"Ship of Eunuchs" Time-lapse Painting

The title is a reference to a strange chapter in world history that was playing through my mind as I painted. Once upon a time in a distant empire there was an administrative class eunuch servants who seized control of the royal palace and held the family hostage through the second half of their dynasty. The wiley administrators played kingmaker through the reign of three emperors before their hold on power was finally broken.
I'm not retelling the story with the painting but perhaps seeing a parallel between the wiliness of the eunuchs and these mysterious masked figures in their flying dragon-fish-boat.
