Jimmy, you really do not need a disclaimer or even feel the need for an apology for taking on a client like this! Your fans watch for the work you do. We love to see the tricks and techniques you come up with to do what many of us would consider impossible tasks. I don't care who is paying you, so long as they do not think that in doing so, they can dictate how you do it or what you can show.
It doesn't have to go anywhere, although I can imagine your disappointment. Still, the design and techniques are very clever and you may not have done this had they not commissioned it, so there is a benefit to your fan base, at least those of us that watch for inspiration.
***** just about most tools can do the job , it more about your own skill level, and has little to do with the quality of a given tool. i have seen boat builders in central america make beautiful boats and canoes with very poor quality tools and with out electric .. and one bad sharpening stone.. if you want my honest opinion about DeWalt, the tools are ok. full disclosure i purchase all but 2 of the tools in this video before they ever contacted me, i have all brands and they are just about the same... even the coveted fest tool... it is just about all the same.. i use fest tool craftsman delta port cable Skill ridged jet..... all the same in my opinion.. I have no endorsement deal with any one but 3M.
***** as i said in the description , i was paid by dewalt for this video as a commercial. noting to hide. i have no relationship with dewalt at this point. in fact don't ever buy these tool. you'd like festool if it is "quality" your after all the wood workers use fest tool.... check the wood whisper. he will review festool
I'm 67 years old and I learn more every time I watch you make something ! And I've been doing this type of work for over 50 years ! You are amazing !!!
you are one of the people that are inspiring me to grow up good and buy tools with my money instead of useless videogames or something if that nature you make me want to spend time out in my garage building stuff and things instead of sitting here man you are an inspiration and thank you for taking your time out of your day to make these vids
Great chest Jimmy. I'm so glad new people are getting to see your talents for the first time. Many of us have had the pleasure to follow you for years. You still the man.
11/27/23 In Late November 2013 I was I was 27 years old and my kids were 11 months old. While searching for Dewalt tools this video popped up. It forever changed my perception of what was possible. I can remember thinking about how I wanted to binge more of his videos but he had only a handful at that time.. This is the video that changed my life. Thank you Jimmy if you had never made this video I may have never known just who I would become. Love ya brother.
the only video i've seen so far where you actually show power tool branding, i remember i clip where you stated that you would rather brand yourself and you don't show any branding whatsoever and i fully agree! great video man!
I love your work, what a talent! Wish I was taught how to do such work, but I am a 62 yr old grandma who only quilts! But good Lord blesses us all with different talents. Id love to see a box like that made in a quilt pattern called Log Cabin! How fun!
After watching the awesomeness that is Jimmy for a couple years, it is hard for me to imagine anything he does is at normal speed. That box turned out awesome! the simple little additions of the edging and the rectangles really changed the look of it. Blown away once again.
Dear Jimmy, That was an awesome video! Thanks much. I was mesmerized and just watched with my jaw hanging open….Was a shipyard carpenter many years ago, your finish work is beautiful. Great video editing as well, I really like the stop frame/time lapse. Reminds me of watching Gumby and Pokey as a young lad!
Is there anything you can't make? I've watched virtually all of your videos and they inspire people (especially me) to just go out and create something, anything... I pat you on the back sir, great job!
The first thing that comes to mind when I watch your amazing videos is "How many times have you hurt yourself doing this?" and "Oh my god. this is amazing." Even though I don't work with power tools, I do some chipboard stuff and I still manage to learn a few tricks from how you go about building your amazing objects!
So cool! I hope they donated the tools! If so, great idea for both you and them! Hopefully you get a TV show or something. You inspire people to want to build things, so it's only natural.
thank you ! the vid was to feature the Gyro driver i am using.. alway tv talk going on .. but youtube is where the heart is ! thank you for the kind words !
For a second there, I thought that Jimmy was cutting that thing while smoking a Cigar! Turns out, it was just a marker. Phew! That was a close call there... Oh and the clear coat. God I love natural colored wood. JIMMY YOU FORGOT WHEELS!
I actually enjoyed some of the more blatant attempts to advertise for DeWalt such as the tape measure being positioned perfectly in many shots and the logo of DeWalt on the table saw blade when the blade stopped spinning... I found it to be quite humorous :) And great video, as always!
Jimmy I like the look of the dovetails with the exposed plywood end grain. A very different approach....and might I say thinking out of the box! Nice job I really love your craftsmanship.
Damn that was a great video. I can't tell you how awesome it is to watch things come together and fit just right, this is what does it for me as a woodworker
