I think Jay means that he prefers the Foreigner recording. Heavy Jay, interestingly, there was a spiritual component to this song, lending power to the recording, no doubt due to the choirs participation. From the wiki: "We did a few takes, and it was good, but it was still a bit tentative. So then they all got round in a circle, held hands and said The Lord's Prayer. And it seemed to inspire them, because after that they did it in one take. I was in tears, because my mum and dad were in the studio too, and it was so emotional." - Mick Jones on recording with the choir.[8]
New Jersey Mass Choir sing the background on the Foreigner song. So the the original has them too. Side note, Donnie Harper is my uncle and godfather, I have a few relatives, including my mom, in the choir. So I grew up with them and didn't realize so many other people were listening to them. I was surprised when I started finding uploads of their music on UA-cam.
I still love this song I was just a kid from Jersey when this song came out ❤🙏🏼
This song is still the best in my life
my favorite song thanks for sharing
Very nice video, recorded back in the 80's in the Netherlands (part of a weekly live show called LosVast). Brings back quite some memories!
My goosepimples have goosepimples!!!!!!!
There was a movie in which NJ Mass Choir did this song. Forgot the name.
They appeared in Foreigner's video for this song. Is that what you were thinking of?
Is that THE Donald Malloy ?!?! Wow!
Bet it smell like sweat, activator, ultra sheen, and jovan musk cologne in there!
They did good but I prefer the original. Ive felt that this song had a more spiritual meaning.
This is the original

I heard their version two years before Foreigner.
Who else thought they sounded white?
Not a soul. 😊
