Yeah she looked so scared. Even now she’s still pretty grumpy but I had her eating treats from my hand. Hopefully she won’t need to stay in the crate too long but if I let her out early she’ll just find a spot to hide.
With the crate you keep Sushi in, I think it's important that you set it in a corner or something, so that the other cats can't go around all of it. As it is now, she might feel extra stressed because there's nowhere in the crate where the other cats can't reach her. Maybe also try to put some sort of shelf in it so she can get off the floor. It might also be good to put her food and water up on it, since cats really don't like to have their food right next to where they go to the toilet. If you can, temporarily using a harness and leash to take her around the farm to start with so she learns to know where she lives, can also be useful.
Thanks again Chad for giving Sushi a wonderful life there on the farm. It is so amazing to see her on the videos. It was sad to let her go, but we would have felt way worse if we brought her to the shelter. We can see how much you care for your animals and that makes us feel so peaceful to know she is there.

When I was young, we had a cat that, for some reason, my parents decided we couldn't keep. Us kids were never told why. So we drove her about a half-hour away and released her near a farm. My father told us that she would join the barn cats living there and would be fine. Months later, my younger sister got up one morning and ran to our back door saying that she had heard Ginger. And lo and behold, she was at the door. Hale and healthy. She had found her way home. I don't know that Sushi would or could do the same, but I think that you're wise to give her time to become a member of the Claw Crew before letting her out. Otherwise, she may or may not stay around. It shows that you're a good steward of your animals.
Animals are so cool that way, there are hundreds of similar stories of cats and dogs doing the impossible. She won’t be released on the farm until spring anyway so that’ll be more than enough time.

When you said you had a new cat I thought "oh good, he's got a cat to stay in with Bubbles and keep her company". I would uncover the cage while it's just Bubbles there and see if they warm up to each other and gradually let her out.
Right now it’s warmer in Canada than here in Missouri! It was 4 degrees F (-16 C) last night but warming up quick already up to 22 F (-6 C)! Yes I’ve really never seen them fighting, maybe cause they go out on the farm and when they’re inside have a good amount of space. They actually cuddle too. I hope Sushi doesn’t have to stay separated too long.
Most house cats are like that because there owners don’t take care of them properly. Every cat needs to be played with every day for atleast 30 minutes. The barn cats naturally play because there outside all the time!

Can’t believe how warm it is there and not much snow. In northern Indiana it’s 14F and not much snow. It’s been cold since Xmas and it’s going to stay this cold for most of the month. Usually we have a warm up in January but not this year. Poor Sushi she is scared. Sounds like you’re doing everything right. I hope she fits in good. Because she is neutered the other cats might except her better. But it all depends on Fozzy. He is the boss. lol (Fozzy is my favorite but I do love all your cats.)
Yes so far Fozzy has been fine, Tango is hissing the most. Our cats have mostly calmed down now, more curious than anything. It’s Sushi that’s hissing and growling. The quicker we can her out of the crate the better, but we’re trying to do it step by step.
Butter her paws. Cats can smell home in their paws. If each paw is dipped in butter, they luck it off with the scent. When finished licking off the paw, they put it down clean on the ground of new home. 90%+ sure they dont run away. They can't smell their old home anymore. 😊❤
Red seems to be walking a bit weird. Those geese can hardly wait for the summer pond. love those geese. In the wild how many male turkeys are in the flock....only one? maybe. I could never get two cats introduced . never. just unlucky. They prefer to be alone. darn it. By the way, that is one nice scratch rug you have for them. Very decorative.
Red has been a bit wonky for a couple of years now, it’s like he has a balance issue. Not sure about wild flocks but I’d guess there would be a lead turkey and then as the kids grow up they’ll try to challenge him and it’s only nature to figure out the hierarchy. But on a farm like ours it’s preventable by having only one Tom.