Hello Jimmi my name is Egisto Paolo I write to you from Sardinia a paradise island of Italy. I would like to congratulate you for the extraordinary and fantastic work you make. For me it's a pleasure to see your videos look at them and look at them several times. I hope one day to build the dewalt gearbox. Still thank you Jimmi greetings from Sardinia
I know it's an old vídeo, but I had to comment on it. The 2 things I liked most are the hand made joinery of the box and the way the lid blends into the frame of the box. Awesome details like this pop out to me.
I am so glad you dont use a bottle of glue for every damn part of the box!! Some of these people think that spreading a 1/16 of glue on every surface is the "proper" way........ but thats only for contact cement to bond.......... watching your videos makes me miss working in the metal shop
ha i love the disclaimer Jimmy and think it is completely not needed. you are a craftsman of the highest caliber and you make the things you do with the tools you prefer. me and the rest your fans couldn't care if you had a Ryobi sponsorship so long as you are making the beautiful things you do and love doint it. on an amusing side note there are many you tube guys who have sponsorship's or at least make no excuses for the tools they prefer like wood whisperer and powermatic or the samurai carpenter and Makita.
Hi Jimmy Follow a lot of your channels. Thoroughly enjoy them, especially the banter with your brother. Your vision and design is something to be in awe of, for any budding young craft worker. Keep it up and let's have more.Cheers Dave
Some guy or gal is going to be the luckiest person in the world! I hope it's me! Great work as always Jimmy! I zen out while watching your work! Always amazing craftsmanship!
Pretty sweet DeWalt hooked you up. Could've been Skill or Ryobi... Ive watched a ton of videos on UA-cam and your work inspires more than anyone, keep it up...
Really enjoyed that, very cool to see tools that are accessible to all being used by such a skilled craftsman, something all of us can try to attain. Keep up the brilliant work.
Ha! I had written exactly that DeWalt should bring you a truck load of tools and a little money, not too much money, so you keep making these vids! Glad they heard the call!
You are one talented guy my man and I have watched this video at least 10 times. I subscribe and love the tips. Especially the wall hanging video- just awesome. I am a DeWalt guy anyways but I love seeing the router trick with the clamps. Never thought of that. Well done and thanks for making this vid sir!
I don't see why people are complaining about DeWalt paying for this video. That was very openly stated, and really didn't have any real effect on the video. The chest was cool with or without the branding, and it's dead simple to make as well. Frankly, I like the branding on the chest. DeWalt is a good brand, and that chest looks pretty sweet with their logo on it. I'm tempted to build that exact chest.
Sometimes I feel a lot of your projects are a little half baked, or at the very least "niche", but this was super cool. Gave me a lot of neat ideas, thanks.
Cool Chest Jimmy. Very nice work. Oh and don't bother apologizing to anyone they paid you to make it and that is a job. You did an awesome job for them. Forget all the naysayers. They don't deserve an apology.
Ha. Didn't see the title or description of the video, but halfway through, i'm like, "man... is this a dewalt commercial?" ;) Love my dewalt tools. Cool project. I might have to make something similar.
yes, NOW they do, but I bet when he bought it, Porter Cable was still an awesome mfr. Now as Part of the one of the biggest scam Monopoly's, they are being diluted and being made in Mexico and China....who would have thought that Menards Chinese tools would one day become superior to Home Depot's chinese crap. Even Echo is crap now......nothing is good at Home Depot or Lowes.
Cool project! Agree with the other guy, I watch your channel for tips and what I call impossible ideas. Keep up the great work! I'm defently giving this ago!
Bye far this guy is the best ive seen on UA-cam not sure you would be able to find better off UA-cam keep the videos coming im new to your UA-cam videos but I want to see much more thanks for the great videos
From a recent devotee. I just love your video style. Would have thought this one was sponsored some sort of tool company but I couldn't quite make out which one.
I liked the Porter Cable drill. I have the same one. Not switching to DeWalt. How ever the track saw does look tempting. By the way enjoy the video's and every time the hammer comes out I chuckle at the noise from the track being sped up.
makita is where it's at. Sweet box though. this man is a monster on the bandsaw. I feel it's the only power tool he would really need based on his vids. I've been watching them on breaks at work for the last week lol.
I remember seeing and commenting on that box from a previous video. Glad to see you filmed it! I'd "like" it a thousand times, but I just don't care for facebook.
I have to say, I just lost it when I saw the Dewalt(R)(TM) tape measure sitting there during one of the cutting scenes. I know it's a sponsored video and Jimmy says so upfront but it's still hilarious to see SO MANY dewalt tools and dewalt branded... everything all over the shop in every shot. I suppose they got their monies worth and the viewing audience gets a nice if chuckle worthy video to watch.

