@@davidl3864 uneducated, ignorant comments like this are the exact point of my comment. You have NO IDEA what traumas people have been through, especially within a family unit, the only home a child has. You also clearly have no idea of the affects this has on the mental health and the experiences other people deal with. People don’t want to be in a cycle of suffering. They are losers with no jobs, giving nothing to society and a burden. What have you been smoking. Take the cameras away and they will be pulling crimes.
As do I. The lesson here is that if you want respect from society, you need to become an unrepentant violent criminal, do your time in prison and then build up your social profile and following by telling stories about how you terrorised innocent people. Un-ironically I have more respect for Spanian than I do towards those who arrested him.

Were you there when the old Walting Matilda pub and the underpass near Dandy station were there. That place was BAAAD then, the underpass used to have so many bashings, robberies and rapes. They had to clean that place up.
South Melbourne and Port Melbourne, in particular Garden City had mad crews in those days too. The Oakleigh W@&$ too. Times have changed. Everyone respected 3174 & 3175 in those days though.
It's like that in most former places like Dandenong. Nothing comes close to the 1980's & 90's, everywhere it was pumping. Plenty work of all sorts, earning was easier, lots of cash everywhere as everything was cash based, les coppers, less technology, no camera's & CCTV everywhere, less alarms & security, less restrictive laws, people punched on instead of stab or shoot, there was still a criminal code of ethics that every crim learnt first & then lived by. Crews stuck solid & could trust each other, & had each other's back without saying. There was no crack or bupe back then , that makes shells of former good men like today. It was a different time & completely different men back then. Now the ice & bupe epidemic & it's mental health partner have pervaded all aspects of community, society, humanity & life. Now it seems that everywhere you look we are dealing with & nursing some spinner in psychosis or a crackhead who think's he's God or some devil, a good earn today is sneako - ing an old lady & snatching her handbag or Peter thieving from your best mate, or back door him😳. Or bashing your missus or mother, these crimes are sweet today, & even a putrid teller or scotcher is ok if he's whacking up!!. Still in the 70's, 80's & 90's that sort of shit did not fly , the shit men were found out quickly & the rest left were all good solid men, most of the time!. A gangster was a gentleman, not a crack head or hard talking face tattooed 40 kg skeleton who walks with a bigger bridge than Sydney Harbour bridge & tells the whole world how he has killed a hundred people & bashed everyone from Mike Tyson to every champion in every field , he has got them all😂. That's today, compared to the 80's & 90's, different world & different people!!. Them two decades were definitely the last of the Mohicans, shout out to all the boys who run in the 80's & 90's👍❤️.

