    As The Magnus Archives role-playing game by them is coming up it seemed to be a good time to start to actuality learn about the system.
    Amazing and comprehensive video!

    Seeing it put this way, it's really quite simple, even though it's very different from the classic d20 school of games. And yes, spend your XP when you can, having lots of XP won't matter if you're dead 🤣

    I played Numenera quite a bit a few years back, and that's Cypher System. I think my only criticism of the system is the tendency for players to death spiral, as you spend what is effectively your HP to do things while fighting enemies that also deplete said HP. For Might-based characters especially it felt pretty easy to go from totally okay to dead and feel like there was no point that you could have really gotten yourself out of it.

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  Рік тому +2

      That’s a problem many people have at the start and it takes some getting used to. Especially by dnd players. Make some encounters a bit easier so that people don’t need to spend all their recourses all the time. Also do enough GM intrusions so you can give your players xp and they can use that later to reroll ect.
      Also, get yourself a healer in the party 😉

    • @MachineWraith
      @MachineWraith Рік тому +3

      @@MrTarrasque A healer definitely would have helped the party, lol. It didn't stop my group playing, we still played 3 campaigns back to back and had a blast. People just ended up gravitating away from Might-focused builds to give themselves some "cushion".

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  Рік тому +1

      @MachineWraith totally get that. A healer get’s to heal whatever atribute they want so it’s actually pretty fun to do

    So monsters have the same difficulties as any other task, when in combat?

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  Рік тому +1

      Yes, a lvl 3 monster is a nine to hit or to defend against in theory. That said, some monster have things like because they are huge they are easier to hit and so their defense against physical attacks count as lvl two (6 to hit)

    I want to run a Planescape campaign. There is no way I am using 5E. How easy would it be to run it with Cypher? And what supplements should i get?

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  7 місяців тому +2

      The Cypher system is good for any type of game, period. The whole idea of the system is that it just works for anything, is easy to run and fun to improvise on.
      That sais, Path of the Planebreaker might be the book for you. I have it but haven't looked super deep into it but you can get it here (affiliate link):

    Why not just use a smaller die instead of multiplying by 3.
    20/3= 6.7.
    Could have been a 1d8 game and say have to beat the DC by 1.

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  Рік тому

      Many reasons, one being that would not allow for nat 1, 17, 18, 19 & 20. Cause that would be almost every roll
