I've been playing guitar for 50 years. Sometimes professionally. However, I never got my lazy self to completely learn PAMI. I'm learning it now, however. I just have to get better at it. My goal is to play Recuerdos de la Alhambra and whatever else I can learn. Bucket list stuff at this point. Repetition is the best teacher and Peter's teaching technique is excellent. Peter is a very good teacher.
I want to thank you for actually showing the VERY beginning steps and repeating them over and over as many teacher know so well that the teaching is way to fast for me . Thank you ,.
I like that you play each demo long enough to play along. Too many UA-cam tutorials do only a very brief demo, to say, See! That’s how it’s done. Then I have to stop and repeat the vid at that point over over to catch it, and then try myself. Much more effective, and efficient to play along (even though you don’t say “play along”. I’ve already got past this level, but thought to give you some helpful teaching feedback. What do you think of the flamenco tremolo (5 stroke)? I’ve been practicing this, and I like the fuller sound.
just started searching what exactly tremolo is and landed to so many channels that claimed tutorial which..wether just exhibitor showman nor worst than beginner and none! mention what tremolo is but here..turns out tremolo is repetitive plucking technique on single string..well the search is over for at least here & now before taking off to next destinations..thank!
Tremolo is probably the hardest classical guitar technique to master. On should listen to the likes of John Williams, or Julian Bream and of course Segovia to hear how it is supposed to sound. What is hard is to make all three notes melt into one continous legato flow of equal spacing, volume ant tone. And that's a tall order. But the result is worth the effort. Good luck. Keep up the good work.
Very good lesson. Good tempo. Looks easy but difficult enough for beginners ! Worked my way through it. Startling to notice how underdeveloped my right hand is but it is very eager to learn !
I realy like the program and I'll eventually get the program the only thing i don't have much time to practice and enjoy. I'll work on my schedule. I can see the power of repetition that make perfect. Thank you Peter
One thing my teacher mentioned was to make sure you have a nice steady rhythm. Its real easy for it to sound like a horse’s gallop (a slight pause between the 4th beat & the 1st). A bad habit to avoid.
I’ve always loved classical guitar ever since I heard Randy’s playing. I’m looking to expand my playing in all genres of music. I always finger pick and I want to start adding tremolo to my playing. Tremolo picking is easy with a guitar pick but harder without one so can’t wait to master this technique.
I've always enjoyed Peter's lessons as an electric and acoustic player, so it's great that he is teaching classical too - I've found such inspiration since I bought the nylon-string a few months ago. This lesson is just what I've been looking for. J
You have to play on the second String and make very small Movements with your Fingers so that you don,t touch other Strings, you have also take care that your Nails are very nice and smooth polish .
What about tremelo not on the high E string? I always find there is a lot of room for errors on the high E, and would like to know how to do it on say the B string.
very good step by step all long with us. the problem that I just bought the guitar and all of my nails get cut ahead ,,, I need to wait and waitting is boring :D thank you
First 2 Bars, i'm pretty close on your original speed..but hat picking pattern in bar 3 and 4...it seems impossible to play as quick and clean as you. Any Advice?(besides practicing slowly^^)... Im pretty sure i can get the last picking pattern too...but the second one..uuff... and thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for posting these exercises. Just one note on your wrist position, it's very bent or angled downward and could cause some tendonitis. Check out some videos by John Williams or others and the wrist is not so bent. I've also notice a lot of players using two fingers, like Ana Vidovic, with blazing speed. Anyway, everybody develops their own technique at their own speed, and I'm very slow compared to you and many others. I'll just keep practicing!
I don't play classical. I developed this weird fingerpicking technique and it sounds really good and apparently I know how to do tremolo but I do it differently. It's something I made up but apparently it's an actual thing
There seems to be a limit to the speed of my tremolo (or arpeggio). I feel like there is a limit to how fast I can consciously pick 3 or 4 notes, and that I need to somehow have one finger-stroke trigger the next without conscious thought. Does anyone else experience this, and if so, how have your overcome it?
Your camera didn't show how you had your arm rest on the body of your guitar. Because of this it was difficult for me to find a good position to rest my arm and get my wrist angeled correctly with the string. I originally had my wrist close to the bottom of the neck, but later I noticed your wrist was closer to the bridge. When I noticed this I tried re-adjusting my arm and had trouble keeping up with the tremolo practice. You also didnt explain how your guitar was on your lap. I didn't put my guitar between my legs until later in the video because I was playing on an acoustic, which was my only guitar on me when watching this. You should explain how you're positioned because being positioned incorrectly leads to bad practice and unhealthy habits. I like everything else in the video, but these things that weren't included made my whole arm and wrist sore since thay weren't placed comfortably on my guitar from the start of the video.
We need to know the other half of tremolo, finger nails it makes success or failure. It’s a subject that demands an entire video. Everyone’s finger nails and fingers are different.
Tremolo should never be practiced on the first string as it will develop a kind of gallop sound (as it has no other string in front of it to keep the minimal distance required to return) would have been nice to talk about nail care as obviously they are needed as well
Murray Sargeant ;~) i disagree with your first point. Nail maintenance is a nightmare if you happen to be born with crappy nails, and strresful if you have an exam looming! [Luckily got past those exam days a long time ago, I remember wearing a glove and trying to do as much as possible with my left hand, plus all the nail-potions and false nails etcetera ]
Actually I was searching for a video explaining me how I can play finger tremolo while my thumb plays independent some melody over it - my brain just fucks it up every time I try

Dave Meacham 50 years and you still can not play al hambra?
I started playing 6 months ago, my goal was to play la Alhambra, thankfully I didn't have a hard time learning the tremolo technique
Bullshit
@@abslenchar2347 how much time you gave per day???
@@PuneetGautam around 2-3h per day, I was able to play the tremolo flawlessly after 4 month
I looked at so many videos for this, this one felt like a lesson as opposed to just showing the technique. Thank you
it feels like a lot of the other people are trying to show off their skills more than trying to teach.

Ok, I practiced for three minutes so I'm basically like Segovia and ready for a concerto
I won't like this since it's at 69, sorry

Lo más importante es mantener la mano fuera de tensiones, totalmente relajada.
The Guitar is a sweet little symphony orchestra all in it's self.
If i nail it down, i'll subscribe for sure

Michel Van de Lindt I have a question. If I grow my nails will it sound different when I’m playing electric guitar.
I play classic, but ive found that it adds some "sharpness" to the sound when i use my nails.
@@senorpollo6244 yes, also much easier to bust up your nails on electric
Great 👍👍👍💐

Why not? You need to play both of them anyways.

when doing base notes with the p/thumb...try not to let your thumb fall down and touch and rest on your a/index finger
Hi, i tried to play romance with tremolo technique, but why the tremolo sound unbalanced? Feels like 1 bass is separated one another coz of tremolo.
could you please show the (LEFT HAND POSITION) when you are playing the Tremolo. Thank You for sharing your talent.

my nails seem to stick under the string , they are not long
How do u even do that lol
