I own two of them, using one at home, one for rehearsal/touring/as Backup. And I have to say to all of those, who are complaining about the voices: You can edit every sound with tons of functions and effects, ADSR envelope. You can really get massive output on this, you only have to put some time into it. You can buy this great Keyboard used for about 450-500 Euros. Where else do you get touch-display and pads für that amount of money?
The MZ-X500 has some great synth features - borrowed from the XW-P1 (which I had one). It's very sad, that Casio seems to lack this line. The CT-X5000 is not a substitute. If there is anything to complain about, then the bad keyboard. Other manufacturers can do that much better.
I have my MZX 500 about 6 months now. Cost me €600+ change. Am happy with it so far. Ok. It's not a Montage or a Kronos or a Jupiter-80 but it's given me plenty of 'bang-for-the-buck'. The blue colour is bad-ass and the internal speaker system is pretty punchy too. The similar priced competition may have had newer waveforms but I find my MZX very functional. Fits in the studio/gigs/church/rehearsals with minimal effort. But each to their own. Right?
This is going for $1,100.00 in the US. Im thinking of getting it

Vou dar minha opinião sobre esse teclado , ele realmente é maquina tem muitos recursos, porém só uma dica pra quem vai tocar em igreja , tem que ter uma caixa boa própria pra teclado de preferência da rolando linha kc que é especifica pra teclado , digo isso porque se ligar ele numa caixa que não seja própria o som não sai muito legal os pianos ficam muito agudos e os Strings muito estridente, faz um teste toca nele só no dos alto falante o som e top , no fone bom é melhor ainda som espetacular, agora ligar na caixa ou na mesa os pianos ficam bem feios por isso recomendo uma caixa própria pra ele ou um pa bem preparado pra o som sair em estéreo. Digo isso porque os psr da yamaha numa caixa normal geralmente usada em igreja passa batido , já esse teclado mzx 500 numa caixa não própria não fica legal, o som q ele tá ligado aí no vídeo ele tá numa interface de Áudio por isso o som tá limpinho agora no ao vivo pode acontecer o que eu relatei ,mais isso é sua minha observação.
Blade Runner-ish synth at 4:00 is very rich and really useable compared to synth patches of many industry-leading brands.. Also liked the fat EP sound. But no piano demo at all :(
Bottomline; Casio is definitely on the right track.. Keep up the good work !

The lack of Rich playing the Grand Piano sound in this demo says something. If you need to have this KB all layered-up with synth-sounds, then perhaps its sound engine isn't very good. Where are the flutes, guitars, pan-flute, trumpet (-- was there but no expression available?), sax, etc.?

I wish Casio would make a unit to compete with something like the Akai MPK 261. Skip the sound engine, make something like this with drum pads and a class compliant USB MIDI *and* audio interface, battery powered speakers (with on/off switch when stand-alone or monitoring isn't needed), maybe keep the rhythm, arpegiator and/or simple sequencer/recorder, though. Basically, a workstation/arranger that is made to be upgraded several times a year by supplying an iOS device with software.
I actually *like* the feel of Casio's waterfall keys, compared to stiffer controller keyboards. They need to put a bit more effort into the pitch/mod controls, though.
I am planing to buy the PX-5s or the PX-560. But this machine doesnt sound very well compared to them.

I gotta be honest I've wished I could buy an expensive arranger keyboard in the 2K price range just for the strings and well these just don't feel warm enough. they still have that brightness that the more expensive keyboards have.

The thing with casio keyboards are the gates set on it's tones. The notes are immediately cut as soon as you lift your finger. I personally find it causes the tone to sound very polyphonic rather than an authentic recreated sound.
Why did Rich left Korg?
Only he knows. But I imagine that he has helped to modernise Casio keyboards. He is the reason Casio is going up, perhaps (or at least one of the reasons!)

Lucas Apollo as teclas tem somente forma de piano, porém são muito boas em comparação com teclados da Yamaha por ex ,digo isso pois tenho os dois teclados,o yamaha s910 e o Casio MZ X500 e posso garantir q o casio é um excelente teclado.

They are two different proposals is the M3 Workstation and the MZ-X500 is arranger with some samples of resources, drawbar, Hexalayer.

Casio technically getting advanced. But in the sonic essence.. they have miles to go to take On like Yamaha Roland n korg
Cassio has more technically to offer than Yamaha. PSR-S/Genos/Tyros cannot Overdub MIDI for instance, have no Count-In, cannot Copy Paste ...

Will there be a Casio MZ X500 update? 1.50 is not good. It's better, but not good. Especially the sequencer. Even the CTK 7000 is better the sequencer.
A Mz X 500 nem tudja: Convert pattern track 1-8 to SMF track 9-16, Copy event to another track (example: track 1 meas 1-meas3 to track 2 meas 10 - 3x) - CTK 7000 you can do it.
Need updating because 1.50 is not good yet.

If it sound and looks cheap, it would be cheap too.....Casio has always been kind of "toy-ish" with exception "FZ 1 and CZ" in the eighties ,sure the toy-look there, but technical and soundwise the were advanced.Not impressed despite Rick is trying his best (and his good).

Just a note Mate ; You may have a point as Casio is not a leader in the market (mostly due to marketing reasons) but at least they are trying their best..
Korg on the other hand, is a WAAAY exaggerated/overpriced brand compared to the likes of Yamaha, Roland..etc. Just check the "touch and feel" of ANY keyboard product against their Yamaha/Roland price/class equivalent.. You'll notice the difference instantly..
Let's put it this way; If Korg is an Audi, then Roland is a BMW and Yamaha is a Mercedes :))
So, good for Mr. Rich Formidoni to leave a stand-still Korg and work for a growing brand like Casio.. (BTW I use the old Kurz K2600xs.. So, I am as objective as I one can be..)

You may have a point that korg/yamaha/roland are overpriced...I don't have the intention to write down Casio. I owned a Casio XW-P1 and lots of other synths of different brands. I also have a Korg Oasys/Radias, Yamaha Motif and several other synths of other brands, so believe me, I KNOW the difference. It's not that I don't like Casio, but there truely is a difference in quality between the "overpriced" brands and Casio...and I prefer to drive in a mercedes or audi (which I happen to drive myselve btw...)
a) This arranger keyboard sounds better than the comparable Korg. b) Casio make excellent stage pianos and they are not priced through the roof. c) what do you care / what business is it of your where the presenter works?

a) I didn't say the sounds were better...sound is a matter of personal taste and therefor not objective (so read more carefully before commenting...)
b) I didn't talk about stage piano's, I don't have any (and never will)...and if you say so it's true...so I don't have an opinion about that...
c) yes I care because he did a great job at Korg and I like this guy, he did some great tutorials and reviews...and if you wanna know: it's none of my business, correct, but it's my opinion and just as music it's all a matter of personal taste......
