He has won premier league, league cup, fa cup, Euro and World cup. Consistently performed when the City team was has been exceptional and below par. He has literally been the most consistent playmaker in the prem over the past 6-7 years. He has to get a mention is one of the best midfielders in premier league history.

One of the greatest ever to grace the premier league. I dare to say that he’ll go down as Man City’s greatest when he retires. He doesn’t get mentioned often just because he isn’t as flashy as De Bruyne, Hazard, Pogba. But he’s been so crucial to Man City and equally important as Xavi and Iniesta to Spanish football in general. Silva rarely ever has a bad game. His incredible consistency will make him one of the greatest ever imports to play the english game. He makes dictating and controlling the game in small spaces look so effortless. One of the best in the world atm and the best in his position imo. And he still gets overlooked for individual accolades

I think the fact that Silva has kept Man City's midfield elite since he's arrived says alot about his influence to the team. Toure was amazing for a few years and Fernandinho is a criminally underrated holding mid, but besides that City's midfield has been made up of the Rodwells, Garcias, Delphs, Fernandos, or ancient Lampards of the world, to take that lot and consistently have the end product that has been City's attacking fluidity over the years speaks loads to his ability.

Silva probably City's best ever, has been so consistent for the past 7+ years and every bit of our play goes through him, and now KDB as well. His passing, his vision and his ability to control the game are second to none. Won everything bar CL, including WC and Euros w/ Spain, and it is a blessing to watch him every week...

He is underrated because he plays for City. The old top 4 establishment has mainly ex players from United, Arsenal and Liverpool on TV as pundits and they are biased against City .
Silva is an all time great , a genius. He's far superior to Gerrard and Lampard because David Silva is a world champion and two time European champion with Spain . Gerrad and Lampard never got near winning a world cup
He was barely pivotal to Spain in those winnings.
Lamps slightly better in longevity, possibly Gerrard - he's been the main man for City's league titles so praise there.

How are the pundits biased against city that's bullshit. All anyone ever go on about is how great the current city team is now. Sure city have won 15 consecutive games I don't think any of the ex-player pundit are biased against them.
Suraj's Opinion is Better silva was pivotal in euro 2012.He had the highest goal involvement(2 goals +3 assists).If he played 90 minutes in all the matches he would've been player of the tournament.Silva is spains 5th highest capped player 2nd highest assister and 4th highest scorer with second highest goal involvement for spain(equal with raul) so silva is definitely the most underrated player of this generation.
I became City fan watching David Silva play against Man Utd in 6-1 game. Watched the game to see Ji Sung Park but was mesmerized by Silva's game. Most Koreans are Man Utd fan because of Ji Sung Park and I became fan of the opposite side because of David Silva. That's how good and beautiful his football is. Absolutely brilliant.

As a united fan he is majestic and consistent. He his Spanish not English that’s why he’s clearly overlooked.
I think he is right up there with Iniesta. Very similar players and Silva even has more goals to him. Iniesta is a quiet player, he gets on with things as well, BUT he is in a much lauded Barcelona side that has won so much. It's just incredible that these two players are so similar and yet only one of them has ever been up for the big awards.

People often forget to mention how good he is off the ball in applying pressure. He's also a very tough tackler and great defensive reader of the game. He is a midfield maestro and his touch, vision and passing range is absolutely superb. Also a humble attitude and a dressing room leader to top it off. King David

English media are only taking note cos he scored a few goals in Nov/December... and that's the problem with English football minds. Suraj's Opinion is Better fair point about hazard and Eriksen. But for the longevity in the premier league and his consistency I would have to go with Silva. And in current form as well. Hazard lacks the desire in my opinion and the consistency but he is world class.

Not at all. Hazard's led us to two titles. Would have reached higher heights but in context, Mancini, Pep, even Pellegrini, all suited a more attacking style than Chelsea's Mou/Hiddink/Conte.
Hazard still has a lot to give as well - Silva's last shot at a CL imo.

Simply one of the best players i've seen in 55 years of watching City, it was an absolute joy to watch David Silva, he kept the entire side moving, ticking over .. and he was the master of a slide rule, defence splitting pass.
He is underrated by people who don't see him every week. As a city fan who goes to games every week I could never under estimate his clever brilliant ability to play football
Is Fabregas better than Silva? I am a fan of both, but I would not think Fabregas is better. Many people took the stat of assists as the only criterion, but Phil captured the ultra importance of Silva to the City "he knits the play". Fabregas has more assists than Xavi, but you can never say he's better than Xavi. Fabregas' weakness, relatively, is his dribbling skill, not nearly good as Xavi, Iniesta, and Silva, which was the main reason he couldn't get a regular start at Barca.
You are absolutely right. But that's the point, he started but he's not as influential and dominant as Xavi in the midfield, which nullified the purpose to bring him back, to replace Xavi.

