DJI Spark Indoor Flight Setup RTH Settings? Plus Tripod Mode Examples

    If you are thinking about flying your DJI Spark inside, you'll (probably) be fine! It's fairly easy to set everything up properly, to make sure that you don't run into any problems if you attempt indoor flight.
    I go over the RTH settings, which you don't actually need to change! If you are within a certain distance, the Spark will not ascend or go high if it loses connection with the controller-it will simply drop down to about a foot and hover.
    I also discuss setting up tripod mode and disabling the avoidance sensors, which you can do at your own risk.
    All footage at the end is shot with the Spark, in Tripod mode-no editing or stabilizing done!

    Thanks to Bensound.com for the music!

    I can't emphasize this enough. These things aren't toys. Yes there is a "Sport mode" but I don't recommend using it unless you have to.
    I was flying outside with propeller guards on, and doing a full-forward to a full-reverse maneuver caused the spark to trip it's angular-tilt Fail-Safe shutting the motors off due to the extra weight of the prop guards themselves. With only a scuff from the fall it took, I would later discover (months later) that the EMC board (located beneath the motor) had actually cracked and would overheat due to it's partially severed connection to the motor.

    The Spark is an amazing machine. Not even considering it’s size, which makes it that much more remarkable. For all but the most demanding pros, it is all they’ll ever need....for now. 😬

    Great video. Have you ever tried taking off inside and then flying out through the open window and on to outside? I don’t own a drone but it would be something I would like to do as my apartment has the beach immediately in front of it. However I see and read many posts saying do not do this!
    Your video made it look very easy! What are your thoughts on this?

    • @ContinueCrushingTech
      @ContinueCrushingTech  6 років тому +3

      I've done it before, but it can be risky. A few main issues. First, flying through a window or door may be hard, despite obstacle avoidance etc (sometimes it can "see" the walls on the sides, and it won't even let you go through the open space because it thinks its too narrow). The other issue is GPS, if the drone sort of received gps info, lost it, and found it again, it may think that it had drifted and will overcorrect and hit a wall or something.
      With that said, you most certainly could do it-but certainly get a drone and try flying it first and then decide if you wanna tackle something like that!

    Great video thanks..Real big help but what happens if it connects to GPS by some chance indoors? Think I'm correct saying that it can't be put into ATTI Mode so it would be constantly looking for a GPS signal.

    What happened when You fly from indoor to outdoor and drone fix gps signal?

    • @ContinueCrushingTech
      @ContinueCrushingTech  6 років тому +2

      It will bring you a pizza. Jk. The drone will use the gps to create more stable flight and hovering. HOWEVER, use caution with this as sometimes it will breifly gain gps, lose it, and then gain it again...the issue is that the drone may think it has drifted, and can/will fly into the house/fence/etc thinking its been pushed by the wind or something. So if you do this, move away from the building/door/window you flew out of quickly.

    Very nicely done. I've tried to replicate everything you demonstrated. For some reason my RC beeps insanely at me while I fly around my house. Can you explain why, and what I should be doing differently?

    • @ContinueCrushingTech
      @ContinueCrushingTech  7 років тому

      Hmm, is there any message on the screen?

    • @tfisher
      @tfisher 7 років тому

      Just the ones in your video - No GPS, I'm flying in a no-fly zone, the colored warning that I'm getting close to something. Also, the frequency of the beeping changes with the drone's heading. As I rotate it 360 degrees, the beeping will cease at one heading, then accelerate until it's going crazy at another heading.

    • @tfisher
      @tfisher 7 років тому

      CORRECTION: The mad beeping is coming from my iPhone, not the RC. The rate of beeping is slow when the drone faces me and extremely rapid when it faces away from me. Also I noticed the 3D Sensing Icon at the top of the screen is Red.

    • @ContinueCrushingTech
      @ContinueCrushingTech  7 років тому

      Ah, sounds like it's mad that its inside. Is there anything obstructing the sensors on it? Normally if you get near a wall or something it'll start beeping, but odd that it only does a slow beep when facing you. How much light is there?

    • @tfisher
      @tfisher 7 років тому +1

      Well my rooms are not as large as the ones in your video, and I have only 8 foot ceilings. Lighting is pretty good though and I've tried it in several rooms with the same result. Also I do have Obstacle Avoidance disabled. Are there other sensors that cannot be disabled and are getting angry at me?

    should we turn on GPS on our handphone if we are in indoor mode flight ? please advise ya

    • @ContinueCrushingTech
      @ContinueCrushingTech  7 років тому

      It won't matter, honestly. The Spark determines if you are inside or not (based on gps quality) so regardless of what your phone knows, it should hover in place if it loses connection. Keep in mind that it will auto land where it is, but how long before it auto lands depends on whether you are using the RC or just phone to control.

      Spark has auto switch from P-gps mode to ATI mode. Needs manual ati mode for in door flying. I turn off the sensors and fly as manually as I can. Works for my phantom 3 pro and spark. Just be careful.

    • @ng-iq4kx

      @@whatsup7202 it has auto switch in the programming, when it doesn't pick up GPS being it's indoors it automatically switches to ATI mode. Turn off the sensors and stay away from outside walls of the house. Also move it slowly. Outside, if it loses gps it will switch to ATI. So be careful of that on cloudy days.

See if you can find a local to let you "test" them, I know some people get motion sick with them.
