CASTING METAL LURES FOR MACKEREL | MACKEREL FISHING UK

- After trying for an early season mackerel the previous day, I went back to a mark to see if I could find a few more. This video was filmed just before the mackerel seemed to have turned up in any great numbers and the fishing was slow to say the least.
However, I did manage to find a couple, along with a small bass which was a pleasant surprise.
With the sun out and a nice bright day, although the fishing wasn’t the best, it was great to be out casting lures again.
Join me in this video to see how the session went. Thanks for watching and see you on the next one 🎣

Mate, I love your videos I’ve been a been a lure angler for quite awhile now had a few . but had a lot more since watching your videos. Help me with my technique and everything. Thanks for your videos. Thanks for your time .
Ahh thank you mate. I’m glad the videos are useful to you. I appreciate that a lot!
I was pleased to see you catch the mackerel , makes your efforts worthwhile. Good on you Cal
Thanks Yvonne 😀🎣
Mackerel is DELICIOUS
Hold your lure still when you are talking about it. I'm interested to see what it is like, but couldn't?
Is it good money for water like that! It’s like chocolate milk on my marks
That seal was probably looking for some fish that you could spare with him 🤩💯! Awesome video man, loved it, keep them coming 👍! Watching you all the way from Kazakhstan 😉🖐
Wow, thanks a lot mate! I appreciate it 👍🏼🎣
You must of been melting in all that gear 👍
Great adventures
Cool session, Cal, loved the previous session, too, fish and feed, you have both the catching and cooking sorted, brother!
Love watching your videos on Mackerel fishing with metal lures, we do have Mackerel here in New Zealand, the smaller variety hang around wharfs and are hard to find, they take 10/15gm metals, blue Mackerel are offshore, and you need a boat to find them, what I target in NZ is Kahawai, at river mouths or off the beach, a big Kahawai is 3kg, i rig/ dress a lot of metal lures myself from 15to 50gm.
That sounds awesome mate. It sounds like you get a good variety over there! We get the odd bonito, but they’re not common. We also get Spanish mackerel too, they have small black spots on them but they never seem to be over a 1lb. I’d love to hook a 3/4lb mackerel over here! They put up a great scrap for their size.
Nice sunglasses. Thanks for showing.
🎣💪👋
I was using the same way to fish tuna back in Asia. Sadly now I live on London and hard to find the similar shore like yours. Only way the catch them here is dragging the multi hooks lure on the seabed. Personally I think that is boring
That sounds fun! I bet tuna put up a brilliant fight on light gear. Yeah, it’s not as much fun when using feathers. You need a bit of sport!
Good one for the evening
Tight lines
Good on Ya Cal cheers 😉👍🍻
What is the brand of rod you use?
In this video I was using a Shimano Technium 21-54g rod. It’s 8.4ft 👍🏼
Good start cal
Nice one Cal
Nice session. In my experience, when a predator shows up, it's always a good sign, because the fish must also be there. Furthermore, fish will often follow a predator at a safe distance to keep an eye on it. You can see it in the wild when lions and leopards are moving around. Therefore, it's also a good strategy to cast some distance behind the seal, or whatever.
Yeah I agree mate. The seals are there for a reason, they can see more than you can. The only thing that concerns me is having one go for a fish that you’ve hooked or, hitting a seal with your lure.
great video mate i need to start getting a move on now 😄
Love your videos man🙌 Great content
Keep them coming,thanks!
Cheers mate, much appreciated!
Hey cal, great video! Do you just rinse your kit after each session or is there any special maintenance you do? Also do you always try and get their at the peak of high tide? Cheers
Always rinse after saltwater…. lures, reel, rod. Salt kills metal pieces in a very short time
Hi mate. I rinse my kit yeah, but I do it maybe once a month. If it’s taken a good soaking then I’ll do it that day but most of the time it’s just every now and then.
I’ll fish different spots at all sorts of state of tide. Some high, some low, flood, ebb etc etc. it all depends on the venue.
Brilliant 👍
Do you ever target the mullet Cal?
I have done yeah. I’m still yet to catch one though! Although I’ve not caught one yet, I love targeting them. It’s great fun catching bream etc on such a light bit of kit. I’ll be out once the mullet start showing up here in the near future.
Congrats on 10k bro....
Cheers mate 👍🏼
Get yer mullet on cal, what are they like to catch??!
I will be soon mate! I’m yet to catch one yet though. Fingers crossed it’ll happen this year
@@FISHINGWITHCAL fingers crossed for you bro 👊🏼 …
Nice catch what rod and reel are you using
I was using a Shimano Technium 21-54g rod and a Shimano Twin Power 5000 XG. Not needed for this style of fishing but it’s what I had in the car at the time
I'm going to perenport in Cornwall soon and would like to try some lure fishing
@@roystheboy Nice! Good luck 🎣
Are you from down south?
I’m from Guernsey. So yes, far down south haha