I can get behind this, fantastically underrated, imo City's most influential player for years (Not too bad for Spain either in 100+ caps). Of course De Bruyne is absolutely running away with that title the last two seasons.
This coming from a United/Portugal fan, so not his greatest supporter by any measure, but class deserves to be recognized.
That said, I'm not buying this theory that he's above Lampard, Gerrard, or Scholes for the best mid in prem history. Him and Cesc are just behind that lot though, and who knows, with how City is playing his CV can only improve.

Silva is not flashy but his elegant, his simple. You don't need to score goals like lamps or work like Kante to be great. Silva stamps his game on the opposition. He owns the pitch. That's his power.

City’s greatest ever player and he’s in the top 3 premier league players. If David Silva played for Barcelona people would of classed him as good as xavi and iniesta. This guy was so good, if your a city fan and watch them every week you will understand how good this guy was for us. City we’re a completely different team when he wasn’t playing. So intelligent, controlled the tempo of the game, always in the pockets. Always made the right decisions. I don’t think I ever saw him have a bad game. Would love to re live them ten years he had at city to watch him all over again!
In David Silva's early days at City if he didn't play the team would drop points simple as that. Usually a 0-0 draw under Mancini due to no attacking flair without Silva's influence.

I have been watching football for along time and I haven't seen him have a bad game. He has been consistently word class for years and years. As a fan from a rival club it always gave me huge pain whenever I saw this guy operating that midfield.

Atm kdb is better than silva.. he great at moves the ball forward(counter) but silva great at unlocking the defences. He always find that tight space to passed the ball.

One of the best midfielders in premier league history..in fact on of the very best players to grace the premier league. Has more talent on his left boot than scholes, Gerrard, Keane ever had. He just seems like a very quiet guy who gets on with his job. Such a skilful and graceful player with a wand of a left foot. Should win the poty this season. KDB, Silva, Salah, De Gea and Hazard are the 5 best players in the premier league this season

He could be underrated, but me and my friends has always rated him extremely high. Even a couple/few years ago we said that Silva was the guy that would 3rd last player on the ball on a goal. These things doesn't make it to stats, but he always starts the attack, and the way he makes it easier for his players.

I heard that giggs never won player of the month or year, but he was a great player, who never got a red card, I think silva is a giggs type of player, he will consistently every game give you 8/10, he won't some weeks be a 6 and some a 10, but he is consistent but no Gerrard/scoles spectacular moments.
He played under different manager styles and always held his place, you got to respect that.

Maybe English football analysis and fans are finally growing up - recognising Kante last season and Silva this season is a great sign for the English game. I'm all for it, David Silva's been my favourite ManC player for years.
Silva is underrated because he is arguably the best player in Man city's history. It's only coz of him Augeros, Dzekos and Ballotelis could be what they were!! What a magician. Although, I should admit KDB has not let the city fans miss him much last season and that's a feat by itself.
The way Silva plays this season reminds me of Iniesta while Pep was Barcelona's manager. Sometimes tracking back to CM, others going forward to CAM or even playing in the wings (mostly right). And they both were (Iniesta then and Silva now) irreplaceable

Silva is the most underrated football player in the whole world of football. Even when Football was premature(meaning the year Spain won the world cup, even there David Villa played more games than Silva). I have said in my many comments that football has evolved a lot, a lot more than we could have imagined especially after 2015. I as a Manchester United fan wanted David Silva when he played for Valencia along with Juan Mata. Back then football was so unpolished , the only people who can say anything about David Silva are the people who has played with him and the people who has played against him.
Thank God for Pep. Now because of him the English can stop chirping the old canard about their league being the most competitive blah blah in the world. I've always maintained that it was a bunch of averages and the huge gap created by Pep has confirmed this.
I don't think "a bunch of averages" and "the most competitive" are mutually exclusive. I used to be a big fan of la Liga when Pep was there but I tired of Real Madrid and Barcelona outscoring every other team by four, five, and six goals. I turned to the Premier League and was pleasantly surprised that you didn't always knew who was going to win.
I think the Champions League tells you who the best teams are so I agree with you about the level of the Premier League. I just think you can be exciting without being the best quality football.

But saying that the teams are all average is ridiculous. The bottom teams in the English league are much better in terms of quality than the bottom teams in the other leagues.

This generation's Scholes, minus long range shooting ability and better. His passing skills and off the ball positioning he's like scholes, carrick, kante in that regard. Always in the right place at the right time and seems to have so much time whenever he has the ball.

He's understated not under rated. Special footballer don't get over 110 caps for Spain team that won everything for nothing. We'll miss him massively when he's gone. It's been an honour to watch him play for my team. The only minor is he maybe hasn't scored enough.
