I own the obd1 code reader for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury. I just plug it into the test port under the hood of my 1992 Ford Tempo. It gives me a code number. I look up the code number in the thick book that came with the code reader and it said "cylinder 1 misfire." I bought mine at Walmart back in the day, but I still see them on ebay for $40. You had to buy separate obd1 code readers for each brand of vehicle you owned. I looked at reviews of the adapter cable that connects your obd1 port to your new obd2 code reader and tons of people in the comments said that they wasted money, because their's don't work.
Its been 20 some years since I regularly diagnosed OBD 1 cars. Even then i had a scan tool. Thanks for the refresher.👍
My daughter is restoring a 94 Bronco. I’m directing her to your channel. Keep,up,the good work!
That's super cool! If she's on Instagram that's a good way for us to keep in touch as well (@ Girlie Garage)
This is like learning to speak a secret language! Thanks for decoding them
مه Hello, how are you, can I send you a number and a note and say what is a problem in a car
You're a wealth of knowledge! Thank you!
Yeah mine is on the drivers firewall but the prong and test plug are the exact same. It’s at least worth a shot. Thanks for the reply!!
Let us know how it goes! You never know if you might help someone with the same question in the future!
Good exploration
Great job, so ubderstandable.

Does the same Apply to Key on Engine on?
thanks for showing me how to locate my problem and fix it now it pass smog so thanks pretty girl keep smiling
What if the engine like does not blink? 88 mercury grand marquis.
What is code one the web site you linked and the Hans manual dose not have a 1 only 11 and up I’ve gotten 2 codes for a 1. From my understanding of this
There is no “1” as far as I have read. If someone else wants to chime in, I’d be happy to hear. If you want to set up a quick 15 mins consulting session, you could record the codes, send it to me and we can go through it together. Let me know - there’s a contact form on my website.
Does this do diesels? Cant figure out why my 1994 powerstroke is throwing a check engine. It’s an obd1 only.
If it does work for a diesel engine, where you would jump the pins is probably in a different place in the engine bay
Anyone know if this would work with the 1988 ford ranger with the 2.9
Yes, give it a try
Does this only apply to when the check engine light is on while driving? Try to source an issue but my Check Engine light isnt on.
With OBDII the codes are stored. I don’t know if OBDI stores the codes. Did you find an answer?
I believe they do store I’m going to check mine as it has an intermittent engine light
I have had 2 times a check engine light turns on but when the vehicle is turned off it never shows up again this just happens to me and the last one was like 2 months ago any idea of why??
How do I pull abs codes?
Sounds like that generation of Ford Ranger only has rear ABS and it’s a pretty simple system so I would check the forums based on your symptoms
would a 1991 foxbody have this?
Google could probably help with that. My instinct says “yes”
Yup, except on that era, theres usually two single plugs at the diagnostic port, one is the self test, one is the hood light wire. if you jumper the wrong one it cooks the self test circuit in the ECM.

Link me to early Fords obd1 code
It’s in the video description
it doesn't say what sensers may be at fault
You can potentially test sensors individually with a voltimeter
Wow whoever own these kind of vehicles I feel sorry you lol
You said one then another one and you called it 11 how do you know that,
that's not 2?
Because of the length of the pause
This makes no since to me
What questions arise? Do you have a check engine light?
