Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera)

No shade to the eastern hardwood forests, but they are pretty dark places to try and survive as a tree...wait, maybe there is shade to the eastern hardwood forests! In this video, part of the Tree Talks with Theo Hoss series created by naturalist Theodore Hoss, we learn about how this beautiful and long-lived broadleaf species thrives and seeks sunlight in spite of competition from other broadleaf trees all trying to do the same. Featuring several specimens of what is commonly known as the Tulip Tree or Tulip Poplar, this deep-dive into the life of this species will hopefully serve as a solid introduction to this tree and some of its life-traits.
