Hi Richard there's no line connecting the boats that i'm casting between from that corner. It's not snaggy there I've only had the odd one or two snags in all the times I've fished there. I haven't fished next to the crane before i usually only fish at the marina or right along to the very end jetty.
Nice going mate. I used to work at the rope factory in the background, bridon, near the crane. they poured all sorts of horrible things down the drains that run straight into the river. endless rows with management about it. reported them, nothing changed. disgusting
It depends where about you will be fishing on the river. If you are fishing in fresh water for coarse fish you need to buy a rod licence and in some places a day permit. If you are fishing for sea fish from beaches etc you do not need a licence. Doing a Google search for the place you want to fish would be best to find out if you need a licence and a permit to fish that particular river.
What baits are you using? Do you catch anything at this time of year? I went out just down from the bike hub for my first ever attempt - caught nowt (using mackerel) but had a laugh at my own poor ass performance anyway! Haha. Good videos btw. Keep it up 👍🏻
Thanks C4ptain, I think i was using mostly frozen baits there possibly rag worm as well. I'm not sure if there is much about in the river at the min with all the freshwater coming down the river but there could be the odd one or two cod kicking about. February/ early March seem to be pretty poor for fishing in the river.
That cod must have got a nosebleed from the change in altitude! 😂
Excellent videos you’re making Gary. Really enjoy watching them. Fished the north east for years but learned loads by watching your videos.
Top work.
Thanks David I appreciate that. 👍

Thanks Michael. Yeah it's shocking how these companies think they can do what they want to the river.
Good video there Gary! Why do you fasten your rod to the railing like that? Is is because of debris in the river? cheers Gary.
+Gary Shears Thanks. Just to stop the wind from blowing it along the railing.
Do you need to license to fish on Rivers also? I live near River Roding in East London, Always wondered if rivers would be free to fish?

Generally if a river is tidal you don’t need a licence to fish up to extent of high water.
fished there my self got 3 and half pound cod was chuffed lol
Excellent.
How big was that cod mate?
About 42 - 45cm mate.