Wow, great video, Spanian; as a child of Dandy North in the ''80s/'90s, I was happy to revisit your video, but at the same time, sad as this is now worse than it used to be. However blessed to come from an area that gave me the smarts and a "peoples" person based on the characters, ethnic groups i was exposed and friends with.
Not even close brother. Spanian is lucky it is 2024 and he was walking with a large group. You couldn't walk the streets of Dandenong along between the years 2000-2010. Especially at the station.
Lol, I grew up in Dandenong. Thanks Spanian, I'm looking forward to seeing it through your eyes ❤️ Wow, my Nan lived in Menzies ave, I grew up right on the creek in Dandenong. The Myuna farm was across the creek from me, and where I kept my first horse 😍 When we were kids, our friend found the evidence that put Mr baldy away. A briefcase on the side of the road. So many memories walking down those roads, I'm blown away! So different, but still the same. Shout out to all the Dandy kids of the 70's and 80's. Love from beautiful Tasmania ❤️❤️
Doveton was so different back in the 70's and 80's. Changing so much now, the old houses are being knocked down. Looking better bit by bit but erasing the memories of old neighbours that used to live there. I found out a few years back where Mr Baldy lived, Ti Tree Drive in Doveton, I used to walk past his house in the 70's, dam I shudder to think how close I possibly came to being a victim of his.......
@@Foxhound1Nine Dandenong commission area was ok back in the 70's, Nan had no issues in Menzies Ave except the "language" (Nan didn't swear at all) Doveton was a little more hectic, and yes, some creeps were about. I'm also grateful I had no run ins, but this creep was stealing children. As children, my five siblings and I were isolated and mostly ignorant of the real world, our parents sheltered us from social interaction 🤔 we were actually frightened of most people tbh. All of those times are long gone, good and bad. It's great to gtfo of Victoria 💙
Been working in dandy, coming up to 10 years now, in DCJS. Know all the areas you're in well. Glad the lads took you down potter street and out the back of robinson st. I could work my whole career in those streets and never make a dent. Was working the day you were down too, spewing i didnt see you. Love the content
Broady isn't even bad lol I've been here since like 2017 and its nothing compared to Dandy, I grew up in Carlton and even that is worse in the commission housing areas. Maybe I am missing something though is there a party of Broady that is particularly ratty? I am normally around the shopping centre area and on the eastern side and I've never seen anything sus.
I live In Dandenong and want to make it clear this is a very small minority of Dandenong. As all suburbs there is a “good” side and a “bad” side and the “good” side takes over the “bad” side, it is cleaned up massively. But I’ve only been here a couple of years.
Yeah I worked in Dandenong for 10 year and took the train everyday. It's not the best suburb but really it's not as bad as people make it out to be. If you want to stay out of trouble, it's not hard to do.
As someone that lives in Doveton, honestly the junkies/eshays and other ghetto people usually won’t bother u. So really u should just ignore them. But the ones that do r usually the ones that think they’re gangsters
Dandy in the 70's up near the train station wasn't a nice place to be. Walting Matilda pub was a nasty place and the underpass to get to the platforms were the real bronx, bashings, robberies, rapes, etc. As the old houses get knocked down and replaced it's starting to look a lot more better.
This was a really good episode, ay👏 really showed the community and the spirit within it. From the people who live there to the town and people within the community making a difference. Top work as always 👏 👌 👍
Love how ya give everyone in a hot ride or on a bike a fair go, I actually really like having some segments where it’s just mad cuz doin burnouts 😆 keep up the excellent content bro!
The south east has some of the most affluent suburbs in Melbourne. ETA: sorry about Myki. It’s the pits. ETA 2: just finished watching. That was fascinating. Thanks to the guys who were so informative bout the history of the area. It’s a shame manufacturing died out. You mentioned Sunshine and Broadmeadows. They would be interesting places for you to visit, too, imho. Wishing you all the best.
Awesome group of lads !!! I like that about the lower income suburbs where the community of people are more real , comradery with neighbours and the community polices its self.
Love the aussie bro in the red shirt/black hat, full admitting he's an ice addict. A lot of folks would deny it and hide their habits but not this guy. Even calling himself dandys biggest junkie. Hes a real G for admitting his truths and acknowledging his addiction. Hope you get clean one day bro i hope next time I see you you're doing a lot better 🙏
Me too. I respect that he told it like it is. And I thought it was really sad that he's walking alongside the guy in th eyellow jumper who was saying he fully hates addicts, kick them in the head when the OD. Then gets into a lamborghni which was probably not purchased with the proceeds of honest employment. .
I grew up in Dandenong and the street we lived in was known for Drugs…so many drug houses and cops in the street constantly, but our street had some of the nicest people too, community just trying to keep everyone safe and even try to help some of the addicts get clean and try to do better, no judgement. I’ll always have fond memories of Dandy. Being so multicultural, kind and funny people , shout out Dandy Primary School and Dandy High, the market, the weirdos and the bums outside the plaza, the hidden food spots, etc etc Dandy has character (bad and good), Dandenong represent 😆🙌🏾
Jimmy's kebabs with the 16 buck massive HSPs haha But yeah my nan lives on Menzies. Has for 60 years. Commission too. Her house is in the video but I won't say which. I also currently live in one of the bording houses in this video too. Not the one shown but the same owner and I have friends at that one. But ya dead right. Bunch of people legit banding together through rough times. Most of the people not on Ice are solid. And nearly all of the weed smokers are chill. Even that guy who asked for a light. He's a character. He was born in the south of America during Segregation. Like Lousisiana/New Orleans He is disabled and lives at an assisted living place on the street they walked down. He actually smokes weed like a MFer and everytime he sees me asks if I got some. I occasionally roll a joint and chill with him. He's a super nice guy. His name is Flowers lol He's seen a whole other world to us man. He talk about Dandenong like its paradise compared to where he come from.
Yes I grew up in Dandenong until the age of 19 and then I moved to Murrumbeena but I have fun memories like all the the 80s pretty safe lower middle class no dramas I knew that Dustin's always had a bad reputation but you know generally it's pretty good I felt always safe

