  • Daiya recently released their newest dairy free cheese flavors: Feta Style Block and their Grilling Cheeze Block (a plant-based version of halloumi). I'm pretty excited to have a dairy free halloumi cheese option available now!
Both Mediterranean style cheeses are soy free, dairy free, plant based, non-GMO certified, gluten free, peanut free, and more.
Check out our thoughts on the taste for both flavors and they cook well and hold up to the heat.
After making this video, I tried cooking the dairy free grilling cheese on the actual grill. I put them on a kabob stick and they broke apart and fell off and burned in 6 minutes (too hot and too long). So I tried again with just a block piece on the grill and it stuck to the grill, so it needed some oil. I just scrapped the idea since I was running out of cheese and cooked the rest of the grilled block in a lightly oiled pan.
If you're going to put this on an actual grill, it needs oil and moderate (not high) heat. I still prefer cooking this in the pan vs the grill, it made a mess on my grill.
I added the ingredient labels to the video, but if you're having a hard time seeing them, you can get a closer look at the ingredient labels on the Daiya website:

I've tried the grilling cheese once, it was quite good, very similar to Violife's "Grill Me". The feta is new to our area, will try tonight and see how it goes!

Keep me posted what you think! I didn’t realize Violife has a grilling cheese, I’ll have to look for it.

The Daiya Grilling Cheeze is divine! Just takes patience while cooking - but the result is mini grilled cheese sandwich taste in each bite!

I really like it! I wish some of our local stores carried it here, I found I could order the refrigerated cheeses from PlantX that I can't find here, so I was able to order more of the Daiya feta and grilling cheese since Daiya stopped selling it on their own website for shipping.

I have similar issues with Miyoko's Brand - they don't seem to have anything available in Canada except vegan butter@@thefitcookie Would love to know how I could try their products in Canada?

PlantX has a Canadian website where you can order from them with shipping throughout Canada. It looks like their Canadian website has a bunch of Miyokos products! Here's the link to their CA website: plantx.ca/

I just recently scored both of these on a trip to Canada. I have not found them yet near me in Michigan. What I was curious about is if you can treat the grilling one like a block of cheese for Saganaki?

Hi Kelly! I think that the grilling cheese block would work to make Saganaki since it holds up pretty well to cooking. If you give it a try, let us know how it goes for you 🙂

Hi Penny, what recipe would you like? The only one we have in the video is our feta pasta, here’s the recipe for that: thefitcookie.com/easy-dairy-free-and-gluten-free-baked-feta-pasta/

I'd like different ways to cook it, spice it and use it. I've been plant based for over 6 years, so I can experiment with confidence. But I would think you'd like to sell more of your product, so it would be to your benefit to post a couple of great recipes, and suggest ways to use it.

The Daiya cheeses I'm trying in this video are not my own products, they are just products I was testing out. I don't have tons of recipes for these aside from a spinach artichoke dip recipe on our website (thefitcookie.com/easy-dairy-free-spinach-artichoke-dip/). The Daiya website doesn't have recipes for their products anymore, but their social channels do have recipe ideas, like their Instagram page.
