If you are thinking about flying your DJI Spark inside, you'll (probably) be fine! It's fairly easy to set everything up properly, to make sure that you don't run into any problems if you attempt indoor flight.
I go over the RTH settings, which you don't actually need to change! If you are within a certain distance, the Spark will not ascend or go high if it loses connection with the controller-it will simply drop down to about a foot and hover.
I also discuss setting up tripod mode and disabling the avoidance sensors, which you can do at your own risk.
All footage at the end is shot with the Spark, in Tripod mode-no editing or stabilizing done!

Very good video,very informative!!
Drone technology has really gotten amazing, so stable.
What tablet mount do you have there? Looks sturdy.
Right here! amzn.to/2DKiSic
I've had no problems with it at all.
I can't emphasize this enough. These things aren't toys. Yes there is a "Sport mode" but I don't recommend using it unless you have to.
I was flying outside with propeller guards on, and doing a full-forward to a full-reverse maneuver caused the spark to trip it's angular-tilt Fail-Safe shutting the motors off due to the extra weight of the prop guards themselves. With only a scuff from the fall it took, I would later discover (months later) that the EMC board (located beneath the motor) had actually cracked and would overheat due to it's partially severed connection to the motor.
Awesome video!!! Where did you get your nice soundtrack?
bensound.com provides the background music! Nothing crazy or famous, but you can use it without issue on your videos if you pay or site it (see video notes).
Thanks for the queue!! Keep on doing your nice work body ;)
I express my gratitude for the video and sharing example footage. I am hoping to one day try the Spark in the future, and your guide helps immensely.
Thanks for posting. Going to try flying indoors. I think I'll use the prop guards tho.
Yes.
I am glad I found this video because I want to rotate around object(s) that are indoors for advertising. Great flying and lovely house! Thanks for sharing.
I am amazed how nice the video is.. Do you have to do much edititing to get such quality?
Footage from the Spark? This is straight off camera/memory card. No change to stabilization, color, brightness etc.
The Spark is an amazing machine. Not even considering it’s size, which makes it that much more remarkable. For all but the most demanding pros, it is all they’ll ever need....for now. 😬
Great video. Have you ever tried taking off inside and then flying out through the open window and on to outside? I don’t own a drone but it would be something I would like to do as my apartment has the beach immediately in front of it. However I see and read many posts saying do not do this!
Your video made it look very easy! What are your thoughts on this?
I've done it before, but it can be risky. A few main issues. First, flying through a window or door may be hard, despite obstacle avoidance etc (sometimes it can "see" the walls on the sides, and it won't even let you go through the open space because it thinks its too narrow). The other issue is GPS, if the drone sort of received gps info, lost it, and found it again, it may think that it had drifted and will overcorrect and hit a wall or something.
With that said, you most certainly could do it-but certainly get a drone and try flying it first and then decide if you wanna tackle something like that!
Hello !! Interesting video !! I have an android phone can you tell me if i can have the map ? i can't find how to get it !!
Try clicking the radar map
have it sitting boxed for over a month now :D your video gives me confidence in the stability and quality. Thanks!!
Get out there and fly! Choose a nice, wide open space-you'll feel comfortable in no time!
ContinueCrushingTech had my first 3 flights and loving it! And the care package was a reassurance too. Thanks again for the tips!
Great video thanks..Real big help but what happens if it connects to GPS by some chance indoors? Think I'm correct saying that it can't be put into ATTI Mode so it would be constantly looking for a GPS signal.
It would probably drop gps pretty quick. It can't be forced into ATTI mode only, unfortunately.
Excellent video and very helpful! I just got a spark and trying to learn and get comfortable flying it before my trip next month when I plan to really use it a lot! Appreciate this video. Very cool! ✌🏽
I think we all came here because of the drone but the beauty of the house overshadows the lesson itself! What city do you live in?
This is Canyon Hills, California
On your screen you have both map and radar, how that possible? I only can switch between the two. I can't make both appear simultaneously.
Hmm, you can't have one on each side? What size screen/tablet are you using?
In RC settings it has an option to change what happens if it loses reception
its nice but you haven't mentioned the light requirements for indoor flight.
True. It needs some, not sure the exact amount-but I'd turn on all the lights just to be sure.
Thanks for the reply
Ditto on your piloting skills, and on your house. You keep a nice place to live.
