For any who don't know where to look. The Verses before the Runes are recited translate to something like: All the witches ( Or Seeress ) spring from Witolf, All the warlocks are of Willharm, And the spell-bearers spring from Swarthead; All the ogres of Ymir come.
@@Jürgen_von_Schumacher the runes are _not_ Proto-Germanic. Proto-Germanic is a language, the runes are a writing system, like the Latin or Cyrillic alphabets. The one in the video is a direct transcription of the lyrics below. The language is always the same, only written in a different alphabet. Moreover, Proto-Germanic is a lost language, with no written traces left anywhere, so there's no way that thing could be a transcription of it
@@FlamSparks That's true. I don't know why I said that 🤣🤦♂️ The Runes are Elder Futhark, my bad. When I was saying Proto Germanic, I guess I was moreso relying on Proto Germanic being the language to use the Elder Futhark runes. Thank you for pointing out my mistake 🙂
@@Jürgen_von_Schumacher that's....still not quite correct: in the song, they're chanting out Elder Furthark, so _that_ bit is indeed in EF. But the rest of the song is transcribed in Younger Futhark, because that's the most widely used set in Old Norse transcriptions. Elder Futhark inscriptions are rare and they were used in an older variety of the language (leaning more towards Proto-Norse, but most certainly not Proto-Germanic)

What this language?
Old Norse
Old Norse, some Icelandic pronunciations, and the Runes that are being chanted are Elder Futhark
