Moominvalley has been a major part of many people's childhood (mine included). It's great to see it finally get a new video game adaptation.
The game is already on my Switch, can't wait to play it. PS I think it's "TOH-veh YAN-son."

As a someone who grew up watching Moomin, it's so awesome that they made a game based on my childhood show.
Been a Moomin fan since I was a kid, nice to see a game that actually seems decent with thought put into it, since so many games like this end up being lackluster attempts or quick cash grabs.
I grew up with Mummitrollet (mommins), so super excited to actually play a mommin game
Can somebody who doesn't know the source material still enjoy this?
I think so although I doubt they’ll explain much of the worldbuilding or lore because it’s kind of never explained anyway. Moominvalley stories are told in a story book/fairytale style where strange things happen but since they’re not strange to the characters it’s never really scientifically explained. It’s a whimsical natural world and I’m sure you’ll be able to vibe with it!
I didn’t know this was known outside of the Nordic countries. It’s pretty big here in Sweden as it is from a Swedish speaking author although she was born in Finland (These is a Swedish speaking minority in Finland). Cool to see a game of this that I’ve known since childhood.
It was on TV in Ireland when I was a kid, so I love it. My wife is from New Zealand, I got her into it now too. We spent some time in Japan, it's crazy how popular Moomin is over there
Don't you know the Japanese anime series of the 90ies. Check them out here on youtube.
Moomin has had a lot of international adaptations outside of its native Finland. Apart from the Japanese anime people already mentioned, there was a German black-and-white tv-puppetshow (with marionettes), a Polish stop-motion tv-series, a Russian animated film (where Snufkin looks like a duck for some reason) and the new 3D series which is a Brittish-Finnish co-production.
@@theyakkoman ... German puppet show ... yep, Augsburger Puppenkiste, but I am slightly too youg to know this as original broadcast. Imagine, it was a LIVE TV puppet show - crazy nowadays!
Do we know around how long is it?

It depends on how you pace is. The speedrunners will make it in 1.5 hours, people like me, who enjoy it deeply might spend 10 hours or more within the game. I played it already twice.

Whats the framerate like?
It was pretty good on my switch, I think I can recal a few times it might have been a tiny bit slow but the fact I can’t say for sure is a pretty good sign I would think

this sounded like a paid ad but the game looks great too. Would be a better review if there was any negative and not just a poetic marketing speech :/
i feel like expecting any type of negativity in a video about moomins is just sad
idk i also can't think of anything negative when i talk about moomin. ;)
I had that impression too. But I am not paid by them, and nevertheless, I've got the same impression as the maker of this video. The only negative things, that I found in the game, were a couple of minor bugs, they are already working on. The second thing might be, that for action fans, this game might be a bit boring. There's nothing really evil in the game, so on one hand it's perfect for children. On the other hand this might be too sissy for the hardcore fraction.
