When you have a dangerous heart surgery done to you and surviving it inspires you to write a composition of 3 songs that describe how you felt before going through with the surgery. This man was a legend a genius and a legend very difficult to find these days.
12 years after discovering this man's music, I am still listening to it, and still loving it. To me, it is as fascinating now, as it once was, when i first heard it. How much of today's modern music can you say that about? I dont listen to a lot of rock albums that I used to listen to growing up, or any other genre really, besides jazz. Modern music often lacks dimensions considering how repetitive it is, and how similar songs or albums can be from the same band-- but not this...this is timeless...
Gracias maestro.
What an amazing piece played by the composer himself, and what a fabulous guitar that sounds like made exactly for him! So sad that we can't hear him no longer😥R.I.P, maestro.
MAEEEESTROOOOOO!
Samuel RF If you practice hard and regularly, you could master a piece like this with a certain level of ease. However, with all of that practice you may never write anything of any note for the classical guitar.
Henry Dale I disagree again. if you study hard, and compose with care and regularly, you can. This piece is great, but a big cause of this is the virtuosistic skill needed to play. Still, this is a meaningless discussion. Seems like we write for our personal thoughts, rather than proofed arguments.
@@13buthead No man it doesn’t work like that, for writing music you are talented or are you not but be a technical genius can be everyone if he will practice a lot…
From 1:15-1:50 I can picture flashes of different civilizations, the start of the industrial revolution, different cultural movements, people dying, and people being born. Wars being fought, etc. And the world is tired.
Too many chromatic notes, and non traditional chord progressions would confuse anybody prior to the 1800s and for most of the 1800 as well. The more modern the "classical" music is. The harder the harmony and Melody are to understand. Believe it or not. The average music fan today has a much more refined pallet then the average musician from the 1700s. Hopefully that explains it.
Bravo ! Mes plus vives félicitations ! Odette
Every time I think I've figured out another part of this song, I go back to this clip and go "dammit, I missed another triplet" or "I misplaced the timing again". Damn you Dyens, for making such amazing music! :p (Completely amazing man though :P )
This is absolutely impossible… stop lying to us dude… this piece was written in 1984, and he was really famous in this moment already, so stop talking some stupid shit
My father studied with Roland Dyens at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique. They both studied under, Albert Ponce, and I had the pleasure of meeting Roland many times in my life. He would call me "joufflu" because I was always a bit rotund. What I wish people knew about him is that he was a very funny man, and he loved to joke around! The last time I saw him in person was after he finished "Sor & Giuliani", and my family visited him at the Conservatoire where my dad once learned. Roland became the teacher there taking the position of Maestro Ponce, deservedly. I kind of knew that it was going to be the last time I would see him, due to raising my young family and not wanting to travel too much. His last words to me were, "I'm glad that you did not want to play the guitar like your father and me, because it gets tiring to do this as you get older (touring/travel). Suerte, joufflu!". . .in reality none of this happened, but thank you for reading my story! I hope I brought a smile to your face today 😁
amazing, I saw this guy play in Deland, Florida, some time ago... bout a year. Unbelievable. I recommend his piece "Flying Wigs", it's beautiful, my fav.
Hey guys, Today I've uploaded the whole 54 minutes video, where this video was took, with english subs. There is an interview, and more songs played. Enjoy!
This is a killer piece. I am glad that I can at least find his published sheet music in North America. I'm not quite ready to tackle this piece but I want to at some point. Salut!

May this genious rest in peace.
saddest piece of news of the year!
He revolutionized the instrument. He was working at some transpositions of Astor Piazzola....
Agreed, I didn't really care for all the celebrities that died that year but Roland Dyens was a guitar giant who will be greatly missed
He by far outgrew his preceding masters - Lobos, Barios, Segovia, etc, etc
we're not going to let him get away with spelling genius like that right
@@kingnero03 was about to say genius*

1000%
Rest in peace master this is my favourite composition of all time I will never be able to play fuoco like you did

This man is a genius. I find it harder to compose sth like that than play it. I love the ending
I disagree. I believe it's much harder too play than to write ( in this case).

So grateful to all the music and the inspiration you have given us, I wish you were around longer. May you be resting free, wherever you are❣️
When you are writing "classical" guitar music and decide to start slapping the bass line!!! Boss level: EPIC!!
Listening to this makes me wonder: How would people react to hearing this in Bach's' or Beetoven's days of living? so much emotion.

It was an honor that we spent some time talking in Portugese, Italian and Spanish down in Mottola.
