Today I got my first board in like 12 years because watching you guys made me want to try skating again. I didn't really do trickskating back then, I was just riding my board around my neighbourhood. Maybe you'll get a comment below one of your videos soon how your first volume of tutorial videos either got me to landing my first ollie or how I broke my first bone skateboarding. Thankfully having the shop apply the griptape before shipping was an option so it will be a while before I have to either get it off or apply new griptape but I'll remember this when the time comes ^^
Jon Gutierrez actually a poseur ( yes it's spelled like that doesn't matter ) is a person who acts like they skate or who actually skates but acts like he's much better then he actually is. This guy just goes "I can't even stand on a skateboard." - how does that fit into the definition of "poseur" ?
“Roll it off like a chef” that’s a great idea actually. And I would recommend their video called “How to do a Ollie tutorial” and yesterday I literally did it. That video worked like a charm. (And btw it said how to do it in a day. You can find it in their description.)
When youre pulling the grip tape off dont pull it up at a sharp angle, keep it close to the board like its folding in half. Anything like tape, stickers, grip tape, etc., pulls off better that way. And heat definitely helps loosen up the glue.
OFcourse, I can't thank Aaron and other braille guys enough cause they have entertained me so much back in the days! :) And I am glad that they are still making videos, not as good as they used to be but still :)
most glues are making physical bonds with the surfaces. glue is essentially a very low viscosity fluid. by heating it up, you are increasing the viscosity (making it thinner). so heating it up and then pulling is the way to go! thanks Lance for helping these guys out!
Because you could have stept in mud and stept on your board afterwarts and your griptape is all dirty but your bord is brand new so you just replace the old grip with a new grip so you can skate your brand new skateboard with good grip
For a number of years I worked at a professional sign shop and I had to remove vinyl often. I believe the easiest way is after you have the start you roll it over a dowel or something, once it's made one wrap around it will stick to itself and you can use a blow dryer or heat gun to help it along as you just keep rolling the dowel.
i've used a heat gun to great results. more heat and quicker than a hair dryer. I had to remove grip tape from five boards for a project and it peeled off super easy.
Been watching a lot of your video. Appreciate you guys keeping it “clean” for family time. My 8 year old loves watching the videos and keeps asking me if we can go and see you guys. We live in North Bay.

So I ordered a board and it came with grip applied on it, but it had air bubbles and stuff, but the worst part was that there was a graphic that covered the top too and I wanted clear grip tape so I could see it. If I peel off the grip tape would it peel off part of the graphic too????
You guys inspired me to skate the only tricks I can do is a Ollie and shuvit I watch you guys everyday it’s a habbit for me. You guys just made me skate
It‘s better, when you first cut with the razor around the board, and than you can pull it off! When you remove 1/3 from the board, you can put it on the ground and put a foot on the board to remove the rest of the griptape!
I have never liked skateboarding and never owned a skateboard but your channel is inspiring me and I might get a skateboard. Although I'm more of a DIY person so I might just make custom skateboards
i think this video should be renamed to aaron kyro sponsored professional skateboarder from the san francisco bay area attempts to remove grip tape from a skateboard
Yeah, when I removed grip tape for the first time, I learned heating it up with the hair dryer over top was the easiest :D. Also I've been notified of your guy's uploads, hah! :P
If you have any glue residue in the board, use a paper towel soaked with rubbing alcohol and it will dissolve it without doing any damage to the board. Bonus points if you can find the little alcohol wipes.
Once you get it started, start rolling it up in something cylindrical like a thin-ish rolling pin, the leverage and constant pressure on the peel point makes it slide right off. Way easier.
So what would you recommend i do if i have that spray on grip tape? its very worn down, do you think it would even affect the new sheet in any way? should i just lay it over? i have been thinking about this for months now and would like any advice. Thank you.
Once you have it halfway, flip it around and start the other side, so you can have the same leverage when pulling. Like when you were sitting on it. Then once you get so far, you can just grab both ends and pull together.
aaron i noticed in an interview with nka you said your most common injury is a sprain/ rolled ankle right? whats the fastest and best way to heal your feet/ ankle after you die?

Hello Braille so I told my friend about this method long ago but he told me that doing that also warms up the glue between each piece of wood damaging it little by little can you reject/confirm this? Ty :-)
G'day Braille team I noticed that you were getting the best pull force whilst sitting on the board, and after halfway it was getting tricky to hold and pull at the same time, I would recommend turning the board around and starting from the opposite end once you got halfway, so you could still sit on it. Watch this video reduces sale revenue of Revive skateboards by 50% and doubles the sale of AM grip tape.
Because if it is a good board sometimes you can left the grip out of grip before destroying the deck and need to replace it.
