basically, RNG gives one number for how likely the big dude is to hit any of the characters - this number is then compared to each character's evasion
if the character's evasion is higher than this one number, then the character dodges
if the character's evasion is lower than this one number, the character gets hit
thus, if the lowest dodge character has high evasion and dodges it, everyone else with higher evasion will also dodge
if the highest dodge character gets hit, then everyone else with lower evasion gets hit (because their evasion is also lower than the hit roll)
if, for example, the lowest dodge is 50 and highest dodge is 70, then only hit rolls between 50 and 70 will cause some to be hit and some not to be hit
lower than 50 => all miss
higher than 70 => all hit
if it is between 0 to 100, then that means there's an 80% chance of "all something" and only a 20% chance of some taking some not

To put it short: It rolls a single number for a chance to hit then checks each character's dodge to see if they do dodge it.
It doesn't only check against one character for the entire party and it also doesn't do a new accuracy check per character.