Once again, i say you're amazing. You are doing it right with Sushi . Kirkland cat food is what we frrd our cats. When my daughter was in college for Vet Tech, they said that Costco cat food was in the top 5 foods that us good for cats...and i believe its cheaper than Whiskis that your feeding them now. Funny thing about Whiskis, our veet in Germany had told us that food was like giving chocolate to a kid. Thank you for the care you take with all your animals. Keep on keeping on
I know there are people who disagree, but I miss the upbeat music during montages. I think it's fine to be quiet when something is happening, but the stretches of silence are a bit awkward. I absolutely LOVE this channel either way, of course. Keep doing what you do, Chad!
I'm surprised on how little snow you have. I'm only an hour north and have 3 feet at least. Sushi will get use to the smell of the other cats in time. Letting her into the larger area when all the other cats are out will hell her acclimate to her new surroundings.

I help coordinate a barn cat program here in Michigan (friendlies, ferals & tame). Our cats are surrenders or we trap over run colonies- spay/neuter /vaccinate and left ear tip, then either return them, or adopt them out. We require a "soft" release. Meaning they are kept in a huge cage for a week or two, with litter box,food and blanket. Cats are acclimated slowly to the new environment. It gives them time to process new sights,sounds,and smells. Also,other cats wont perceive the new kitty as a threat.
Glad to know I’m doing it right then. I had initially planned to keep her in the crate for a few weeks but depending on how she’s behaving I’ll judge better. She was eating treats from my hand yesterday.
I just filmed an update episode but yo give you a sneak peak…out of 15 eggs I collected, 8 were fertile and have a few more days in the incubator so hopefully we’ll get a roo or two as Freddy Jr.

@@user-hq6ds6ty8g excellent. A few solar panels on a cat barn may work fine. If you get snow you’ll need to clean the snow off, for I’d up here I’m not interested in solar panels but it’s cause our place is already setup for power. It’s also much cheaper to trench and run electrical than installing solar and you’ll have power indefinitely whereas solar panels don’t last forever. There are solar farms here close by and they are covered in snow so they wouldn’t be creating power right now.
When all the cats are outside for the day, you can always let her explore the area a little bit more than her stretcher paws as well .can tell she is absolutely terrified!!!! I feel so bad for them in situations like this cause they have no way of knowing what or why things are happening to them are they gonna be OK and they have no control if you can try and spend a few minutes with her each day as much as possible, slow blinking reassure them that you’re not gonna hurt them. When you look at them you do a slow blink that’s what they do for one another when they’re comfortable and it shows them that you’re not gonna hurt them and that your friend You’re a wonderful man for taking sushi in and I hope people don’t see this and take advantage of that !!!! ❤❤❤
Have you ever been to Hemingway's house child's? In Key West Florida? Supposedly heat a laughe left his fortune to the cat population there.. At one time there was ninety nine cats. The state runs the facility
One good thing about Sushi coming to the farm, her previous owners will still be able to see her and watch her live her best life out there on the farm! I wonder how long it will take for her to come to understand that this is now her home… I know I wouldn't let her outside for a while… she doesn’t need to stay In That cage for several weeks… maybe a week… if that… she can come out of there and be left to go in and out of the main cat house and the catio until she gets used to it… and the cats… but you know what you are doing :) so I will just shut my mouth and let you do what you do best! :)
Sushi should not be let out for 6 months or so. Since she was a free range cat in her previous life. She will leave. She needs to make friends with your other cats first. She feels she has been dumped.

Fozzy was lost in our forest for 3 days cause I let him out to roam, because he didn’t know me he wouldn’t come back and I thought I lost him. I ended up trapping him to get him back and licked him in our barn for a month.

Once again, i say you're amazing. You are doing it right with Sushi . Kirkland cat food is what we frrd our cats. When my daughter was in college for Vet Tech, they said that Costco cat food was in the top 5 foods that us good for cats...and i believe its cheaper than Whiskis that your feeding them now. Funny thing about Whiskis, our veet in Germany had told us that food was like giving chocolate to a kid.

I know there are people who disagree, but I miss the upbeat music during montages. I think it's fine to be quiet when something is happening, but the stretches of silence are a bit awkward. I absolutely LOVE this channel either way, of course. Keep doing what you do, Chad!
I'm surprised on how little snow you have. I'm only an hour north and have 3 feet at least. Sushi will get use to the smell of the other cats in time. Letting her into the larger area when all the other cats are out will hell her acclimate to her new surroundings.
This episode was filmed on New Year’s Eve, a few days later we got slammed…probably the same 4 days of storms as you.

