- My Dad - Canadian Artist Tom Forrestall - is an amazingly prolific sketchbooker. Everything from personal appointments and correspondences to large studio paintings find their naissance in the pages of his books. Day and night he catalogues every idea that occurs to him. His paintings are often preceded by exhaustive sketches and analysis of their shape and subjects; writings on his musings about art and artists. So much material averages about 10 full books per year. Here is a sample of his books from 2011 to 2022. Pause on any frame to see what goes on in the artist's mind.

@@frankforrestall Just read the description now. Remarkable really. I met him after Garrett Deane died and had tea and shortbreads with him and Father Innocence a few times. He showed me a bunch of sketches of Garrett. Done from memory I think. Garrett had one of Picasso’s sketchbooks which was really cool and stuffed with notes and letters.
