haha good one, just shows you're a shitty moviegoer. Captain America comes out next week you can start stroking to that early if you like. Linklater movies all follow the same freewheeling style and people love it because he capsules a time and place better than anyone. This is a spiritual successor to Dazed and Confused for gods sake, seen it? Same style, same tone. Dazed and Confused is one of the most beloved films of the nineties, this movie is getting praise from critics and most moviegoers alike that understand what they are getting into. Get some taste.
Matthew McNab That movie sucked ball sacks. I can't even explain the plot to you. We're a cool baseball team and we drink alcohol and party for three days before the season starts. No, you never get to see us play an opposing team either. It was a shitty Bull Durham. Go watch that movie and get back to me.
I hated every minute of this movie. i found all the characters shallow and at times mean and cruel. Some were pseudo-intellectual but never actually said anything profound. I cannot believe I let Christ and Alonso take for a ride. Wasted my time.
"The most Richard Linklaterly, Linkater film that I've ever seen" Lol that's all you needed to say, watching this as soon as it comes out in the UK!!!!
Didn't know it came out and now I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm very fond of Linklater's movies and Waking Life is my favorite of all time, had my mind blown as a kid and still revisit it. Never associated him with Texas at all not being from USA myself, but good to know what some of that background feeling might be.
Wow, pleasantly surprised by this review. I was dreading it because I LOVE Dazed and Confused, but the trailers just did not look great to me. I'm definitely going to give it a chance now!
Its a bit crazy movie, everyone is so on the same page they really do have telepathy don't they, everyone has memorized the song lyrics, they don't get into trouble and did all that music come out by the year this movie is set into?
Sorry Out of topic..btw Everybody Wants Some is already to watch in this site plus.google.com/+AurelliaRidly/posts/YNmdbEmEJxq maybe you want to watch it for good quality
This was just like a time with the bros....that goes no where. I didn't hate it, but it was just of very little substance. Dragged on for too long, meh.
I am torn on this. I hate that there was no plot, and it was just one party after another, but the characters were really interesting...I would say my score would be a 5.5.
This isn't most comedies. Trust me, the best stuff is not in the trailers. In the movie, you get to see all the different characters and their unique little quirks.
I'm in the middle with Linklater. The Before trilogy is amazing, but I've disliked all his other movies and I hate most coming of age movies. Perphaps I'll check it.
Strangely, I didn't like this one that much. I think maybe half the humor landed. I usually like Linklater movies, but this one I liked only maybe half of it. I thought it got better later in the movie. All the jock bonding and "witty" banter? Yeesh.
+Larry Lachmann You are one of the only people I've seen online that didn't like it. I LOVE Linklater, and I found 90% of this film to be borderline cringy. The jokes don't land, the acting was pretty bad all around, and the "linklater signature philosophical discussions" come across as bad parodies. Not even CLOSE to the Before series, or Dazed. What the hell is wrong with the world? Why the praise for this film???
+Nicolas Curcio Well what's fun about the philosophical discussions is seeing the characters that are discussing them. I didn't think the acting was bad. Maybe the protagonist suffered from boring protagonist syndrome (like Boyhood kinda did), but if anything, it was like he was a blank slate and I was able to put myself in his Converse shoes and really short jean shorts and react to the other teammates the way he would react. That's how I was able to relate to or just understand all the other characters. It felt like a fun, end-of-summer experience. Didn't really have any conflict, but I had a good time.
Agreed. While I still enjoyed the film, it's not really up their with my top Linklater films. I also did think it got better as it went on. The last quarter or so saved the film.
That has nothing to do with it. I don't have to play baseball to like a Eight Men Out or be a boxer to like Rocky. The movie just didn't work for me. Mainly the dialogue was substandard for Linklater imo
The movie was okay really. I expected better from Linklater. A lot of these guys just looked to old to be in college, and some of the dialogue was unrealistic.
he got kicked out. his main focus was being a college baseballer. focusing on one thing. not following the system, finding the space between the notes. finding who you are. non conformist. everybody pushes rocks up a hill. he also serves as a warning to the youngsters as to what may happen if you just focus on baseball and nothing else.
movieman82us It depends on what country you're in. For the US it says April 8th on IMDB. For Brazil, it says April 15th on IMDB. There are also 8 more different countries with different release dates ranging from April 8th to June 3rd.
Saw this movie MEHHH.... Not as good as Dazed and Confused but nowadays there aren't really "Honorable" movie reviewers. Everybody wants to be liked and you can't go against "Linklater". It's a popularity contest with movie directors nowadays
WTF is wrong with these reviewers. This movie was boring as shit and had no plot at all. If I could get my money back I would. Dazed and Confused was waaaay better.
There is a plot. its about guys being guys in the best time of their life. navigating the time before practice and study. it explores innocence, growth and the fulfillment that you can find when you go outside of yourself.
Most underrated movie of 2016
Amazing dialogue. Quotable as always with Linklater. What a blast. 9.0
Glenn Powell is FANTASTIC in this movie. I would love if he got an Oscar nomination.
5:33 It's okay Alonso. We all know how you know that.
I am a high schooler, and feel as if this is a movie I will grow up with. I loved it, one of the best of the year:
Now it's 8 years later, in 2024. Did you grow up with this movie?
Dazed and confused was my go to movie in high school. Looking forward to a new flick!
+Joshua Marsella Skip it. It sucked and was boring as hell.
+Joe Schmoe Bullshit
Matthew McNab NOT Bullshit. It was a very boring movie with no plot. You must have liked it for the one tit scene. Go rent Hardbodies.

