Fun fact: things like "wool of bat" and "toe of frog" are actually nicknames for plant parts. For example, "eye of newt" means mustard seed. I think that's why none of my potions have turned out quite right...

Toe of frog: buttercup leaves
Wool of bat: holly or moss
Adder's fork: a potion ingredient of unknown effect, the forked tongue of an adder (snake)
Blind worm's sting: This is a lizard that looks like a worm. It's sting is it's bite. Perhaps they used the poison or tossed in the worm
Lizards legs: Ivy, genus (Hedera) and other creeping plants. Potentially, might include poison ivy and poison oak.
Howlet's wings: a potion ingredient of unknown effect, a wing taken from a howlet (owl).

My favorite song from my favorite Harry Potter film. Honest to god they were just not playing around with the cinematography for the third installment.
That first Dementor scene felt like the series wasn't playing around any more.
The Prisoner of Azkaban was definitely the start of the series beginning to mature.

Why am I imagining about a scene where Gryffindors and Slytherins having this petty prank war with each other and each is planning and putting traps secretly in different unsuspecting places for it to be put off and release some joke hexes and jinx on unsuspecting passerbys.
You know what's funny it's actually Canon that until Voldemort came to Hogwarts and split the unity of the two houses the two houses were actually good friends. And the bullying that we see today was actually a prank war that voldy moldy took WAY too far.

Growing up I heard double double toilet trouble and thought it was a clever play on the phrase. I thought it was meant to show the difference in attitudes between the schools, about how Hogwarts believed in free expression of wizardry and the other two were concerned with fostering a disciplined air

The lyrics for whole song are taken from Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which I assume is where James Horner got this line from ; btw, Horner was notorious for « borrowing » pretty much every classical composer’s work, so any reference to him you may find in the future could be a reference to someone he plagiarized
It’s the first scene of act IV of Macbeth, with the three witches speaking (also known as the weird sisters, which is also the name of a band in the magical world that Tonks particularly likes if I’m not mistaken)
