In the church where I used to be back in the 80s but I wasn't saved. I was in the choir and we used to sing the song. Now I used to sing this after church at the bus stop on my way home. Or whatever I was going and I sang with all my little heart at the time but little did I know God would use me one day. Little did I know that I would have an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and truly gets aid from a multitude of ugly ugly seeing. And Jesus would deliver me from what I was in. I did not know. This song right now I haven't played in a while and I'm going to put it in my saved songs.
It was my pleasure to upload this song. This whole album brings back so many memories for me as well. This and "I What To Know What Love Is" are my favorite tracks on this project. The others are not bad either. May the Lord bless you real good. This is gospel nostalgia all the way.
I was a member of Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James Cleveland that was a sister that used to sing this song and she would do the lead ours was a little slower. And even though at that time I was on drugs and going through everything I was going through I used to stand at the bus stop and I will sing the song in a strong alto voice and I've never forgotten it. Here am I, many years later 16 years ago freshly saved by the Lord Jesus Christ. And then I realized he heard me sing that song Use Me Lord in thy service here in my Lord the Harvest is ripe but the laborers are few. And here I stand flat-footed with the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a bona fide Street minister and I jump in wherever the Rope terms I jump in because people are going through out herr. People don't know God, are they once knew God And even overtake advice in. But I'm here to remind them he loves you, he's got a place for you at the cross, he wants to see, he wants to deliver you and heal you.
I remember this when I was a little kid. I was THEE biggest Donald Malloy fan. When he was on the same concert as my dad and his choir, I was starstruck lol
Amen. Most choirs wore this one out back in the day. Awesome song with a great message. Most songs today are "me" songs. This is a classic "them" and "He" song and gets to the heart of the purpose of the church in the earth.
Bishop- Pastor Rance Allen New Bethel Bountiful blessings Cogic choir use to tear this song up under the direction of minister Chris Byrd, those were the days.
My goodness. Found it. Lord have mercy .. I used to blast this song every morning before I would go to work...and also in my headphones with my walkman.... Thanks for sharing this. I had this album. Update! Someone gave me a copy a couple of years ago.
Thank you so much Gospel Nostalgia for recording this song. I was looking for it because we used to sing it too in our youth choir back in the mid-eighties when we were teenagers...and my friend who used to sing the lead just passed away. So thank you bringing back precious memories. God bless you.
WE ARE HERE TO BE USED BY THE LORD TO DO HIS WILL, MAKE UP YOUR MIND AND YOU WILL DO WELL, THE HARVEST IS RIPE, WE NEED MORE LABORERS, IN CHRIST JESUS, AMEN
typrsn1, YOU ARE THE MAN!!! I remember playing this on my cassette player. I dubbed it from a radio (WWRL-1600AM) station back in the day! Simply Beautiful! I wish churches would do more music like this. Churches today, are on the Praise & Worship circuit. We moved from our soul-stirring renditions and grooves that made Gospel music peak from 1978 to 1995. A great time and period for black music as a whole.
My church choir back in the 1980's song this song almost every Sunday. We had an awesome lead singer, sounded like Donald Malloy. Classic gospel. Awesome posting.
I couldn't agree more. Donald Malloy is awesome. He is a very underrated vocalist. His voice has a distinct signature. Definitely one of the best voices I've ever heard and I do know a thing or two about gospel.
Oh My GOD! I very seldom am speechless, but this is one of those instances in God's divine providence that this has occurred. Ty, I cannot even imagine how you were able to, off of my sketchy 20 year memory of the Pine Bluff District (COGIC) singing this song under the leadership of the late maestro, Jesse Earl Carter, were able to find this song!!! I can only imagine it for me has been like finding a needle in a haystack! Man, I'm in tears right now. You just don't know how you've blessed me.
My Friend A. Jeffrey LaValley Wrote a Great Song, Love The Phraising Of Donald Malloy And We @ Bethlehem Revival Temple Niagara Falls Use This Arrangement. Note I Love the Thomas Whitfield-Keith Pringle Arrangement Too!
Glad this is nostalgic for you. Keith Pringle recorded this under the song title "Saved To Serve". I have posted both versions to UA-cam, but I like this version by Donald Malloy, Donnie Harper and New Jersey Mass better.
Who said that? This is one of my favorite songs!!! Now, todays so-called gospel music is about ME. It is not? Like it once was. I love this song. There was a lady named Tonette or Toni, in Rev James Cleveland's choir, she had a rough alto and she used to tear this solo in half for Jesus!!!
Jeff, you know that millions of us "Whitfield/Pringle Followers" loved this song But i chose to Minister Your Superb Arrangement at Bethlehem Revival Temple, Niagara Falls NY sharing the link!
