My parents and I used to travel through Wytheville and Hillsville when traveling to our family reunions in Martinsville from Knoxville back in the days before big highways and Interstates. Thank you for bringing back some great memories. I haven't been back up that way much since they passed.

They had to move from Sperryville to another location because Sperryville didn't want them anymore.

I've traveled most all the back roads from Bristol north and many times on a motorcycle and fished the New River. I can tell you about so many land marks and sights in that area and heading south. Have a cool day!

Adam! I know it's a long shot but there is a Harry Potter Festival in Roanoke VA this weekend if you wanted to try and stop by that! The scenery is beautiful and there's an amazing science and art museum downtown. Plus you can't miss the giant neon star that overlooks the valley on Mill Mountain!

There is a community appreciation block party in Shartlesville, PA. at Roadside America on May 20th. Don't know if you ever plan on coming that far north but thought you might like to check it out.
Most likely that was an old mill site where the river has the dam. water would be collected in that pool and used to turn the gears to turn the saw blades or mill stone. The country, windy road you were on is exactly like the roads I travel daily in Eastern Kentucky.
It's pronounced WITH-ville, Virginia. I used to live about 30 minutes from there, years ago. Very beautiful scenic drives on the Blue Ridge parkway are some of my favorite memories of the area.

A good place to settle down is Weatherford Texas. Why Rents are reasonable, It is near Dfw airport, you can drive to Florida in a day and a half. you can drive to other states easily. God Bless
When I would travel to Maryland from Georgia we would take I-77 the mountain in Fancy Gap is breathtaking. Very bad in the winter, saw many trucks use the runaway truck ramps. But the thing I remember most, was there was an old country store that was named " Mayberry Station", they had all sorts of Andy Griffith memorabilia. They even had jars of pickles called Aunt Bees pickles. But the most fascinating thing was they sold sandwiches and they were named after characters from the show. Otis porkchop, Andy hamburger, Barney hotdog. I could have spent hours looking at that stuff. They had really good old fashion hamburgers and my husband and I would get a sak full and eat them on the road. Good memories

A good place to settle down is Weatherford Texas. Why Rents are reasonable, It is near Dfw airport, you can drive to Florida in a day and a half. you can drive to other states easily. God Bless

When I would travel to Maryland from Georgia we would take I-77 the mountain in Fancy Gap is breathtaking. Very bad in the winter, saw many trucks use the runaway truck ramps. But the thing I remember most, was there was an old country store that was named " Mayberry Station", they had all sorts of Andy Griffith memorabilia. They even had jars of pickles called Aunt Bees pickles. But the most fascinating thing was they sold sandwiches and they were named after characters from the show. Otis porkchop, Andy hamburger, Barney hotdog. I could have spent hours looking at that stuff. They had really good old fashion hamburgers and my husband and I would get a sak full and eat them on the road. Good memories
