I am the only one in my entire family including my grandparents and relatives further back that has become conscious of my shadow, complexes and psychological barriers. I have dealt head on with all of this after experiencing serious mental health issues and not only have other family completely suppressed, denied and ignored all their issues they passed on all their unresolved crap. I have grown increasingly infuriated because all of this has ruined my relationship with my son because no one else has acknowledged this. I have failed at fatherhood and hate my past thanks to my ancestors who I despise. Evil exists and it can be seen in every denial of truth.

Yes, It’s interesting to do a deep dive into what makes one sibling dwell in the shadows while another refuses to “go there,” only entertaining the superficial material. Not only are they raised by different versions of their parents, but their interface with us, may make them reject the shadow-world as well.
It’s more “crazy-making” for us when family refuses to process the constellations thereby consciously or unconsciously creating more suffering for us, themselves, and their legacy family.

Another really interesting video-podcast! As student of Jungian psychology and as a parent, I am becoming more and more aware of how my complexes and those of my husband's affect our two boys. As you said, Lisa, it is impossible to avoid them, but at least we somehow inform our children about them. I feel that somehow, doing this, we give them the chance to free them slightly from our personal burdens, although there's something deeply rooted in those complexes. I also love the dream analysis you three did. I have a profound rejection towards death, which could explain my obsession with Gothic literature and horror. A few months ago I had a dream where I was wearing a white doctor's gown, but unfastened, and was in some kind of hospital where there was a lot of colour, light and peace. I worked the dream with my analyst and there's some change taking place. I have recently started a collaboration for a project with a thanalogist and it feels like the right place to be. Thank you for all the wonderful work you do here. 🤗

THIS is such a complex and important topic would you consider expanding into a 4 part series or more?

So very interesting again. Thank you.
P.S. 42 minutes: washing out plastic bags- my mum did that in the early 1970's here in England. She grew up in a poor family before and during the war. Her fear of not having sufficient no matter how hard she worked, also due to low pay for women , never left her.

Wow, I can resonate so much with Joseph ‘s mentioning of the Jupiter overspending archetype, because I feel my parents’ stingy life style is so traumatizing

My mother kept the true identity of my father from me- I found out via genetic testing- I believe it contributed to my development of bipolar one disorder. Nothing like a big secret to ruin someone’s mind!

I don’t think a big secret can cause an organic brain disorder

Great Jungian analysis of the death complex dream. One thought I had about the cats and tires in the basement; maybe the dreamer is trying to deal with death on a metaphysical level. The cats representing life energy " living" in the old tires aka black holes or tunnels witnessed in many NDE? Fear of death requires a dekve into and knowledge of that analagous basement. Enjoying #thatjungianlife !

    Thanks TJL, great podcast.
A podcast on Jungs relationships could be interesting?
Every time the 3 of you touch on the subject there is a noticeable position you each take and I just wonder what an investigated, long form discussion could open up?
Affairs being such a human, sensitive and personal subject . While Joseph’s intelligent and wise explanations on the subject neatly place it in a tidy container, what other might there be to circumambulate?
For example in Paul Francis The Shamanic Journey (Spotify) Ch 4 or 5 discusses maintaining 2 primary relationships as a component of ancient shamanic practice.
Was it just as simple as an ‘affair’. Are the other terms used for their 3 relationship in anyway justified or are they merely platitudes to an embarrassing situation.
What did the relationship with Toni reveal to either or both of them; what was facilitated by it; what couldn’t have been achieved without it; ultimately could all of their / the family’s, suffering because of it, have been worth while for some greater good, or was the suffering only painful, shameful and humiliating with little to no benefit?