I help coordinate a barn cat program here in Michigan (friendlies, ferals & tame).
Our cats are surrenders or we trap over run colonies- spay/neuter /vaccinate and left ear tip, then either return them, or adopt them out.
We require a "soft" release. Meaning they are kept in a huge cage for a week or two, with litter box,food and blanket. Cats are acclimated slowly to the new environment. It gives them time to process new sights,sounds,and smells. Also,other cats wont perceive the new kitty as a threat.
Glad to know I’m doing it right then. I had initially planned to keep her in the crate for a few weeks but depending on how she’s behaving I’ll judge better. She was eating treats from my hand yesterday.

I just filmed an update episode but yo give you a sneak peak…out of 15 eggs I collected, 8 were fertile and have a few more days in the incubator so hopefully we’ll get a roo or two as Freddy Jr.

I definitely want to integrate our 7 cats into the type of cat setup you have. Here on our Kentucky USA property we don't have electricity in the back. What are your thoughts about solar power?
@@user-hq6ds6ty8g excellent. A few solar panels on a cat barn may work fine. If you get snow you’ll need to clean the snow off, for I’d up here I’m not interested in solar panels but it’s cause our place is already setup for power. It’s also much cheaper to trench and run electrical than installing solar and you’ll have power indefinitely whereas solar panels don’t last forever. There are solar farms here close by and they are covered in snow so they wouldn’t be creating power right now.

When all the cats are outside for the day, you can always let her explore the area a little bit more than her stretcher paws as well .can tell she is absolutely terrified!!!! I feel so bad for them in situations like this cause they have no way of knowing what or why things are happening to them are they gonna be OK and they have no control if you can try and spend a few minutes with her each day as much as possible, slow blinking reassure them that you’re not gonna hurt them. When you look at them you do a slow blink that’s what they do for one another when they’re comfortable and it shows them that you’re not gonna hurt them and that your friend

Yup, it was 6c for a few days and most of it melted. A few days after we got blasted with snow so it’s back now and very cold.
Lolol fozzy is getting big! He needs that extra fat for the winter there. Im jn B.C vancouver, and its bin warm so far just hitting -2 at night.
Yes, actually all the cats gain weight for winter and also grow a thicker coat.
One good thing about Sushi coming to the farm, her previous owners will still be able to see her and watch her live her best life out there on the farm! I wonder how long it will take for her to come to understand that this is now her home… I know I wouldn't let her outside for a while… she doesn’t need to stay In That cage for several weeks… maybe a week… if that… she can come out of there and be left to go in and out of the main cat house and the catio until she gets used to it… and the cats… but you know what you are doing :) so I will just shut my mouth and let you do what you do best! :)
It’ll be interesting to see how they behave when I let her out of the crate.

Sushi should not be let out for 6 months or so. Since she was a free range cat in her previous life. She will leave. She needs to make friends with your other cats first. She feels she has been dumped.
I don’t know about 6 months but i definitely won’t rush things. It’s winter now anyway, I’ll reassess once spring is here.

@@patc7198 yes he is a chonkers but also the whole claw crew has put on weight for the winter. You’ll actually see them shed some weight along with their winter costs once spring is here.
BS about cats needing so long or they will go wonder off. We used to take our cats to our holiday homes and let them roam free, they allways came back.
There's a lot of cats all over the world getting lost or disappearing every year because they're let out on their own too quickly and don't know their way home. That you was lucky doesn't mean that it's bs.
@@Funky420Infotainment it’s not BS at all. Do you leave your cats alone there? They stay cause they’re with you and the family. This cat obviously doesn’t know me and misses home. Fozzy was lost in our forest for 3 days cause I let him out to roam, because he didn’t know me he wouldn’t come back and I thought I lost him. I ended up trapping him to get him back and licked him in our barn for a month.