Great video to learn from. Thanks for sharing
Great video! Ia have a question. Do you have propellers protection? In minute 4 it seems that you are going to crash but the dron bounces. Does it because of the sense&avoid or protection propellers? Thanks
no prop guards-the "bounce" was from obstacle avoidance!
ContinueCrushingTech But a few seconds later appears obstacle avoidance switched off.
ah yeah, it does look like it bounces now that I look at it. Still didn't have prop guards on, and obstacle avoidance was off (as shown) but my quick "holy cow (+plus pulling back on the stick)" made it look like it bounced.
Thanks, answered some of my questions. Day 2 and its raining outside.
Lame! It always seems to rain when you're trying to use new features or drones!
yup
@@ContinueCrushingTech Or it's just very windy. First 2 days we had 90 km/h winds over here. And seeing as the Spark peaks at 50 in sport mode flying wasn't an option.
Lets say u were flying the drone and it fell somewhere far from u. Will u be able to locate its position from the map on the apps phone? Even if the drone is shut down due to any reason? Am asking this cuz lost my parrot mambo and it doesnt have gps so am scared this happens to spark when i get it thanx in advance
Good piloting and nice house!
What happened when You fly from indoor to outdoor and drone fix gps signal?
It will bring you a pizza. Jk. The drone will use the gps to create more stable flight and hovering. HOWEVER, use caution with this as sometimes it will breifly gain gps, lose it, and then gain it again...the issue is that the drone may think it has drifted, and can/will fly into the house/fence/etc thinking its been pushed by the wind or something. So if you do this, move away from the building/door/window you flew out of quickly.
I just got a dji spark and the Remote Control is beeping like crazy indoors. How do I shut that beeping Help. Thanks
Thank u for this video, my wife just bought me the spark online w/o manual. Your video helped me a lot on how to fly indoor.
Nice, I really really like the spark! Be safe and have fun!
Appreciate it sir
thanks for the helpful video! and your house is super beautiful, likes every details there!
Thanks for sharing
Great video. Looks like a model house.
Very nice video and thank for guidance i am industrial video maker can i use this in indoor , normally we have to work in engineering unit where machine and raw material of still are all around, to take some top and closeup in spark it it possible please guide us thanks again
Perhaps use a handheld Osmo instead?
I don't know what is wrong with my spark it did loose control in my first flight I need help
Very nicely done. I've tried to replicate everything you demonstrated. For some reason my RC beeps insanely at me while I fly around my house. Can you explain why, and what I should be doing differently?
Hmm, is there any message on the screen?
Just the ones in your video - No GPS, I'm flying in a no-fly zone, the colored warning that I'm getting close to something. Also, the frequency of the beeping changes with the drone's heading. As I rotate it 360 degrees, the beeping will cease at one heading, then accelerate until it's going crazy at another heading.
CORRECTION: The mad beeping is coming from my iPhone, not the RC. The rate of beeping is slow when the drone faces me and extremely rapid when it faces away from me. Also I noticed the 3D Sensing Icon at the top of the screen is Red.
Ah, sounds like it's mad that its inside. Is there anything obstructing the sensors on it? Normally if you get near a wall or something it'll start beeping, but odd that it only does a slow beep when facing you. How much light is there?
Well my rooms are not as large as the ones in your video, and I have only 8 foot ceilings. Lighting is pretty good though and I've tried it in several rooms with the same result. Also I do have Obstacle Avoidance disabled. Are there other sensors that cannot be disabled and are getting angry at me?
should we turn on GPS on our handphone if we are in indoor mode flight ? please advise ya
It won't matter, honestly. The Spark determines if you are inside or not (based on gps quality) so regardless of what your phone knows, it should hover in place if it loses connection. Keep in mind that it will auto land where it is, but how long before it auto lands depends on whether you are using the RC or just phone to control.
Thanks for sharing, great tip on the tripod mode.
I just bought my spark and tried to fly inside. In beginner mode while flying in my living room.....I lost control - it disconnected and it flew into the wall and crashed. No damage.....flies great outside but I am afraid to fly inside.
Yeah, I avoid indoor stuff as much as possible-I wish they had a way to stop gps for indoor stuff.
Same happened to me first time I used it in beginner mode. After the crash, IMU error...had to send it back. Was covered under normal warranty as it's not supposed to do this. Sounds like beginner mode is dangerous inside for some reason.
