have survived not the situation, and unfortunately there's only so much the show can have come across, she is more aware what happens at court then what she lets on and plays on their opinion of her. Biggest thing as well people tend to forget she was only 12 when she was forced to marry Tyrion in the books I know the show had an age difference but they had to keep the character resembling the book side to some degree

Sansa survived King's Landing because she took the Hound's advice, 'Save yourself some pain, girl. Give him what he wants'. So, she recited the lines her septa taught her, like a 'good little bird', and didn't give the Lannisters an excuse to hurt or kill her. In a way, she had to live as Dany had had to with Viserys before he sold her to the Dothraki.

I believe that the part in the video was the part where (Spoilers) Sansa freed Ramsey's dogs and they devoured him and it just fit there and if it wasn't that part, then it was another part where Sansa wanted to look away but decided to still watch and it was just genius to put that quote for a scene with Sansa, because of their family bonding. It's just a thing that fits. We often believe that our loved ones are still somewhere around to keep an eye on us, even though they are already gone. It reminds us that they never really leave us after their death, but still keep being around us and for that, the quote was just geniusly placed :)

Yes she was naive and could easily be manipulated because of that and I don't think that was her fault. I personally COULD NOT stand her at first but the more I watched the show I realized that I wouldn't have been any different. I am in no way as strong or brave as Ayra. I can't wield a sword and when it comes to something like being told what to/not to do, no matter how wrong it may be, I do it. Because I'm told to. I may be living a way better life than Sansa but I still feel a part of her in me.
YOU are an AMAZING person for making this! I can tell how hard you worked on this and you made me love Sansa a hundred times more than I did before. TRULY AMAZING!😍👏❤

I literally cannot stand people who hate and want Sansa to die because of her actions in book one and season one. She was naive and a goody two shoe, she thought she could trust the queen who had been her idol at the time. If anything I think people hate Sansa because she's the most realistic and she isn't fiery like the other women in the show. She didn't get her dad killed. Ned signed his death warrant the second he told Cersei he knew her secret. And even so...she has paid for her mistakes. She was getting abused in King's Landing, the show actually kind of downplays how badly and often she is hit by Joffrey's Kingsguard, on top of having to pretend her family are traitors in order to survive. Also I think people forget Sansa tried pushing Joffrey off the ledge.

i got so teary watching this. so much hate for her character, she was a child who had hopes and didn't know the world and people want to punish her like she somehow deserve what she got. she didn't ask for any of what was done to her. she didn't have the best choices she had to deal with the cards she got that was force to her. thank you for making this video. i love sans and i thinking you captured her struggle and unfairness and strength she found through it all.

This is absolutely stunning, made me cry. Defiantly the best Sansa edit iv ever seen. Sansa is also my favourite character by far, I cant stand it when people complain about how much they hate her. People always go on about how "stupid" she is for never standing up to Joffrey but like you stated in the description she was only 13 when she went and lived in kings landing. He was her teenage crush, she dreamed of marrying the prince and one day becoming queen just like every other girl her age. When she found out the monster he truly was she was petrified, she couldn't run away or hide. She was all alone constantly being humiliated and tortured. Her character development is unbelievable, she's so strong.

I'm actually sitting here crying because of this video and your perfect description! 😭 Yes, YES, to everything. Sansa is the strongest, most resilient character on the entire fucking show. She gets knocked down so many times, in so many different ways, by people she thought she could trust, but she always gets back up again. She's been shown nothing but cruelty but she still cares about people.
This video is beautifully, epically, wonderfully edited. I love the quotes and clips you used. And LOVE the quote at the end - genius! Your use of zoom in/out and transitions always make your videos a pleasure to watch.

This was beautiful. Also, I very much agree with your note under the cut. I only want to add how smart she actually is, as a hostage she did what she had to to survive, people begrudge that she didn't fight back and resisted more in kings landing, not realizing that would have gotten her tortured and killed. She did the smart thing, she bowed her head and played the pawn to survive and maybe if she's lucky fight another day.

People hating on sansa mostly because she's feminine, tender hearted, unlike how strong women portrayed these days with guns and all the killing. I always think a woman doesn't have to use weapon or go to battle field, or act like men. I mean if u see girly, tender, patient woman as weak but u think only woman who acts like men is strong, then you're the one who hates your gender, you're the one who's ashamed to be a woman.

Exactly. Not every woman is going to be an Arya or a Brienne of Tarth. But those are not the only ways to be strong. Also, people like to ignore that Daenerys was a lot like Sansa in the beginning. But she just found her resilience a lot faster and then she had dragons.

not everyone can be lyanna mormont, not everyone can be strong when they're that young. lyanna mormont was raised to be a warrior; sansa was not, she was raised to be a lady, she had no tools to fight against the torture that befell her the last few years.
i really hope the arya and sansa thing gets resolved, because goddammit, sansa stark deserves *better*

this was such a gorgeous, emotionally evocative tribute to a character who doesn't nearly get as much love and respect that she deserves.
she's also my favorite character in both the books and the show (as you can see by my icon lol) and this video brought me to tears. you touched on her trust issues, her understanding of what it means to be proud of the Stark name and the journey she took to get there.
she suffered so much for so long, by herself and she's still standing. tbh Sansa's arc on the show is one of the ultimate survivor. and you've encapsulated that beautifully here.
also that ending scene. MY HEART!!!! that was the perfect touch to an already perfect video.

