I've seen many videos of people talking about the insurgency and political issues in Nagaland and Naga areas but no body talks about the atrocity done by the Indian Army since the beginning of the political movement. Thousands of Innocent villagers being killed, men being torture in front of their wife and children, women being raped, houses and villages burn down and uprooted, force labour, violations of human rights. Nobody talks about the trauma innocent Nagas have face.

My Granny was brutally raped by 10 Indian Army soldiers.
She is at her 80's now.
She still got the trauma. She can't hear people talking Hindi as it flashes back all the memory.
We Nagas are patriotic and accepts wholeheartedly as an Indian now. But remember the scars will never be healed no matter how much we try to forget it.

Do you have an iota of knowledge how 'insurgency' (according to Indians) started? And how it got more active in political and social life of the Nagas?
The untold stories of Indian Armies atrocities to the people of Nagas is the main cause. Please note it. How can we forget the mass murder, rape, maiming on suspicion, torturing, grouping of villagers, etc by the Indian Armies? No wonder, the older folks still avoid, run away when they see the Armies till today, because they have succeded in instilling fear in us (though, not the new generation of Nagas).
The historic account of Nagas written by Kaka D. Iralu, 'The Naga Saga' was banned by the Indian Government due to the reasons best known to them. Well, we only see it as a hypocrisy.
Knowledge is power, but little knowledge is very dangerous. Therefore, all aspects need to be included in sharing such complex history.

As an NRI, I see a lot of friends from the neighbouring countries here.
Hence, I was curious to know what could be the reasons/ what is India not doing "strategically correct" that is leading to a growing anti-India sentiment in the people of Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Maldives? (as they are very important neighbours to us)

    • @sherrysharad
      @sherrysharad 9 місяців тому

It's what India generally had with these countries, 'The Big Brother' attitude.
Always telling various governments, about what they should or shouldn't do has lead to that sentiments.
But, it's the other way round as well. Most people in India despise Bangladeshis and consider them freeloaders and radicals.
Also, if India starts a totally business oriented approach with these 'neighbours', they are most likely to not feel pretty good about it after sometime, as all that nationalism can be for domestic posturing, but may backfire on economic, trade and security grounds.

This is hypocritic one sided narration. Journalism should be true and critical to both sides.
" Nagas have every right to be Independent", Mahatma Gandhi, 19th July, 1947.
Fact is, Nagas are forcefully integrated into Indian Union with Men killed, women raped, Villages burnt, innocent beaten to death by the operation of indian Government in 1950s. In 1963, Nagaland was created as separate State of India bifurcating Naga communities to Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar creating further complications. This is why Nagas are present all over NorthEast India. Nagas did not spread but bifurcated by Indian govt into many states.

This episode on the political development of Nagas seemed to be marred by a blatant bias in favor of the ruling government. The narrator's attempt to curry favor compromised the objectivity of the narration, resulting in a skewed perspective. The comprehensive narration lacked the necessary depth and fairness, veering towards an imprecise portrayal of events. Such one-sided storytelling not only undermines the credibility of the information but also does a disservice to the audience seeking a balanced understanding of political developments.

The entire North East was never part of 'India' and was taken by the Brits. India as usual thought of itself as the inheritor of the British Raj which is laughable. To this day, north east isn't well integrated with India and probably never will.

Honestly, the influence of the Nagas on the rest of North Eastern people has been positive as well as negative. IMO, I saw that being proud of our own identity was very important. But that came with a lot of chauvinism and disregard towards other communities.
They're a fun-loving bunch of people but then again we you get close to them they're riddled with hedonism and some derived it without respect for others' boundaries.
They were the most extravagant people and always a standard above the rest of us. Until we realised where the funding and exposure were coming from. The poor condition of infrastructure in their state and self-funding out of government allocations. And I'm speaking of the 1990s & 2000s yet even in 2023 it isn't much different when it comes to public infrastructure.
I've seen many people ruin their lives "trying to keep up with the Jones". Over time they became a burden everywhere they went and a stereotype most want to disassociate from. Even themselves.
Overall, it is high time that the insurgency and extortionist behaviour is ridiculed in Nagaland. This promoted a generation to live a lifestyle of hooligans and bullies without consequences. They paved the way for tribalism among youths instead of camaraderie and fraternity.
The youths of Manipur are also similar. That toxic nature led to the on-going issue in Manipur.
