Dear Pankaj, along with my best regards Please, in my case, the river has an annual quota of around 10/11 meters, in the rainy season, the same, it fills 4 meters, however it overflows to the banks, how to configure this in the HEC. Could you help me with this issue. thank you for your kindness and attention.
Hi i have not seen river or breaklines on this vidios, maybe you can explain about river or breaklines in this vidio, because i always have a problem at this step
Thank you for your response. I haven't used breaklines in this video. Regarding the river, the boundary polygon is formed in such a way that it encloses the river.
You have to create a boundary and grid for the analysis. But the input in the upstream does not necessarily be discharge. One can apply stage hydrograph or rating curve too.
Sir, when I am going to run the model one error is coming again and again. The error is - Simulation time/date was not recognised, check the simulation time and date. However, I put all correct data, and is unaware how to solve the problem. Please help me, as my supervisor gives me deadline. Please
Please enter the date and time in the specified format of HEC-RAS. Also check whether the start and end date and time are accurate. Hope it would work.
Sir, Your tutorial is interesting. But one question; how can I generate a synthetic unit hydrograph for different return periods from daily streamflow data?
Thanks. I had encountered the same problem in my Masters thesis. First of all pick out the maximum instantaneous discharge for each year and calculate the flood frequency for the required periods. The method I adopted to develop hydrograph was using empirical formula proposed by Snyder. Using empirical formula lag time and time to peak was calculated. I assumed the time to peak is one third of whole duration of the hydrograph. Calculate the width of 50% and 75% peak discharge. The next step was dividing each return period discharge by the peak discharge of hydrograph (say you get the value X). Now multiply the 50% and 75% peak discharge by the factor X. However I've also seen many new methods using Artificial Neural Networks which seem to be more reliable.
@@_SolutionSeek Thank you for your kind response. would you provide me your email address for more discussion? because I need your kind support in this time
@@_SolutionSeek Thank you in advance for your kind response. Would you provide me worked examples regarding synthetic unit hydrograph generation for different return periods from daily streamflow data? I Appreciate your kindness.
The method I used is not reliable and is nearly out of mainstream at current times. I think the new methodology involves the machine learning approaches. I suggest you to search for research papers in google scholar and read the latest ones.
I too have faced the issue. Sometimes it appears and other time it doesn't. I suggest you to perform task through RAS mapper. All the activities of geometric window can be carried out there and won't be issue of the satellite image.
In my case, the satellite did not work when I was using Wi-Fi under a proxy, as some proxies block the satellite service, so try using a different Wi-Fi network without a proxy.
There are various sources in the internet. However, the authentic sources are the government departments related to hydrology and meteorology. For example: in case of India you can fetch from India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Central Water Commission (CWC).
I am working on a Braided River with multiple bifurcations and I'm perplexed in drawing river geomtry. Could you please provide your email or a way to get in touch? I have some questions and could use your assistance with a project I'm working on. Thanks in advance!"
@@_SolutionSeek sorry, it was "boundary condition", as in your video 9:26 after creating geometry, boundary condition did not came automatically as mentioned upstream and downstream and after clicking it showing flow hydrograph and other options are coming. but in my case i have created by my own boundary condition, so it showing only precipitation.
You can apply different sort of hydro-meteorological data. The common one is discharge data. HEC-RAS software can be freely downloaded once you search in google.
you can easily get the DEM file from aw3d website. For prj file, go to the folder which has your shapefile. One of the file with same filename but extension prj can be used. Hope it works.

Hi pankaj, can we also perform the simulation just by giving the precipitation data instead of river boundary and all ?

Hi sir we want your help, how to download the sample data of Pune city.
Could you please be more specific regarding what sort of sample data?
The satellite imagery does not appear in the geometric data window although I have previously added the layer, is there any reason for this?

Sir, which data can be used as Terrain Data? Kindly respond.
Try aw3d DEM. You just need to register and the data download is free. Hope it works for you.
Can I use SRTM DEM data from USGS?
Sure. Give a try. Compare the results with other DEM and decide the appropriate one.

Hi Pankaj, this is a nice video. Do you have a linkedin or email by any chance ?
after creating the geometry, boundary did not came automatically. and even if i created, its just showing precipitation only.
You need to delineate the boundary separately after creating geometry. Could you please be more specific about precipitation?

You can go through 6:54 again. I guess there should not be any problem. If you encounter problem again, start doing in a new project file.

It would be better if the audio (voice/ manuscript) part would have done by someone else.
Thank you mam for your kind suggestion. It means a lot.
hi, where can i get the dem file?
One site you can search for free DEM file is earthexplorer of NASA. There are many others.
