I know you have other things on your lineup first, and I’m not even sure who would be the best fit, but I’ve loved watching this playthrough and the Erdtree DLC one, and so I think a playthrough of last year’s Lords of the Fallen would be a great time.
It was kinda unstable on launch but it runs way better now, and they added a bunch of features, including item and enemy randomizer. I actually felt like it was a return to classic soulslike form, and felt like an old school D&D game with the kind of metal hardcore art motifs.

I played through DMC5 and it' a pretty good game.. but it's not as good or cool as this one. Ninja Theory got the short end of the stick at launch, but i'm glad DMC has been on a resurgence in the last few years.

The game isn't bad. I feel like your biases and the hate it received are 2 major things that got you both believing that the game is way better than it actually is.