And that's when he realized, shoulda put wheels on it.
God I cringed when it scrapped across the floor. Such a nice looking box

Dear Jimmy, That was an awesome video! Thanks much. I was mesmerized and just watched with my jaw hanging open….Was a shipyard carpenter many years ago, your finish work is beautiful. You would like frank howarth's UA-cam channel, then.

Reinout S i thought 'Dirty Money' had been canceled
Jimmy, you are a god of wood/mixed media art. Best videos on UA-cam. I'm still planning on getting the DeWalt Sliding Miter Saw. That thing is sweet.
Popped up in my feed today, an oldie but a goodie.
For a second there, I thought that Jimmy was cutting that thing while smoking a Cigar! Turns out, it was just a marker. Phew! That was a close call there...
Oh and the clear coat. God I love natural colored wood. JIMMY YOU FORGOT WHEELS!
ha ! no real cigs fr me in 25 years ! thank you , yes wheels !
It's got to weigh like 150lbs... You can't lug that thing around, throw your back out man!
I actually enjoyed some of the more blatant attempts to advertise for DeWalt such as the tape measure being positioned perfectly in many shots and the logo of DeWalt on the table saw blade when the blade stopped spinning... I found it to be quite humorous :)

Muchas gracias Sr.Diresta ,es toda una inspiración para mi y un gran maestro.saludos desde España.
Good job Jimmy. I make all kind of boxes with box joints I happen to like the looks of them.... Look forward to you next project...
You put DeWalt on the box!? Not Diresta? I guess it's ok, I'm sure every screw says Diresta on its head.
It's going to be slightly awkward if he ever decides to change his name.
+butts what if he gets a wife?
butts what?
butts i live in germany, here often men change their last name in marriage. lol
Germany has become a laughing stock.
Damn that was a great video. I can't tell you how awesome it is to watch things come together and fit just right, this is what does it for me as a woodworker

I wish I could get work done that fast! Great build, loved the clamp on router fence.
I am so glad you dont use a bottle of glue for every damn part of the box!! Some of these people think that spreading a 1/16 of glue on every surface is the "proper" way........ but thats only for contact cement to bond.......... watching your videos makes me miss working in the metal shop

Seeing all those DeWalt tools kinda reminds me of Bumble Bee from Transformers.
Really enjoyed that, very cool to see tools that are accessible to all being used by such a skilled craftsman, something all of us can try to attain. Keep up the brilliant work.
More great work from Jimmy! I always enjoy seeing a new video. Thanks Jimmy for taking the time to share what you do!

Nicely done Jimmy! True, not enough wheels..

Good job and a thumbs up !!!!!

I liked the Porter Cable drill. I have the same one. Not switching to DeWalt. How ever the track saw does look tempting.
By the way enjoy the video's and every time the hammer comes out I chuckle at the noise from the track being sped up.
DeWalt must be pretty awesome, you managed to ake that crate in less than 10 minutes!
Awesome job. Those details make that chest so cool.
makita is where it's at.
The end made me laugh... it was almost as if you'd made a coffin for all the DeWalt tools and the next step would have been to bury them somewhere ;)
Hermoso trabajo de alguien que tiene mucho oficio Felicitaciones Maestro
Your shop should, or better saying, NEED to become a tourist attraction. I for one would love to pay you a visit when over there! Another awesome cool piece on this video! Congratulations Jimmy! :)

First time visit to Diresta, that video was so much fun to watch! I thought I would see Benny Hilly pop into view with that grin when you were hammering at first. Well done the chest and the video. Thank you!
(your channel was recommended after I watched a couple of Laura Pausini music videos(??) isn't it wild and wonderful how these algorithms work?)
In any case thanks again, I shall watch the rest of your work.
"He put so much... God damn lacquer on that thing, it was accident waiting to happen!" kudos to who gets the reference
I have no idea how I ended up here, but I find it strangely satisfying to watch.
