Great reaction - and yes it is always the Kami Band (either East or West) at a BABYMETAL concert. They never wore fox masks:
2012 to October 2017 - white robes and corpse face paint.
Dec 2017 through 2018 - black robes and corpse face paint
2019 to date - black robes and silver masks (the masks have been upgraded from 2023 on).
The main contrast in Su's vocals was always studio v live (with studio recordings over-processing and compressing her vocals, live performances so much better and more powerful).
Obviously her voice has also matured in the last 14 years between when she was 12 and now at 26, but she was always powerful, very stable and on key.
This song is from the 2023 album 'The Other One' and most of the songs on that album do seem to really exhibit and show off her vocal prowess possibly more than most of the songs (there are many obvious exceptions) on previous albums.
Su's voice in at least all the official live videos I've seen recently is also edited. You can hear it in this one too. It's not fixed all that much though if you listen to a fan cam or similar she's mostly spot on.
@@opliko There is always some post production for the BluRays, official live videos etc, but that is just tidying things up and is relatively minimal, they are not altering anything like they do with the over-processing they do in the studio recordings.

The KAMI BAND has never worn Fox mask All the masks they have worn have looked somewhat alien-like in some way with the added stringy looking back here

I'm confused because your first reaction to BABYMETAL was to "PA PA YA!!" (official music video) which is from 2019.
Su-metal sounded younger back in the day because she was really young. She was only 12 years old when BABYMETAL was formed.
But not in 2019... unless you mean that it was the studio recording on "PA PA YA!!" and she sounds way better live (like here).

This song belongs to latest album The Other One but it wasn't part of the 5 singles released, although it becomes one of fans favorite from this album real fast.
The nasty riffs reminds to "Ice Nine Kills - Rainy Day".
Maya in Hindu myth is the representation of illusion (which is the theme in this song), so that's the reference.

The Western Kami Band playing this live at PIA Arena MM (April 1st) gives some aggressive flavor that i really like and with MomoMetal now officially as a new member, just so you know this was performed during Black Night (that's why they're wearing the old battle dress from Metal Galaxy era and she ain't got a mic), at the end of this night she was announced as MomoMetal, the night after this (Clear Night) they're wearing the next iridiscent costume you can see at Mirror Mirror, METALIZM official MV and so on, during the Europe Tour in June they wear a new battle dress.
They've been rotating this song along with Mirror Mirror and Believing during The World Tour 2023/2024.
They already finished the Asian Tour and in October they will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, as well Peru with a headlining show, they will come back to the US for another tour and also Mexico will be part of that tour but this time as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for it.

Not to argue that there hasn't been maturity and growth but I think you will find some disagreement on your assessment. There were complex songs and songs that showcased Su's voice on every album. You just haven't listened to them. No doubt The Other One is a more serious album and showcases Su's voice more than any other album in its entirety. She has been trained by professionals since she was 8 and did about 100 shows last year and I don't know how many this year but Asia, Europe, North America and South America all this year. So she get's a little practice 😁
When you mentioned South America (finally!) I got intrigued... and looked it up. In the process I noticed also in the lineup (Knotfest) will be The Hu. Now that would be a collaboration worthy of the Fox God. Oh well, a man can dream.