Loved this movie so much. It's a meditation on that moment in your life as you begin college.
Why do they look so old????
I hated every minute of this movie. i found all the characters shallow and at times mean and cruel. Some were pseudo-intellectual but never actually said anything profound. I cannot believe I let Christ and Alonso take for a ride. Wasted my time.

What?? What?? that is some humor that is so abstract and universal and so fucking true to friendship. I love it
Wow, pleasantly surprised by this review. I was dreading it because I LOVE Dazed and Confused, but the trailers just did not look great to me. I'm definitely going to give it a chance now!
Going to a screening on April 6th. Can't wait.
Linklater is the GOAT.
Was boring.
My favorite director does it again!
it's just a shame that the movie doesn't have a release date in my country yet!!
It was a fun movie, put me in an era I wish I liked in
Its a bit crazy movie, everyone is so on the same page they really do have telepathy don't they, everyone has memorized the song lyrics, they don't get into trouble and did all that music come out by the year this movie is set into?
It took 12 years to make?!
+Dustin Tam It's a joke from Redlettermedia.
Sorry Out of topic..btw Everybody Wants Some is already to watch in this site plus.google.com/+AurelliaRidly/posts/YNmdbEmEJxq
maybe you want to watch it for good quality
Jessina Callion Yeah, sure. I'll check it out. Thanks.
that opening bit was painfully unfunny. i'm glad its getting good praise and i like dazed & confused but i'm not sure i'd like this.
It's much more charming when you're attached to the characters.
Dazed is a cinematic treasure. If this is half as good I'll be happy
Had a blast with this movie, love me some Linklater!
I still think those shorts are extremely sexy. They show a lot of leg and stop right at the point where your imagination runs wild at what comes next.
im definitley watching this. dazed and confused was a great movie
This was just like a time with the bros....that goes no where.
I didn't hate it, but it was just of very little substance. Dragged on for too long, meh.
I liked the trailer! And I still can't wait to see it.
I am torn on this. I hate that there was no plot, and it was just one party after another, but the characters were really interesting...I would say my score would be a 5.5.
So no plot and a bunch of "wacky" characters replacing story telling.
Even though I really liked the movie, that's a pretty damn accurate summary.
dazed and confused also had no plot, or atleast not a serious plot
juan gomez why does it have to have some crazy plot? You're supposed to just relate to the characters. As a college baseball player, I love this movie
Linklater is the best, I hope this gets a wide release soon.
Jack Pollins Cool. Thanks!
This movie wasn't boring but had no point. It was just a three-day party
Great movie felt very real not cheesy and doesn’t feel staged
Most comedies put the best stuff in the trailers. If that is the case here, this movie is doomed.
This isn't most comedies. Trust me, the best stuff is not in the trailers. In the movie, you get to see all the different characters and their unique little quirks.
linklater films shouldn't be judged by its trailers. there is a deftness and sweetness that trailers can't express.
Someone give me more movies like this one (not Daze and Confused).
Didn't like Dazed And Confused?
As in I have already seen it 10 times.
Slacker -1991 by richard linklater
I'm in the middle with Linklater. The Before trilogy is amazing, but I've disliked all his other movies and I hate most coming of age movies. Perphaps I'll check it.
I wanted to walk out half way through it was so dull. It did get better later on but it was so unfunny and I didn't really see the point of it.
on top of my must see list!
Strangely, I didn't like this one that much. I think maybe half the humor landed. I usually like Linklater movies, but this one I liked only maybe half of it. I thought it got better later in the movie. All the jock bonding and "witty" banter? Yeesh.

You never played team sports I take it....
I didn't really get what this film was about...and what was the point of Willoughby being 30?
he got kicked out. his main focus was being a college baseballer. focusing on one thing. not following the system, finding the space between the notes. finding who you are. non conformist. everybody pushes rocks up a hill. he also serves as a warning to the youngsters as to what may happen if you just focus on baseball and nothing else.
So annoyed with the limited release of this movie.
+wolflarson71 On IMDB it says there is a wide release on April 8. So, maybe you'll get it next week? I know it hasn't come to my movie theaters yet.
+BruceGifford JustMyOpinion I heard it goes wide on the 15th.
movieman82us It depends on what country you're in. For the US it says April 8th on IMDB. For Brazil, it says April 15th on IMDB. There are also 8 more different countries with different release dates ranging from April 8th to June 3rd.

wow this looks so obnoxious. I didn't think 80's nosetalgia could become more annoying.
WTF is wrong with these reviewers. This movie was boring as shit and had no plot at all. If I could get my money back I would. Dazed and Confused was waaaay better.
+Joe Schmoe
Then go see Dazed and Confused. I love this movie.
There is a plot. its about guys being guys in the best time of their life. navigating the time before practice and study. it explores innocence, growth and the fulfillment that you can find when you go outside of yourself.
that is not a plot
Dazed had no plot either.
Joe Schmoe Life doesn't always have a plot. It's like a slice of life character study in a very nice and respectful way
movie sucked. 80s porn films had better acting.
This movie sucked! I can't believe the reviewers thought it was great. So boring, so bad.. Yikes!!
I didn't recognize Blake Jenner at first.
