They look like a cross between an anteater and a hedgehog. They're cute though.

I saw an Echidna last night on the road in the Adelaide Hills. Thank fully it was still light and stopped and made sure he/she was completely off the road so it was safe from other vehicles.
They're very vulnerable as they are slow moving.
Only the second time I've seen them in the wild.