I love that this shows her change and development. Sansa is main character who has developed, who has learnt and has become a better, stronger person from it. She's the reason I'm still watching the show after the writing from the last season and it's the reason she is my favourite character.
I will be so annoyed if the writers start writing her out of character (say if she betrays Jon) and if they either kill her off mind arc or don't give her the death she deserves.

What an amazing tribute to Sansa, I can't believe I missed it! Your editing isn't just gorgeous, it's thought-provoking. You don't do anything by accident and the song title is "Looking Too Closely" and that song's 1st line says "This is a song about somebody else." Forgive me if my analysis is far off but as a Jonsa fan I can't ignore the Jonsa undertones here. This video is about Sansa, for sure, and other commenters have already say all the praise I wanted to give you for her character study. But I think that this video is about somebody else too and that's Jon.
    After showing that Joffrey was the wrong person to trust for Sansa 1:31 the lyrics say "put your hands around somebody else" --> Sansa hugging Jon;
3:09 lyrics say "And I could be wrong about anybody else" implying anybody else EXCEPT --> transition from Sansa as a stupid little girl who trusted everyone to Sansa as a grown and smart woman who trusts no one, and she's sorry that she didn't trust Jon about the knights of the Vale. She should trust him because (to their knowledge) it's just them now--> 2 additional shots of Sansa and Jon alone together. Then the voice over of Shae's advice to Sansa "Don't trust anybody" partly explains why Sansa doesn't trust anybody. But immediately we see and hear Jon tell Sansa "we need to trust each other" meaning that he acknowledged that the mistrust went both ways because he himself went through a lot and was betrayed by his own men. So like Sansa, trust wasn't easy for him, plus they weren't close as children. But now there's no choice, they must trust each other. And Sansa tells Brienne "I trust him" (Jon), which is out of order on the show but it fits the narrative here that Sansa trusts Jon after the BotB is won. She couldn't trust him before the battle, why? Continuation of Shae's advice: don't trust anybody because "Life is safer that way." Jon promised Sansa that he'd protect her before the BotB but she was still skeptical "no one can protect me" because Jon wasn't listening to her, she's no war strategist but too few men is too few men and that's why she humbled herself and asked for LF's help behind Jon's back. She'd actually warned Jon that she would get Winterfell back without him if she had to. Even Jon admitted that she's the one who won the battle.
3:58 Sansa tells Jon "Winterfell is OUR home" as opposed to her words to Myranda "I'm Sansa Stark of Winterfell, this MY home [another shot of Jon and Sansa hugging] and you can't frighten me." Actually Myranda did frighten her, and Winterfell wasn't truly her home at the time because she was a Bolton prisoner. Home isn't just the place where you live it's also the people who live there with you. So when Sansa went back to Winterfell with Jon, yes it was her home.
And many have commented on the brilliant second to last voice over, when Sansa is about to look away from Ramsay dying by her sentence: "Don't look away. Father will know if you do". Who said that? Jon!!! And you didn't end with that quote, you ended with one that's clearly about Sansa because this video is about her. But it's also about somebody else.
Somebody else who was stupid like Sansa ("You know nothing, Jon Snow") somebody else who had to live among enemies and who found out that things weren't the way he'd been told as a boy; somebody who loved the wrong person, and that person tried to hurt him even though the feelings were reciprocated. Their romance died abruptly too because one of them became a "traitor".
I can't remember the timestamp but when Sansa told Baelish in the godswood that she was stupid for ever wanting to leave Winterfell, Baelish reminded her that she was a child. Just one child because this video is about her...correction in the immediate next shot, Jon telling Sansa "WE were children". They've both been stupid, they've both loved and had a rude awakening about that love, they've both trusted too many people. But against all odds, they've come together and they made it home.
Whether I'm off or not, this video is so beautifully and skillfully made that it's driving me insane from overthinking. Your coloring and transitions always blow my mind!

I remember how she once told Robyn that girls didn’t take part in the punishing of criminals where she was from. When I heard Jon’s words to Bran echoed while she watched Ramsay be eaten by his dogs, I cried. Watching Sansa learn about what humans can do to one another, watching her innocent naivety being ripped to shreds was masterfully done. You are an artist in my eyes. Thank you!

Ned's child who looked the least like a Stark but had Stark stoicism the most.Birthed by a Tully and shaped into the woman she is by a Lannister.People say she is calculating, cold and cruel like Cersei. It is Arya who is cold and cruel like Cersei.Arya propagates the type of vengeful violence which Cersei loves.Arya is the one who would have made a good daughter for Tywin Lannister.A match for the streak of violence in Cersei. It is Sansa who learnt from Cersei's wit and realistic views and combined it with Margaery's kindness. The Rose and the Lioness would have been proud of the Red Wolf under different circumstances. The best Queen of them all.
