Thank you Tilly, Have seen double gauze, and not really known what it is or how to use it great to now understand both what it is and how to handle it.
This is so helpful. I am new to sewing and just had 1/2 meter double gauze in a remnants pack. I love the feel of it.. Not knowing what that is and hownto handle it someone in a social media sewing group recommended your video. Thank you very much for this. 🌻
I love double gauze. I bought a few yards when I first started sewing two summers ago but quickly realized it isn't "beginner friendly." Lol. But NOW I'm ready. I'm just double-checking how best to finish my sleeves and necklines. Will try a bias tape for this first piece.
Thank you for all the tips. I started falling in love with this fabric when I realized I could take old baby swaddle blankets and turn them into summer pajamas for my kids. Now they love it too! However, now that they're older, I'm trying to make sure the pajamas will withstand the wear and tear. I've decided to try and french seam this latest batch of breathable sleepwear. My question is, since there's a fair amount of play in the fabric, should I still use a straight stitch, or would a zig zag be better, even though it's a french seam? Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm self taught on the machine, so I don't know a lot of the fundamentals that might be common knowledge to most.
I washed my double gauze fabric, then I ironed it on low heat so I don’t get rid of the lovely crinkle texture. Then I laid my fabric out and cut out my pattern pieces. However, I had a problem when I came to sewing the pieces together, some of my pattern pieces stretched and became much bigger than the actual paper pattern! The enlargement happened width-wise. E.g, my bodice is wider than what it should be. I need help!
I’m researching sewing with double gauze and saw a UA-cam tuition saying to steam the fabric if it stretches - don’t put the iron down on it, hover it over the fabric and press the steam function. Hope this helps.
@@gaynormainwaring1853 thank you so much for being kind enough to answer my question! I’m having so much trouble sewing with my double gauze- everything is turning out badly and the fit is ridiculous! So i will try and hover lots of steam on it, but I don’t think it will be enough to solve the fit issue, sadly! I’m really deflated about the result I got considering the time and effort I put into it, but oh well. Thanks so much again, I’m so glad you saw my comment and bothered to reply 😊😊
I just sewed up some pj's in this fabric and all my seams are snapping, while the zigzags hold. Do you think this could be because the stitch length is too short? I'm a total novice so all tips are appreciated!
You could try ordering from Joann's, most of their pictures seem to be pretty true to color/ texture. Plus, if you get something plainly colored, you can always dye it yourself. That's actually something I am trying for a project at the moment.
Not sure if you'll see this one year later, but I'm in AZ! SAS Fabric Superstore in Phoenix carries a lot of apparel fabrics! I recently found some lovely double gauze at Joann too.

Can you sew sequins and bugle beads on it ?
I can't imagine why not. You may need to use some sort of interfacing/stabilizer.
I’m making the Suki dress from double gauze. And I’ve colour blocked it in the front xx
Ooh that sounds lovely!

@@nusaibahibraheem8183 Okay😕
Where is the fabric from for your 3rd dress in the video? It looks amazing.
The fabric is incredible, isn't it? It's from Spoonflower, designed by Kenna Sato x
Do you have a pattern for the dresses you were wearing at the beginning ?
Tilly's wearing the Stevie pattern with the gathered skirt from our Stevie add-on 💙
Where do you get or order your gauze.??? The stuff on line is ugly. No more fabric stores her in Arizona.
Hello, I’m in the UK and I’ve just bought some lovely double gauze from Amazon.

Hi! Which pattern has the instructions for the bow at the neck shown in dress three? I love it!

Whats the pattern/dress you are wearing? Is it steive or indigo?
It's the Stevie Add-On pattern x
