Use to travel to the Fun Factory from Dandy back in the day, all the shenanigans were there on the Friday, Saturday nights. Mad times! BURN CITY SOUFF EAST
For anyone interested in one of the lesser known historic crime syndicates that used to run these areas I would say start with the 'Painters and Dockers,' (Not the band) Basically gangsters that came out of the ship yard trade unions and ran tax + crime in parts of the city from the 50's - 80's. Naturally the working class unionist from all different fraternities and industries were notorious for huge violent brawls in pubs all across South, North and Port Melbourne to Collingwood, Fitzroy well before that.. So yeah South and Port Melbourne are affluent now, but its working class roots go way back to the shipping yards.
@@lucaorlando97 Did any of you live in south Melbourne in the 1980s . It was a dump and the market was better cheaper and no glorified market I don't even call it a market anymore it's a shit area now
Another great video Spanian, there's nice Greek Orthodox church in South Melbourne where my wife and I got married. Right next door to the commission flats for more extra authenticity! Chapel St is a very busy and active place, always something going on Lots of respect Spanian👍
I used to do the plumbing maintenance in South/Port Melbourne, St Kilda, Prahan. South/Port Melbourne were easily the best housing area to do maintenance in. St Kilda and Prahan were a bit more sketchy, but still ok. A lot of good people in housing there. Never had any safety issues. Respect the tenants, and they respect you back.
@@step9624 Most of South Melbourne is very affluent. Like many places in Melbourne there are some public housing blocks integrated among the regular housing. It is by design.
South Melbourne’s such an odd place. Multimillion dollar houses, an amazing market and neighbourhood with pubs, shops and historic buildings. Meanwhile the towers nearby are just the pits.

I wasn't on drugs, I was a young 18yr old in and out the system in my earlier teens and Gatwick was a home for a period of time trying to figure out my life!
I found it funny how the girl said back packers used to live at the Gatwick. Back in the 80's my mate lived there with his dad and even the backpackers wouldn't live there. Most weekends an ambulance would be out the front for the overdosed junkies.
The Prahran skate bowl in the early 90s brings back memories going there as a young teenager. Was awesome watching the older blokes rip it up
Whatta throw back this was to watch!
And mad respect to Jase for the shout out to Sinch; my little cousins dad. RIP. 🙏🏻
Love these episodes.
Killer episode. Into the the hood REDEEMED
WOW! Little Jase wearing that Jollibee Tshirt and 3 stars and Sun tattoo makes me proud. Mabuhay! Nice episode Spanian
Use to travel to the Fun Factory from Dandy back in the day, all the shenanigans were there on the Friday, Saturday nights. Mad times!
BURN CITY SOUFF EAST
For anyone interested in one of the lesser known historic crime syndicates that used to run these areas I would say start with the 'Painters and Dockers,' (Not the band)
Basically gangsters that came out of the ship yard trade unions and ran tax + crime in parts of the city from the 50's - 80's.
Great video, really well done, plenty of respect to the OG’s and serious discussion of the changing environment, thanks for posting.
Glad to see this wasn't a gronk meetup like the last couple were mate, back to a great series once again 👍
South Melbourne ain’t really a hood but this should still be a banger
Standing outside south Melbourne market where a loaf of bread is $13 acting like it’s the trap 😂
@@lucaorlando97 Did any of you live in south Melbourne in the 1980s . It was a dump and the market was better cheaper and no glorified market I don't even call it a market anymore it's a shit area now
Learn your history lad
He need to go to Noble Park, Frankston, Hampton Park, Carrum, Moe, Drouin, Sunshine, Hoppers Crossing, Craigieburn, Bonbeach, Chelsea, Springvale
@@lucaorlando97you must be young
Another great video Spanian, there's nice Greek Orthodox church in South Melbourne where my wife and I got married. Right next door to the commission flats for more extra authenticity!
Chapel St is a very busy and active place, always something going on
Lots of respect Spanian👍
One of the best episodes, the other ones felt like everyone showing off! Little jase is a great speaker
We back to the typical Spanian videos with no kids doing nonsense for the camera .
Thank you for an insightful documentary mate, keep this up!
People in real ghettos around the world would love to live in these paradises
For real. South Melbourne is one of the nicest suburbs in Melbourne, calling it the 'hood' is retarded.
No shit Sherlock...do you want an award for the most obvious comment 😂😂😂
It's the people who turn it into a ghetto.
Clearly far from paradise though isn’t it?
@@step9624 Most of South Melbourne is very affluent. Like many places in Melbourne there are some public housing blocks integrated among the regular housing. It is by design.
Love the Dude with the Doggie.....He must love his pooch and that's Awesome ❤😂
South Melbourne’s such an odd place. Multimillion dollar houses, an amazing market and neighbourhood with pubs, shops and historic buildings. Meanwhile the towers nearby are just the pits.
Great episode! Maybe one of the best Aussie hood tours.
Imagine how ground breaking it would be if Spanian somehow located the iconic Melbourne legend himself Jisoe and walked around the hood with Jisoe talking about past times and graffiti or even just sitting down for an interview with him! I know a lot of people would be lovingggg that come n let’s get it happening please 🙏
Jisoe hood is st albans im pretty sure
yessss.
Iconic? Sure, legend? No, Its an open secret that jisoe is a rockspider and isnt in good standing with the melbourne graffiti scene. It would be extremely poor taste to do an interview with him.
He’s mentally not been in a good way for a while sadly.
Sounds like that bloke is a fucking deadbeat gronk...
This is good I was starting to get a fkn headache from 15 minutes of boring burnouts in every video
Mad vid. Can’t believe I missed rubbing into ya in Prahran. All about the inner city vids. Of course they show more grit and the dudes have better yarns but that’s the difference of inner city and just full outer suburbs of housos. All needs to be shown. This is the true Australia, love that you acknowledge that you keeping records of it cos you are.
You need to do footscray sunshine in Melbourne mate. That was the scariest area in the 90s 2000s.
