    It has to be said, but the quality of your work is exceptional. The paint work on them covers is something else. I'm loving these videos.
    As someone who owns a 900 Thunderbird, these videos are just perfect, I'm keeping the lot for future reference. Whoever buys this bike is going to get one hell of a well sorted out bike. Brilliant. 👍🏍👍🏍👍🏍

    Kwel trick soaking the gasket and spray lube on engine gasket! For years I use paint scrapper , skillfully straight off.... I like your idea .. wish I thought of it years ago..... much easier on aluminum covers...Glassy finish!! 😎. ( there’s no captions on this video, takes good 24 hours for UA-cam put it on, but seeing what you’re doing). Awesome!!

    Another great job Del, been using the same paint on one of my Busa's over the last few days, it really is great to pait with and has a great finnish too. I always previously used a etching primer before l'd apply a top coat, but you dont need it with this paint, thank you for recommending it to us all, and showing us how to get the best results by how you apply it. Thanks again Del 👍

    I’m dismayed that in such a well equipped workshop you still don’t use a decent ‘soft’ gasket scraper or tool to prise off engine covers. I know you know what you’re doing but you might have watchers born in the shallow end of the gene pool with the extra-clumsy chromosome who will end up gouging their mating surfaces.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you Peter, that's very kind, that would be a good idea for a video maybe, just finding time to fit it in... enjoy your projects and remember, that 90% of paintwork is preparation before you even pick up the rattle can, 5% is practice and the other 5% is patience, put those together and you'll make a good result every time!

    8:29 - It was at this moment Del realised the fan was wired in reverse & that some swine, deranged by the love of weight saving only bare metal finishes can provide, had cunningly left a pile of little white chicken feathers in the ducting . . . don't worry though, it's only his jealousy.

    What kind of paint are you using ? Do you mind sharing the link? I got inspired by your videos and i purchased a 1999 thunderbird sport ! A long long way to go as she’s been neglected but hopefully your videos will help me get her back in shape. I am thinking of painting the wheels , fork assembly and engine covers with the same color. Did you apply the same color on all compartments ?

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  3 роки тому

      Hi there, don't have a direct link, the material is Simoniz 'Tough Paint', it comes in other colours and gloss as well as satin. It is a protective stone chip paint, formulated for cycle parts, bumpers and crash bars, so very flexible and durable... check out our other videos in this series, if you go to the Playlists on our Channel, open the TT Legend Playlist, then the whole series of this year long project is there, I've painted just about all the black parts in it and only the final bodywork will be in 2k paint... good luck with your project, have fun and enjoy the journey my friend.

    Amazing rattle can work, Del! BTW, was that a plug gapper tool you used in the disassembly? Was 80 degrees F here but dangerously windy, so we couldn’t take advantage of it for a ride out unfortunately. Hope you both are staying safe there! This nonsense has got to end soon... I think I’m going to do my own FRO vlog pretty soon.

    • @Moonfleet41

      Hi Gary, it was a little plug gapper and it's the perfect dia. to seat snuggly in the cap slot without marring it, was conscious not to lean on it and twist the tool, but as you saw, it wasn't tight and just popped open, worst thing you can use is a screwdriver! We're fine here, still in lockdown but slowly restrictions will be lifting and life getting back to normal, guess we all just have to be patient aye?! Keep safe both, D&Px

  • @greenambles
    @greenambles Рік тому

    Yikes! Clearly taking off the engine cover far from the straightforward job it may seem. I'd hugely appreciate any good advice from experience from either the man himself or viewers on what I hope a relatively straightforward job. I've a mainly black Triumph Street Twin and in the November sale bought some parts on sale including black engine cover fasteners. These seems like a straightforward exchange BUT I noted from research including your specific time-lapse of screw removal order at 1:37 that there a VERY specific order in which the engine cover screws should be loosened and then removed. As I'm NOT actually removing the cover but just replacing the screws do I need to do so in the specific order? Anyone got a video of this being done (I couldn't find). TiA

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  Рік тому +1

      Hi Barney, when replacing an engine screw set, just do them one at a time, no need to worry about any order... take one out, replace it and torque it up, and then move on to the next one so that at no time is any more than one screw removed... pay attention to the torque settings for the screws and a dab of medium threadlock will make sure they stay put... Good luck with it mate.

      I've actually never heard that term before, but i totally understand it, and really appreciate your kind compliments.. it will dry satin finish, but the smooth surface will still look great.

      Bruv, it's Friday night, pour yourself a large one, put your feet up and find something on the telly to fall asleep too... how different it is since we were kids... 'it's Friday, it's 5 o'clock, it's Crackerjack'... I guess we got old, you could always go clubbing with Maude, but don't join her in the kebab at the end of the night cos the chilli sauce will play havoc with your indigestion and you know she gets punchy after a few pints..... ;-0

      Last time we went clubbing we got chased off the ice by Greenpeace ! spoil sports , bought her a fake coat in the end . She never knew !
      I say fake , it was actually monkey fur from my tree house traps outside the laboratory 🙈