Spark has auto switch from P-gps mode to ATI mode. Needs manual ati mode for in door flying. I turn off the sensors and fly as manually as I can. Works for my phantom 3 pro and spark. Just be careful.
@@ng-iq4kx
What switch? I thought the Spark had no swith for full ATTI mode.
@@whatsup7202 it has auto switch in the programming, when it doesn't pick up GPS being it's indoors it automatically switches to ATI mode. Turn off the sensors and stay away from outside walls of the house. Also move it slowly. Outside, if it loses gps it will switch to ATI. So be careful of that on cloudy days.
Nice house, nice interior
Your video was super helpful. Thanks for making this.
Your video help me....thanks...
Thnx for the video. I'm a new spark owner n this helps alot
Nice house!!! Nice video!!!
Thank you
Great tips. You have a nice home.
Great learning video for beginners,Thanks.
Nice video, it's that a model home, cuz it's so nice n clean
I am selling my Spark, to get me an Osmo Pocket. That same kind of footage is doable with the Osmo. But the Spark is a very fun drone to fly, It was my first drone, and am kind of emotionally tied to it. By the way, nice interiors!
Well done!! What a great drone.
Excellent video ! I learn it from this video. Your house is very big and nice. hahaha!
This video is simply stunning.
Good video and beautiful Home
I find your video very helpful
Thank you for this video. Some very good tips!
Woow... Amazing,Very good video bro.. good job 😎👍
Very useful vid! Lovely house... Nice and tidy, I like that:)
NIce video. The audio is not in sync.
the dang macbook "screen records" at a variable framerate making sync a pain in the butt!
Well done!
I just got this for my vlogs
nice video and house
Hey ContinuedCrushingTech awesome vid Bro, well done ) I just purchased one for my channel, great piloting skills awesome footage given me a lot of confidence in inside filming )) just need to unbox it now out take the plunge ) Andrew Penman )(
Sweet, do it! Just take your time and choose a nice open area (avoid indoors at first for sure).
Awesome ContinueCrushingTech ) fantastic Channel you have incredibly informative, well done )) keep up the great work )) I’ve sub’d Cheers thanks Bro ) thought it be great for some active track footage for my Electric Skateboard Review Channel )) tell me are you using the OTG cable ? or just WiFi ? I’ve got the iPhone 7 Plus and I heard doesn’t drop out much but which way should I go, the OTG or Wi-Fi ? And lastly are goggles any good ? If so which would you recommend for them ? Cheers bro thank you so much really appreciated )) Andrew Penman UA-cam EBoard Reviews )(
I am not using the OTG cable, as wifi has always been fine for me. It seems that some people swear by it, and others report the same/worse performance. It's a cheap test though, so pick one up if you want. The goggles look awesome, and I really wanna try them out! See if you can find a local to let you "test" them, I know some people get motion sick with them. Overall, you could buy used as I see a lot out there that someone tried a few times before deciding it wasn't for them. Basically, it's a "you won't know until you try" sort of deal.
Hey ContinueCrushingTech )) cheers bro thank you so much. I’m actually meeting a Drone expert pilot tomorrow on my UA-cam channel we going to do some footage with EBoards and the Phantom 4 and the Spark and he’s been flying drones for 15 years so he’ll give me some tips which I feel very confident about LOL... he’s also bringing goggles yay )) cheers buddy Fantastic)) keep up the great work on your channel ) Andrew )(
Andrew Penman, the trick to using googles is ," don't move your head" and always have a spotter with you.
Thank You!
Good job
Doesn't work tripod mode needs gps
Nice House - More Photage More More :)

Very Helpful Video! Your lovely home is like Trump's would be like .....if he had any taste! lol
U look like walker ha .
😮😮😮
My last name is macedo
like this...
Where did you get your adapter for your ipad? Link? Thanks, Mike.
ah, I wasn't using an adapter! I had the ipad plugged into my Mac to screen record (prior to IOS 11). I've only been using the wireless connection.
@@ContinueCrushingTech I believe he meant did that after that holds the iPad onto the controller. Instead of using the part that usually holds a phone. And by link he meant do you have a link to where you bought that.
Hello !! Interesting video !! I have an android phone can you tell me if i can have the map ? i can't find how to get it !!
