Stumbled upon this video and glad I did. I haven’t ever seen anything like this and it sure beats paying $$ to Dyson again for another battery when the one I recently bought decides to die!
Yes, a 5 or 6amp DeWALT battery will perform better than the original Dyson battery. Stay tuned. Battery run time coming soon.

Wow! Is there one for Rigid with circuit overdischarge protection?
Also, can you charge it from the charging point on the Dyson by using the Dyson charger?
No, the Dyson charger is not possible. I’m sure you can find adapters for other brands. See runtime detailed review from my other video link in the description.
What kind of screw driver is that, looks cool.
It's an electric precision screwdriver, watch my review here ua-cam.com/video/D7bIzg3umxY/v-deo.html

Hows it work so far? It is.not damage to the batteries?
Still works well
I must be doing something wrong. I purchased the same replacement adapter installed the DeWalt 20v battery and when I power the vacuum, it runs for a second and then immediatelly shuts off. So, I purchased a new adapter (thinking the adapter was the issue), exact same situation. Not too sure what is going on, but seems like everyone can get this to work, but me.
My DeWalt battery is a DCB 207 Type 1, 20V Max/Lithium ion, 1.3Ah 26Wh - is that not the correct type, and if not, what would one suggest?
I don’t have your 1.3 amp battery type. I used 2 amp 5amp at 6 AMp all worked fine.
@@ToolsElectroDIY WOW - quick reply, thats awesome! I gather my 1.3 might not be strong enought (my uneducated guess). Perhaps I should purchase what you mention 5-6 AMp. Awesom channel by the way - sub'd.
@@dave1534 thank you very much. I’m planning on doing a runtime test see how many minutes it can last on each battery
Mine goes for a second then dies immediately I’ve tried 20v max 2AH and 5AH maybe it’s cause mine is the v7 car and boat model?

found a lot adapter on sale on Amazon for V7 (sv11) & V8 (sv10), but I have a Dyson V8 (sv25) any idea where to buy an adapter to use DeWalt battery on the V8 (sv25). Many thanks
good to know!
I bought a similar adapter from Amazon. It would not work on max suction. Does this adapter work with your Dyson an the max suction setting? I noticed yin your video that your vacuum is using the low setting
Mine would run on max suction power setting. Not sure for how long. The runtime tests coming soon.
Because the battery voltage drops under cetrtain voltage quickly when used with high power. Quicker and lower than when used for low power. Then, the dyson brain cuts the power because it thinks his battery it's discharged.
Your tool's battery has 18v nominal (20v at max), but dyson's is 21,6v. I don't know what is the dyson's cut off voltage ,but when your tool's batt is 17v (even has enough juice left), dyson might think his original batt is discharged, so it cuts the power.
If your tool's batt is old, it might loose it's voltage quicker.

where did you get that screw driver ??
The screwdriver is Fanttik NEX E1 MAX amzn.to/3XywsMq (affiliate link) Watch the short review ua-cam.com/users/shortsqoERn2sqbY4?feature=share
I'm using a 18v power stack DeWalt battery with the correct adapter.
But it only lights up, in the battery indicator. No working vacuum 😔
Please advise
Are you using the same adapter in the video description?
Will the vacuum still hang in the charging cradle for storage (without the battery of course) ?
no
@@ToolsElectroDIY thank you!

Does the 5ah power stack work for you? Mine turns on for 5 seconds and shuts off.
Yes 2, 5, 6 amps all work for me.This is the one I'm using amzn.to/3CogwCE (affiliate link)
@@ToolsElectroDIY Do you know why my 5.0ah power stack pulses? I've tried two different batteries both 5.0 and the result was the same. If I full charge the battery, it runs for 5 seconds and shuts off. Is there too much power going in and the device is cutting off? Perhaps the adapter is a bad one? Also tried the 1.7ah power stack and that is working fine. I've read that another person had to drain the battery a little before it worked.

without the dewalt battery, can it be inserted back to the factory charging station? (just for the storage purpose)
No
It looks like the same shape, you would just have to take the charging plug part out cause it wouldn't seat all the way in
@@john_barnett i tried. It won’t fit
@@ToolsElectroDIY dang, thanks for clarifying though
@@john_barnett Dyson V8 runtime tests with DeWALT batteries ua-cam.com/video/1cNLhk1neWA/v-deo.html
V8 is 8 volt or is that the model or something casue mine says 25 volt 8 Amps or something pretty sure the conversion adapter is universal for all dysons but I don't wanna over Amp or volt it too much
The original battery is around 20V so it works.

How long does the V8 works with Dewalt battery?
Original Dyson battery last 40 minutes with full charge.
battery life tests coming soon.
@@ToolsElectroDIY Thanks & I will be waiting for these test.
Have a nice day.
When you ask something that stupid, think about the Ah, too 😜
It's like you are asking " how much water is inside of a bucket"..
Be smarter!

asking battery life a stupid question ???
May be I should have asked the brain capacity of yours. 😂😂😂
@@UygarOZ I guess you don't know that batteries are different in cappacity..? A dewalt battery can be from 1,3 to even 12Ah or more. Do you think all last the same? 😄
Tried this and it turns off after a min. Using a 4ah. Is that the issue?
Doesn’t sound right
Dyson V8 runtime tests with DeWALT batteries ua-cam.com/video/1cNLhk1neWA/v-deo.html
i can only find this in 20 v 6ah would that work for my dyson v8 thanks
Yes 6ah works
Dyson V8 runtime tests with DeWALT batteries ua-cam.com/video/1cNLhk1neWA/v-deo.html
does this work with other dyson vaccum?
No. V6 and V7 have their own adapters. See my runtime test link in description.
will this damage your dewalt battery?
No it won't it has a cut off voltage protection

GREAT HACK! 👏👏👏
Thanks, battery run time test video link in description
Man isn't this dangerous!? if the battery is draining too quick? Because i don't think it has chips build in for protecting the battery cells.
Not at all. The DeWALT power tools may require much more amperage than the Dyson. I believe the Dyson is rated at 350W max.

aMAZING.
yes. more detailed runtime test in the video description.
I installed mine today but it just turn on for like 30 seconds and dies after than and if I try again it turn on again for like 30 seconds. I changed batteries and they’re all fully charged!
Which one did you get? I’m going to do a run time test
I bought an adapter for the DeWalt 20v 5ah battery and everything was wonderful the first day. Ever since, I get a few seconds and that’s it. Even after switching out battery and charging.
@@stephaniecabral3220 fully charge the battery and try again, that happened to me at the beginning.
Dyson V8 runtime tests with DeWALT batteries ua-cam.com/video/1cNLhk1neWA/v-deo.html
Actually dyson batteries use 6 cells in series. Dewalts use 5. So voltage is lower. Motor will spin slower

Dewalt battery for Dyson v7
there's one too I'm sure.
For people with issues, it may be that they’re using knockoff batteries. Be careful when buying off Amazon and eBay.
Good point
Don’t waste your money. Turbo feature won’t work!!! Junk!!!
It works. You got a bad battery.
