The Strokes - Live on MTV Europe. That is the two songs that were broadcast, in 2001. Setlist : 01. Is This It 02. Last Nite www.shesfixingherhair.co.uk
I saw this on a mpeg 13 years ago before youtube existed and I was instantly a strokes fan from then on. I heard the strokes before, but after seeing this video, I not only heard, I listened. So great on so many levels... "I'm gonna shit on your floor."
shit, look at the talent, it's an excellent songwriter and singer, fuck the physical, hahaha, but I agree that he was alone, lol, I cry for that, I want single again hahaha
I was justttt a little too young to dig this when it first burst onto the scene (I was like 13); by the time "Room on Fire" came around , I was on board. But what I DO remember was having a whole lunchroom conversation about, when they performed this same year on MTV Casablancas spent 90% of the time on a stool, and, having never heard The Velvet Underground before, we were debating whether or not the band just seemed "fucking lazy" lol. Being used to pop-punkers pogoing around, this essentially seemed like a bunch of dudes who just couldn't...fucking...bother (which is more or less dead-on haha). Because of the endless back-and-forth pendulum of pop music, they ended up being striking BECAUSE they were apathetic motionless fucks lol
I think Julian busted up his knee and was confined to a stool for a bit. he hobbled out on crutches, but towards the end, he threw the crutches aside and did the rest of the show standing.
@@pg9193 You know what, I think they might've mentioned something about that in the great oral history "Meet Me in the Bathroom"...either way, though, that whole apathetic, lackadaisical don't-give-a-fuck thing went far beyond one gig...it was part of their whole aesthetic!
julian was chuckling for a while before delivering the “i’m gonna shit on your floor” line
he 100% planned it before lol
i love the “i’m gonna shit on your floor” v artistic choice