That’s was a sick episode I have family in Melbourne and they even told me the things they have seen in the early to 2000s was insane good to see things are slowly turning for the better. Big ups to the young boxer he’s going places 🤙🏾
Like I said I have family that live there been there ever since 2000 now I’m not saying it’s gotten to the point where there isn’t any crime I’m just going off what I’ve been told by family in the area they live
Love watching all your videos, informative but also very interesting & I love the repect you have for the people you see around, just a genuine hand shake of together not against

I was born and raised in Dandy first half of my life. I also did a short stint in dandy, not as long others, like 6-12 months or something so didn't get the full,,,, ummm,, experience and guess im still kinda an outsider, but at the time i was probably about, 11 or 12 or something and it was long enough for me.

Don't come to Melbourne. It's a shithole unless you venture out tp the city. But in saying that, there's more drug effected people in the city now so either way, Melbourne is a dive
You really don’t need to avoid it like that. Maybe not walk around at night. The point of travel is truly missed only staying in the safe tour-guide recommended areas.
I've been to so called dodgy places, I guess I fit in as I grew up in a government house haha. But yea as long as you're minding your own business people don't care.
First time ever on this channel, am so lost bc I’ve never seen this type of scene before, but am so completely fascinated by what’s going around. Thanks for giving Dande some attention bro. Grew up there in the 90s. You should have gone to the Plaza, earlier known as the Capital Centre. Anyone remember Pacific!?
I grew up in Dandenong. I never saw it as a bad neighbourhood nor did it feel like that. There was always gangs and stuff but if you stay out of it you’d be okay most the times. It’s kinda safe and good place to live in. Great video and perspective for those who don’t live here but again, it’s not as bad as Sydney for example it’s a good place with good people. Thanks for the entertaining content bro!
I grew up in Dandy North as well. I am the same, I have never seen Dandy as a bad neighborhood. It's all about just minding your own business and never got hassled. My mum lives in Dandy North still but I never have a problem with Dandy
Same as Frankston. You gotta know when you're better off not being mouthy and when it's sometimes better to stay outta sight, but generally speaking you've gotta be pretty unlucky to really get into trouble. Still though, I just assumed everyone had been in organised fights (get the trolley poles out) and was a bit surprised when I made friends from the North and learned that some people just dodged all of that growing up.
Sounds similar to Canadian cities. Sure, some neighborhoods are notorious for being underdeveloped, areas with affordable housing, or aging homes tend to be a little rougher due to the demographic that stays there. (Eventually cleaning up when prices get to the point where developing is super affordable, which attracts more money) There's a good universal rule to remember... Keep it moving if you don't belong there, get to where your going, an keep your head on a swivel. Mind your business and you'll be fine. You can't be a victim of any sort of violence if no one is around or gets the chance to get close to you.

You have NO IDEA what traumas people have been through, especially within a family unit, the only home a child has. You also clearly have no idea of the affects this has on the mental health and the experiences other people deal with. People don’t want to be in a cycle of suffering. 100%

Still though, I just assumed everyone had been in organised fights (get the trolley poles out) and was a bit surprised when I made friends from the North and learned that some people just dodged all of that growing up.
Straight out never seen gangs hanging on the street not even at Menzies. It ain’t like that
@@pritcheey958 yall realize this is the same in every single country in the world right 😂now
Sounds similar to Canadian cities. Sure, some neighborhoods are notorious for being underdeveloped, areas with affordable housing, or aging homes tend to be a little rougher due to the demographic that stays there.
(Eventually cleaning up when prices get to the point where developing is super affordable, which attracts more money)
There's a good universal rule to remember... Keep it moving if you don't belong there, get to where your going, an keep your head on a swivel. Mind your business and you'll be fine.
You can't be a victim of any sort of violence if no one is around or gets the chance to get close to you.
